Prednisone - maybe not a 'miracle working' treatment plan?

Somewhat venting, and just seeing if anyone has had a similar experience.

June 8th - Diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis. Bloodwork and x-rays came back all normal, but you can SEE my inflamed finger/toe joints and you can feel the stiffness. Anyways, my Rheumatoid doctor has this treatment plan for me.

1 month 15mg prednisone daily

1month 10mg prednisone daily + starting weekly Methotrexate shots

When I left his office, he claimed quite boldly that I will 'feel like a million bucks' in a couple days, he told me to not take any other inflammatory medications, because I simply wont need them anymore. That his treatment plan was going to make my life more bare able. That Ill be able to be a functioning adult in NO TIME.

June 22 - what a crock.

Joints that were just on the cusp of a flare up are in full blown flare mode. My other joints that were already so swollen and stiff have not eased up a smidge.

I even caved and starting taking Aleve again for some sort of relief. I did call my Rheumatologist after a week (figured Id give a week to see) and well...He is on vacation until 29th.

Feeling overwhelmed.

How hard is it to get a diagnosis with all normal labs?

Pics of the most obvious ailment - finger joints swollen, painful and very stiff (all day)

Other stiff and painful joints that have gradually caused issues- all toes, L knee, L hip, R ankle, R elbow. No obvious swelling or discoloration on those joints though.

Xrays, bloodwork, urine and poop all came back absolutely normal.

Started 7 months ago with a swollen finger joint, numbness up my arm to elbow and 'dead' elbow. Got a diagnosis of tendonitus and to come back in 6 weeks. Well 6 weeks later my hands looked like this, this is pics of it still today.

Just dont know if im setting myself up for 'nothing is wrong' diagnosis, I know it can be an uphill battle and im not sure how to best prepare for my specialist to take me seriously.
