Apex mountain: scenes that make the audience shed a tear

Thinking when Elliot says goodbye to ET... thinking when Daniel Larusso uses an illegal kick to steal the karate championship from Johnny Lawrence... thinking the ending of when Harry met Sally... thinking when rose wouldn't move over so jack could get on the debris with her...

Scenes that brought a tear from the audience... im looking for the gold standard... the scene with the most juice

Tears arent necessarily a sad thing so one's that make you happy or angry about something in said film count too...

Looking for the apex mountain of scenes that make viewers cry

Hypothetical: be careful what you wish for' month

Inspired by obsession... the genre revolves around the opportunity to get the thing youve wanted via a wish... but theres always a catch

Its not necessarily a horror trope as well so theres variety here

The moneyball all stars

Trying something here

Thinking of low investment gems that exist in hollywood right now

Your qb1 that hasnt found a big budget film yet

Your supoorting players that could come in and hit a clutch double that no one else knows about

Your cinematographer who needs an elite director to notice them

Your music guy who could rival Ludwig and Hans if given the shot

Need a filmsworth of potential all stars to satisfy my thoughts here

Hypothetic Movie moneyball

Has this been done on the show before??

If not why??

Anyways...

Think the great baseball movie where brad Pitt should have won the Oscar for best actor... but applicable to a real aorld setting...

You're casting your movie but you have the Oakland As level of budget so no leo...

Whos your lead/s? Who are your supporting players? Who's doing the editing? Who's doing the score?

Also genuinely the metrics for movie moneyball sounds like something bill has already done once before in some informal matter lmao...

Edit: for giggles what type of film are you making with your moneyball cast

Whats the apex mountain for each character strictly within the constraints of the show

Main cast in this case... for reference I asked AI

Apex mountain = when was said character at the peak of their powers from a narrative standpoint/appeal to the audience standpoint etc... when was their fastball at its highest velocity

Whats the apex mountain for each character strictly within the constraints of the 9 seasons

As someone whos seen the show twice and over halfway through my third rewatch ive thought...

What moment in the series did each character have the most juice? When were they at the peak of their powers as a character within the parameters of star power/appealing to the show audience

Some examples would be Barney near the end of his relationship with Nora (the Neverending second episode)... Marshall taking Lily back... Ted with the raindance in season 1... (some examples of potential picks)...

Anyways for the main friend group only what would your suggestions be?

Apex mountain: tom cruise running scene...

Probably has been debated already... but saw some fan discourse suggesting the ultimate collaboration of nolan and cruise in the future and I thought...

When was tom cruise running at its apex... when did it look the best and have the most juice??

Hypothetical rewatchable... won me over month

This hypothetical month is about those movies that you think are awful at first but upon rewatch or second thought you realize that these films are far more redeemable than you thought... you were late to the party on this

The primary example to use for this is Bill's infamous story on Rounders... black hat works too

u/Ok_Average8663 — 4 days ago

Hypothetical. The Teddy KGB in Rounders month

Its kinda the one fatal flaw rip off however for this one flaw we're targeting a rewatchable movie with a notable character who's in a completely different movie

  1. Jon voight in Anaconda

  2. Cameron Diaz in gangs of new york

  3. Teddy KGB in Roinders (malkovich)

Basically list movies where youre wondering if the actor and the director didnt communicate properly on what the film in question was about and somehow that performance made it to theaters

Best behind the scenes tidbits for a movie (the Segal shit his pants award)

Not looking for a hypothetical month... what im looking for is the best behind the scenes story of a film shoot

Every film is eligible rewatchable or not...

Examples include

  1. Pacino getting sick on revolution

  2. Mercedes mccambridge using a remedy of chainsmoming whiskey and raw eggs to help build the voice for pazuzu

And so much more!!

Im unleashing you to be total nerds and search up this stuff for the best story possible

Remember prioritize the story over the movie... story can be good or bad it just has to qualify for the segal shit his pants award

Edit: prefer specific stories...

Hypothetical: rewatchable movie with a cancelled something...

Some movies are great but we cant talk about them for a various reason... either the star sexually harassed every young male in Hollywood (basically his words), the director raped a child, or the films from a bygone era and will get unfair backlash moving the discussion away from the films quality

Si in honor of movies like usual suspects, Annie hall, blazing saddles, rosemarys baby... what are rewatchable movies that have gained an asterisk due to a

  1. Cancelled star (for any reason even if they're back in the mainstream (Gibson counts)

  2. Cancelled director (theres plenty of rapists here)

  3. Bygone era which will dominate the discussion over the film quality itself

Edit: if its a film they've done then obviously say "re___" like re lethal weapon 2

Edit: cancelled doesn't mean theyre gone forever... cruise technically counts for instance

Hypothetical: stick a star in a rom com month

Influenced by friends star Jennifer Anniston in shes the one and rumors of hitch starring peak will Smith, what are other movies in the rom com genre in which the marketing of the film relied around a singular person's star power in said moment... ie anniston right as friends was popping

Rules

  1. Rom com genre

Hypothetical: critics got it wrong month

In honor of man on fires shocking 39% on rotten tomatoes, what are other examples of rewatchable movies that

  1. Are rewatchable

  2. Comically misunderstood by critics

Mention the critic review you're referring to in your list of films

Hypothetical: after hours month

Some nights just go wrong... they take a left turn and you end up crashed into a pole downtown and making out with the wife of an axe murderer before youre running away from a mob who confuses you with someone else

With that in mind the rules for the hypothetical after hours month are

  1. Think after hours as your broad influence for your movie idea

  2. Multiple day timelines in movies are allowed if they follow the concept of after hours

  3. Each movie needs a sliding doors event... the exiting the house to hookup with the gorgeous girl the night she overdoses moment....

  4. Any genre... not just comedies

This is really series of unfortunate events month but after hours is the film that explains it perfectly and is a great film obvi

Sam Neil hall of fame

Last night we lost one of the more underrated actors in the business... sam had consistent work throughout the decades from legendary IP to eventually underrated small screen work

That being said though in the spirit of the big picture pod and in commemoration of Sam's wonderful life... what are the films that would constitute the Sam Neil hall of fame

Rjles - are as determined by how these pods normally go when they occur

EDIT: THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAL... SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION

Statham month

Its genuinely ludicrous that they havent done Statham movies yet... makes 0 sense at all

So time to give them ideas in the form of a full course meal

Movie 1 = the appetizer= get your feet wet.. start your Statham journey here

Movie 2 = the drink = we're defining the proper Statham movie... when you think of a statham film it covers the ingredients here even if its not the best statham

Movie 3 = the main course = the statham apex mountain = the statham has never been better than he is in this movie slot... this is what you've been holding out for... this is the film that will blow your mind as all the notes of a statham movie hit here at the perfect degree

Movie 4 = the dessert = you just past the apex mountain and you want a little extra... you wanna know where to go next... theres a big catalogue so whats the next movie that you should watch after you see statham at his best...

With that in mind its time to create the full course of statham films for rewatchables month...

Disclaimer

The standards for fitting the categories are subjective to your opinion obviously.. you just need to be able to defend yourself

Second disclaimer... if you have category overlap in your suggestions then think harder

The so bad its a rewatchables month

We all know about the room.. the infamous film that birthed the so bad you just cant take your eyes off it moniker..

There are many movies like this... something that goes beyond a flawed movie and transcends into its own mythology that you're induced into an unbreakable trance to where you have to watch this film you know is going to be an enlightening 0/10..

With that in mind since rewatchables month accounts for around 4 movies what would be your list of films that would qualify on the "so bad its rewatchables" month

If you need inspiration think of the room
