Hi. I’ve recently turned 55 and been retired for 18 months. I spoke to my ifa about getting perhaps £1k a month from my pot of roughly £500k, I then noticed I was paying 0.3% to m&g and 0.7% to him making it 1% so that’s £5000 per year in fees. This seems a lot to me, however I’m certainly no expert. I mentioned that Aviva charges me 0.22% on a separate pension and perhaps I should transfer the main pension into that but he said that would be a hassle taking £1k a month. Is it worth paying the ifa I guess I’m trying to find out? Thanks, hope you can make sense of this!
