As someone who has been collecting perfumes for a few years now, I tend to go down rabbit holes hunting down indie brands that don’t get a lot of detailed reviews. Most of the perfumes in this review are blind buys I picked up throughout 2026 out of pure curiosity.

If you like discovering under the radar perfumes that don’t break the bank but still feel worth owning, this review is for you.

EM5 perfume: omb leather

Lasting power
Tom ford ombre leather- it's the exact same smell from the opening to the drydown but the lasting and performance was a bit disappointing. It became a skin scent in 2 hours.

Notes
90% the same as ombre nomad TF. Felt very rich and wasn't synthetic at all which is great at the price. Super refined, slightly animalic, and amber, jasmine, patchouli mixing with the leather. No alcohol blast.

Packaging
Clean and basic. The bottles quality is heavy and nice.

Cost
Pocket friendly. The bottle was originally listed at 1499 for 50ml but i got it for 490 on flipkart. No idea why such a huge markdown but okay.

Final rating
6 out of 10. Good casual option if you want something very easy and understated.

Blur india perfumes : vanilla melts and this is milk

Lasting power
The breakfast edps look fun but the longevity is modest. On me I get around 4 hours. Their milk perfumes on the other hand lasted 6-7 hours on skin.

Notes
Vanilla melts is a nice woody-vanilla scent. Nothing complex but smells pleasant. The hot chocolate perfume felt intricate. It started with bitter dark chocolate, i get hints of almonds and honey and slight vanilla. This is a "you'll either hate it or love it" perfume.
Packaging
Pretty cute. They feel instagram friendly. The outer box got a little banged up in transit.

Cost
I feel like the price is fair for scent quality. Both of these perfumes were around 400.

Final rating
7 out of 10. Vanilla melts is not the best if you want super long wear, but hot chocolate lives up to my expectations.

Fraganote perfumes: island water and citrus amber

I am pleasantly surprised by how these wear. On me they manage 4 to 6 hours with good projection in the first half of that time. Not niche beast level but solid for daily use.

Notes
I find citrus amber balances freshness with a little depth. Very refreshing, sunmery scent. This is much better than drunken cake, which I hated. It reminds me of sauvage. Island water is a mild, aquatic scent. Nothing too remarkable or complex but very mass pleasing.

Packaging
Pretty neat overall. Slightly more refined than typical indie stuff but still not over the top. The quality of the bottle and cap feels premium.

Cost
Midrange for indie brands but still affordable compared to big names. I think it sits in a nice sweet spot for quality versus price, though paying 600-700 would have been fair.

Final rating
7 out of 10. A solid choice if you want something that feels a bit more grown up without being serious niche complexity.

Hira Perfumes: silk robe

Lasting power
These clock in around 6 hours for me. Sometimes I get a little more longevity depending on the scent family. This is ofcourse the Khamrah qahwa dna, so I need not explain the notes.

Notes
Mentioned above.

Packaging
Clean and classy. Nothing extremely fancy but definitely looks intentional rather than generic.

Cost
Compares better than others in this list. You do not have to break the bank to pick up a couple of bottles and experiment. Typically in the under 1000 range.

Final rating

8 out of 10. A good middle ground if you want a little more character without spending big.

Theatre xyz : theatre mariyam

Lasting power
For the price point, Theatre xyz perfumes generally last longer than I expected. On my skin I get about 5 hours on most of the ones I have tried. They sit closer to the skin after that but you can still catch little whiffs throughout the day.

Notes
Very dominant lavender notes. For the first few minutes I get nothing else but just lavender.

The website says it has aquatic hints, but I mostly got floral and slight amber + citrus. Nothing super heavy but definitely pleasant. What I appreciate is that this is an original scent, not a dupe.

Packaging
I actually look forward to unboxing these. I do believe they have the best designs out of all the indie brands, hands down. It feels very personalized and well thought. The bottles have a nice weight and the design feels classy. It feels like something worth displaying rather than hiding in a drawer.

Cost
Super approachable. I usually see these under ₹1000. For the amount of presentation you get, I feel like it is a win if you like collecting.

Final rating
9 out of 10. Easy everyday wear, good for casual days and not intimidating. I'd say in this list, this would be a winner overall.

Wrap Up Thoughts

My taste tends toward scents that are easy to wear and not overly aggressive, so these indie finds fit my collection well. If you want cute and fun, Blur India and Fraganote are worth trying. For a bit more presence and personality, Theatre xyz and Em5 are my go tos. Hira sits comfortably in between, giving a little bit of both.

Hope this helps anyone looking for indie perfume reccos. Let me know if you want specific scent recommendations from any of these brands.
