Is it normal to not test for Chorioamnionitis prior to cerclage?

I had a cerclage put in on Thursday due to shortening of my cervix (went from 3cm - 2.1cm in 9 days). I had zero risk factors and it was picked up totally by chance.
I’ve since read (unfortunately) that chorio can cause this shortening especially in people with no risk factors. I was only swabbed before the surgery and now I’m worried I could’ve had it in the first place which obviously will render the cerclage pointless. Was it normal I wasn’t checked for uterus infection before?

Please can I have opinions 🤞

This is going to be a long one so apologies in advance. I am 17 weeks pregnant today.

On Monday I had an ultrasound and as part of the scan she measured my cervical length, it was 30mm, described as long and closed with no funnelling. I felt reassured but after doing a bit of researching decided to get a second opinion (I have a family history of prem births)

I went to a different consultant yesterday who is a leading MFM. She measured the cervix between 2.8 and 3.4 and said that when pressure was applied I showed funnelling which warranted NHS follow up. I spoke to my midwife last night who asked me to go to triage today for a re scan.

Today the NHS scanned me, tbh I didn’t love the consultants bedside manner massively who commented that ‘the initial cervical scan was completely unnecessary, and you can know too much’ but chose to ignore her 🥲🥲 she measured the cervix once at 25mm and said there was zero funnelling (there was another consultant also looking at the screen who agreed) said that there was a cyst in the cervix which could be mixed up with funnelling and that they weren’t concerned. I had to basically beg them to refer me to a pre term unit (in 10 days time) which reluctantly they agreed to but said it wasn’t needed and I need to chill TF out basically.

So where to go with this? I now feel like spiralling because no one actually seems to have the same opinion on my cervix 😂

Baby is fine! I have no symptoms, ugh help me pls

Doctor has freaked me out

Hi everyone
My sister had many issues with her cervix last year and gave birth to my beautiful niece at 33 weeks. She was failed by multiple doctors (we are based in the UK and under NHS care)
Due to this my midwife reluctantly offered me a cervical length scan this week (I am 16 weeks), the sonographer took multiple measurements but finally settled on 3cm which she then told me was shorter than it should be but also fine ?? Google gives me mixed results of either it’s totally normal / ideally would be longer and I’m just spiralling. The NHS won’t give me another scan so I’m wondering whether to fork out £100+ to get a second opinion next week? Or am I overthinking and just suffering with trauma paranoia? 🥴😭

Accidentally drank at 12 weeks pregnant

I went to a wedding yesterday, I am 11+6. Haven’t had a drop of alcohol since positive test. Waitress passed me a drink and I checked non alcoholic - she said yes. Probably had half a flute and she comes running back to say a mistake was made and it’s booze. Obviously I then discarded the glass but am I silly in panicking over this? Im cautious as have had a previous loss so overthinking a lot 😬

Low CRL at 10+6 scan

I had a scan today for my first pregnancy that has developed over 7 weeks. According to my LMP I am 10+6. The sonographer measured the CRL only once which I wasn’t sure whether that was normal at 39.3mm which she then commented ‘24 percentile, small ish’ and then moved on. Everything else apparently looked normal. I didn’t get a chance to ask any questions and I’m wondering whether I should be concerned or just accept that it’s early days and measurements can vary?
