  1. Rev limiter / “bounce” sound: Is it something you need to mod for, or is it just a natural thing in manual cars?

I’ve redlined my Nissan Z (2024) in 2nd gear a few times, but I didn’t get that typical “bouncing” sound. The car just felt like it was being held back, that’s how I knew I hit redline (aside from the dash lighting up, which I wasn’t really watching).

  1. Going down highway off-ramp, what’s the correct approach? Downshift? Hold the clutch? Or shift into neutral?

I had a driving instructor for one day who insisted I take the car out of gear, but I don’t remember if he meant clutch in or fully into neutral. Personally, downshifting for engine braking feels more logical, but I’m not sure.

  1. When going over large speed bumps, should I: Press the clutch? Or stay in gear?

I was taught to press the clutch and then slowly release it, but I’ve noticed I can go over them smoothly in 1st gear at around 10–13 km/h. I’ve also had no issues maneuvering at very low speeds (~5 km/h) in parking lots. What’s the proper technique here?

  1. For U-turns, I can usually take them in 2nd gear. Should I: Press the clutch and brake? Just brake like in an automatic? Or is this risky unless I drop to 1st gear?

Thank you very much 🙏

Honestly, I keep noticing a lot of similar design details like the steering wheel materials distribution, the shape of the side skirts, the black trim under the rear glass, the rev lights on the dash, etc.

It got me wondering whether the Z is actually smaller than the Porsche 911, so I looked up a comparison and found this:

I’m sure the Porsche drives very differently, but I was still surprised by how close the Z is in overall dimensions, engine, HP, torque, etc. Not just the design elements.

Is it true if I submit B visa application before the current one expires I won't need to attend an interview?

Or interview is required in all cases?

My B visa expired +2 years ago.

I also had couple G visas (all expired now), does this affect the interview requirement?

If interviews are not required, does that mean I can apply for visa and mail my passport?

I'm in Kuwait where the US embassy currently closed, but open in neighboring countries.

Thanks!

My understanding is that these are more news-style or editorial pieces rather than research articles:

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-026-01255-8

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-026-01197-1

From what I can tell, they seem to fall under Nature’s News or News Feature.

What I haven’t been able to figure out is how this specific type of article is submitted. Is it even possible for an an independent author like me to contribute, or are these mostly commissioned/written by journalists and editors?

Would really appreciate any insight from people familiar with Nature’s publication process. Thanks!
