Petal interview

Hey, I was wondering wether you think Ariana will sit down and talk about the process of creating petal and talk about the music because it’s some of my favorite parts of an album campaign, to hear the artists intent and view on certain topics. Because she’s on tour I’m wondering if she’ll do any interviews where she sits down and talks about the creative process or atleast what the songs mean to her. Similar to the Zane lowe interview for eternal sunshine. What do you think? I know it would be difficult with the tour and everything so idk.

My journey with Taylor

Heyy, so since like January this year I’ve taken a real interest in Taylor and her music. And I wanna share my experience with you guys.
So obviously I’ve known Taylor my entire life basically, I grew up on the hits from red, 1989 and reputation, look what you made me do was such a formative experience lmao. But I’ve never dove head first fearless into an Album till this year.
I immediately was hooked by evermore actually. It literally injected itself into my bloodstream. I mean it was winter so that’s an unfair advantage to evermore but the songs were so layered and beautiful. I grew up on Ariana’s music mainly so I loved the smooth songs like cowboy like me (still a favorite) and willow. It stayed consistent to me and is still among a favorite. It was my favorite till red came along and snatched her wig. Red hooked me because of one song, yk it’s a deep cut not that well known or anything called all too well 10 minute version which no joke had me bawling in the end. Then I began listening to red atleast 3 times a week and it’s still my favorite.
Here’s my album rankings right now is:

  1. Red
  2. Evermore
  3. Speak now
  4. The tortured poets department
  5. 1989
  6. Folklore
  7. Fearless
  8. Reputation
  9. Midnights
  10. Lover
  11. Debut
  12. The life of a showgirl
Now I wanna also share some of my favorite songs. My favorite is actually you’re on your own kid. Which can have me crying smiling dancing sitting it’s a 365 party girl and I love her so much.
    - you’re on your own kid
    - right where you left me
    - enchanted
    - dear John
    - delicate
    - I wish you would
    - is it over now?
    - red
    - all too well 10 minute version
    - evermore
    - cowboy like me
    - fearless
    - mirrorball
    - false god
Overall she’s now one of my favorite artists and within simply 6 months she was able to hook me in a way no other artist has done in that short of a time using the narcotics she puts in her songs and that’s why I’m still singing along.
Overall thanks for reading guys and I’d love for you to tell me what you think of my rankings or songs and if you think there are some underrated songs you think I’d love. I’m so excited to keep wearing those friendship bracelets!

Getting into Britney’s music

Heyy this is my first time posting here. So about a month ago I began getting into Britney catalog to really understand her influence. Now I’ve listened to all the albums atleast three times and allowed myself to live with it for a little to form opinions and I thought I’d share it here!!
So my first thought was that all these songs are so uniquely Britney, atleast in the start of her career. She has this personality that shines through her music and genuinely I can tell which songs she likes by the energy. I also really liked her r&b Leaning music I thought it matches her breathy unique vocals so well.
Anyways I know it’s a bit complicated now to talk about her later career because of the conservatorship and everything but I do think that her 2000s music is some of the best I’ve heard.
Here’s a little album ranking, obviously very susceptible to change:

  1. Britney- I thought this album was where she began to spread her wings also her work with pharell here in slave 4 u and boys is so groovy and addicting. Also some of her best work with Max in overprotected and Cinderella.

  2. Blackout - I can very clearly see the through line between this album and so many that came after. The fame, brat, dangerous woman to name a few. But this album is a front to back masterpiece and the electro pop is so well produced. Danja did some incredible work here and I think it’s one of her best collaborations.

  3. In the zone - I loved the r&b elements here also I almost forgot how perfect toxic is as a song. Also so many gems like me against the music and possibly my favorite Britney song breathe on me. I think everytime is one of her most affecting ballads. I love how confident and independent she sounds here.

  4. Circus - now idk if I’m crazy but this sometimes sounds like blackouts leftovers, I mean this in a complementary way because blackout was just so incredible. I think her work with Dr Luke is good, terrible man though, in circus which is such a theatrical song. Also womanizer is undeniable. It just lacks a strong sonic identity like blackout or Britney have, it feels like a mix of blackout and a little bit of femme fatale here and there.

  5. Glory - for a late album in her career it sounds so her and I love that it’s not overproduced. It’s such a chill album with many r&b roots which I enjoy loads. It’s just a little bloated to me and sometimes samey. I love the sounds she uses and feels like a real return to form.

  6. Oops I did it again - I think oops builds perfectly off what worked so well in her debut album. It is a bit polished but I love the production with max here and Lucky is such a good song. It’s just a little less experimental and sometimes safe compared to her later project.

  7. Baby one more time - I love baby one more time the song and it actually was Such a huge part of my childhood, ten years after it was released that music video was such a formative experience for my love for pop music. But the album is again a little too polished and sometimes the production feels very kids boppy if that makes sense. It’s an incredible debut album though with so many hidden gems like soda pop and born to make you happy.

