Adult Only vs Family

Is an adult only resort worth it? Or is adult only section at a family friendly resort good?

I come from a big family but I don’t have kids of my own. I have not been to an adult only resort and wonder from those that have — is the cost worth it?

We are considering going to Sunscape Coco Punta Cana in DR. And there is an adult only section with a swim up and I feel like it would be awesome but curious if adult only resorts are really worth it?

Late July Trip Ideas

I’m in the MW and want to take a short trip with the family at the end of July. We’re looking at Seattle, Sam Francisco, and San Diego. Wife doesn’t want anywhere hot or humid. College-age daughter wants a beach or something like that and recent college-grad son likes outdoors. Seattle seems like the best option. But curious if anyone has thoughts on any of these cities.

Need a budget-friendly place to stay in Destin for July 4th — group of 6, no pets

Hey all, my group of 6 is headed to Destin for July 4th and we’re still looking for a place to stay for the night. Budget-conscious, no pets, just need something clean that can comfortably sleep 6 — a 2BR/2BA condo or similar works great.

Bonus points if it’s walkable to the beach or has a decent fireworks view, but not a dealbreaker. Anyone have recommendations, know of a last-minute opening, or have a place available to rent out for the night? Would really appreciate any leads — I know July 4th books up fast down there!

Thanks in advance 🎆🏖️

I Hate Traveling, How to Reframe it as a Fun Thing?

I can easily list why it's stressful, more stressful than my daily life. I struggle with seeing the joy others all seem to see in it. What makes travel so pleasurable to you? How do I get your mindset? My husband wants to travel more so I want to be a supportive partner and not kvetch

Any recs for places I should look into?

Where to go with two teens

My husband and I are planning a 3-4 night vacation with my two teens, who are 15 and 17 years old. This would be in mid November due to my husband’s work schedule. We are open to recommendations for somewhere our teens will have fun. For more context, we live in Wisconsin and have traveled to Orlando, Florida many times. We would like somewhere new and hopefully around 60 degrees or warmer at that time of year. Budget is 5,000 for the whole trip, and we are planning on flying. We need some suggestions please! We are all over the place on where to go 😵‍💫 looking on the web and there’s so many choices! And trying to avoid tourist traps

January Vacation Ideas

We’d like to plan a vacation to get out of the cold weather in January. We are active vacationers so hanging out on a beach or by a pool is not our thing. We definitely don’t want to go to Floridas, we’ve been to St. Lucia, Belize, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands, Hawaii. Any suggestions? Planning for 7 days, leaving from Ohio

Help me choose between West Bay Club vs The Sands at Grace Bay (Turks & Caicos)

I’m trying to decide between two resorts in Turks & Caicos and I’m stuck. Trip is for February and I want honest opinions from people who’ve stayed there or know people who have. I am budgeting because I want to do fun things there too.

The two options:
West Bay Club
The Sands at Grace Bay

What I care about:
Best beach experience (clear water)
Nice/clean/luxury feel (not basic hotel vibes)
Good food on site or nearby
Excursions (snorkeling, boat trips, etc.)
Some things to do, but I don’t need a party resort

Where I’m stuck:
West Bay Club seems more “luxury and quiet,” but less walkable and fewer amenities, more taxis.
The Sands seems more convenient and walkable, but maybe less upscale

My Questions:
Which one actually feels nicer in person?
Is West Bay Club worth it over The Sands?
Will I regret picking one over the other?

Any real experiences or comparisons would help a lot. Trying not to overthink this but I keep going back and forth.

Open to things to do there ideas too!!

Best Vacay Spots (warm weather) for Dec/Jan?

hi yall! i’m starting to plan out me and my boyfriends’ end of year vacation. We’re looking at going around Christmas time as our schedules align best then, but we’re willing to move it to early January.

Does anyone have any recommendations? We definitely want to be on a beach somewhere, and prefer to go international! (We’re in the U.S.)

We’re extremely open and in the research stage, so we’re ready for any suggestions!

We are currently researching Cancun, Punta Cana and Aruba.

We plan to stay for 4 days 3 nights. We do not want to spend more than 4k total including the flights, resort cost, and (hopefully) shopping!

Thanks in advance!!

Where should I go?

I’m feeling really down and need a break from my life. I’d like to go on a solo trip somewhere but I can’t decide where. I want some place that will be enlightening for me — though that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m longing for nature. In essence, I’m looking for most European place I can go to in the US? I already live in NYC and therefore want to avoid other cities. But something small and beautiful and with history and good people. I just don’t know where. Help?

Need help planning delayed honeymoon in San Diego (ish)

My husband and I got married during the fall of 2021. For global reasons, we had a small, local ‘mini-moon,’ and said we’d do it for real “in a few months when it all blew over”

We have been gifted a week’s stay in a 2-bedroom villa at The Hyatt Vacation Club at The Welk for our five year anniversary, and are excited to finally have our honeymoon!

All that being said, we’ve noted that the resort is a bit of a drive away from its advertised “San Diego” location, and doesn’t have a ton of on-site options for food and entertainment.

We’re looking for any suggestions or tips on things to do or places to go in the area. We have a car, and we’re not opposed to driving some- but would prefer to not spend the whole trip burning gasoline.

We as a couple really enjoy trying new things, enjoying pretty sights, exploring quaint shopping districts, dining at nice restaurants, swimming/snorkeling, and generally just going on adventures together. We’ll also have a kitchen in the villa, so we’re not opposed to cooking, given a recommendation for a nice market to shop at.

TLDR; romantic long delayed honeymoon near Oceanside/Temecula/San Diego, looking for recommendations for activities and restaurants.

(Disclaimer: not looking to change hotel or get opinions on timeshares. It belongs to my MIL, she just gifted me the stay and we decided the cost saved on lodging could go to activities)

Need advice. Treating myself to much needed and dare I say deserved mini staycation—

I will be staying at a stunning boutique hotel that is definitely on the pricier side and when I found it, it inspired the whole staycation idea. My conundrum is this. My budget will only allow 2 to 3 days. 3 days if I choose the most basic room on offer or 2 if I choose the room I really want. The basic room is small but comfortable. The better room is much larger, has a balcony, and a tub in the room.

As I will be spending most time at the hotel, I’m wondering what to do. Three days seems like the ideal amount of time to relax but I know I would love that balcony and tub.

Thoughts??

Help! Best last minute trip in August ideas needed?

I have about 4 weeks off in August this year and have not been able to narrow down where to go. It is not normal for me to get so many weeks off in a row, so I think that’s made it harder for me to pick a place as it feels like I should make it extra special. I’m open to either a 2ish week trip or 2- 1 week trips (1 at the beginning and the other the end of my time off). Travelers would be myself, husband and our teenage son.

We’ve been trying to see all the US national parks, so doing a trip(s) for those is an easy answer, but we do that for each school break. American Samoa feels daunting and each time I start researching that one, I feel like Fiji, bora bora or just about any other pacific island area seems a bit easier to plan and more tourist friendly.

Europe seemed like an obvious choice, but with my work being pretty busy right now, it seems hard to find the time narrow down an itinerary given so many options.

We love nature, animals, snorkeling or rafting. We normally do not visit cities, but we like historical places. We prefer activities over good restaurants if that makes sense.

So where would you go this August if time off work wasn’t a constraint? I have budget for a nice trip, but not like an obscenely costly trip. We’d be traveling from the US west coast.

Carolina’s vacation

Hi everyone. I’m planning my first big couples vacation. I’m looking for suggestions for a resort/ hotel in one of the Carolina’s with an outdoor pool and cabanas as we burn easily but still want to enjoy the water. On the ocean or within walking distance preferred.
