Plus sized fashion Portugal?

Will be visiting Portugal, Spain and France soon, and would like advice on where is best to shop for designer plus sized clothing in Porto and Lisbon.

Was recently in Italy and shocked at the experience I had in Milan, so hoping to avoid anything like that again.

First, I simply asked a hotel maid if she could recommend where to buy normal sized clothing (I’m petite but curvy so plus sized) and was told “we don’t have as many obese people”.

I thought this was maybe just a translation problem, but no definitely not considering what was to come.

I later went to a “designer” store and asked the girl about an item in my size for her to roll her eyes and dismissively tell me that “we don’t make in THOSE sizes”.

What happened next was shocking. I saw a top I thought might fit. As I carried it over to the fitting room another staff member suddenly came over, blocked me from going in and said “No!” then snatched it from me.

I tried to ask what she thought she was doing but she kept barking “you will damage it” and “you are too large”.

I hardly had time to understand what was happening before the girl I spoke to earlier appeared and basically frogmarched me to the door and ordered me to leave.

All while other shoppers just stood watching smirking. Not one person intervened.

So yes. The country is beautiful but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Treated like a criminal because curvy people dare want to buy designer fashion.

Where to buy plus sized fashion?

Genuinely want to know where curvy people buy clothes in Italy, because the experience I had in Milan made me feel it’s impossible.

Offputting Milan designer shopping experience 2026

Tried to let people know about the experience I had but due to being trolled/insulted by dm have deleted that account.

Don’t try shopping in Italy if curvy. Or expect customer service.

First, I simply asked a hotel maid if she could recommend where to buy normal sized clothing (I’m petite but curvy so plus sized) and was told “we don’t have as many obese people”.