  8. Femme fatale - it’s a very trend following album with some great gems but overly polished and seems like such a hit focused album. I do think criminal is a little overrated compared to her other lead singles which are so her if that makes sense. Although the edm sometimes led to great songs like till the world ends or I wanna go. I think I just prefer live instruments to purely electronic, blackout is an exception though.

  9. Britney Jean - I know I know no need to say anything everyone said enough. But it’s just so not authentic it feels so cash grabby and I think you can’t make a Britney album without Britney Spears, and this album proves it.

Overall she’s a generational talent and I love her ear for a hit and I think her influence is very underrated I hear echos of her everywhere nowadays. I also think Britney will be in my rotations forever. Thanks for reading I’m exited to join this fandom!!

What’s the most “Beyoncé” Beyoncé album

I recently asked this question on the Ariana Grande fandom and I think it’s a super interesting question for Beyoncé. I’m trying to think of her entire career, not just where she is currently. What album shows the widest range of who she can be and what she aims to achieve with her music.

To answer this question first I’d like to define Beyoncés mission with her music. I believe her mission is to empower and uplift her people and in general bring light to systemic racial issues with her music, while simultaneously uplifting her culture, specifically from lemonade forward.

So I’m ruling out dangerously in love since it feels like bey sort of throwing everything on the table and seeing what works. It also lacks the artistic statements that come to define her later albums. I’m also ruling out Sasha fierce because while showing her commercial peak, they lack the clear direction and cohesion that’s expected from her later projects.

Next up this may be controversial, but cowboy Carter and renaissance act as parts of a very specific larger project that simply cannot speak for her older projects. They are masterpieces but I feel an album like Renaissance represents such a specific thing but cannot speak for an album like lemonade, there are little sonic similarities.

For a similar reason as Renaissance, I think bday has to go next. Bday is a fantastic high energy album that can represents her vocal ability and great experimentation, moreover there is a clear link between the videos for almost every song in bday and the self titled visual album so it is a blueprint in that sense. although it lacks specific themes like empowerment and the lyrics can lean generic so I’m ruling this one out unfortunately.

Next up is 4. I love this album down so this hurts. But 4 represents such a specific thing, it’s her cementing herself as one of the greatest vocalists not only of her generation but of all time and rejecting radio hits for an artistic statement, I feel like the one thing holding this album back is that, of all her albums, this had the least reach and impact on pop culture to remain her defining album.

Now for the toss up, either lemonade or self titled. I won’t lie to you when writing this title I knew it was gonna be lemonade. That album has everything that we expect from Beyoncé and more, it has that culture footprint that’s undeniable. It started a movement, it’s culturally empowering and genre bending. It has the cowboy elements we see in cc, the rnb we know from 4 and DIL, the moody electro pop from self titled, the theme of cultural empowerment we see in renaissance. I think this is beyonces entire purpose in one album. Self titled is the runner up to me because it’s such a departure into that sexy, quite frankly explicit songwriting we see later in her career. It’s also a visual album which is the blueprint for what we see in lemonade. Although I think lemonade is the only right answer🍋

So what do you think I’m really interested to know

What’s the most “Ariana Grande” Ariana Grande album

I know I know the question seems nonsensical but I had this thought and i thought it would make a great discussion. I’m thinking which one album represents, not only who she is now, but her entire career.

So immediately I ruled out my everything as it’s definitely one of the least fitting, and honestly same with dangerous woman as it is her really playing a femme fatale character not really her.

Yours truly, despite being fully authentic to her sound, feels out of the question because it felt like she had limited creative control and it was sort of like the first pancake, so it represents her sound but I wouldn’t say the themes discussed are career wise recurring.

Another one I had to rule out, despite my love for her, was thank u, next. That album was such a departure, I’d argue it’s her darkest most cynical album. There is hopelessness in that album that I feel doesn’t fully represent her artistry.

The next one I had to rule out was eternal sunshine, this was a concept album that was heavily tied to the period of time she was in, despite it being very personal, it felt like another big departure as it’s a new songwriting first style album which really doesn’t represent any other album.

So it was a tough call as now I’m left with what I believe are the two best contenders, sweetener and positions. Much love to positions, but I believe sweetener has to win. Positions was very lowkey and comfortable, which is great but lacks the big pop hits that define the first half of her career. Also, sweetener is more varied and shows many different aspects of her artistry, it shows high level vocals in giaw or breathin. It shows her vocal layering in REM or get well soon. It shows her songwriting in ntltc or better off. And more importantly, it tackles her favorite topic head first, healing from trauma; songs like ntltc and get well soon introduce her line connecting all her albums from that album forward. It was also her first album with a strong concept. So my heart has to go with sweetener💛
