Downgrade to green?

After 20+ years with the Amex Platinum, I have decided it’s no longer from me. I don’t really want to get into a debate over why.

The issue I’m having now is deciding on which course to take:

Option 1: transfer out remaining membership rewards points to BA with a 30% bonus, close the card but lose 20+ years of credit history on my credit report. I have an 800+ FICO so I’m not sure how much it will really impact me.

Option 2: downgrade to a green card and pay $150 a year until the end of time for nothing other than keeping the credit history since I am not planning on using it. I’m being told by Amex that the green card is the cheapest card I can downgrade to. I would prefer a free card, but it is not given to me as an option. Apparently only the green card or gold card are available for a downgrade.

Has anybody gone through this and can share what they decided and why? I’m having a hard time making a decision.

Tried on the Mach 6 recently and loved the cushioning.

Found them at Ross for under $90 which felt like a steal. The only other shoe that felt comparable was the On Cloudrunner 2 (spotted at Nordstrom Rack), but the Mach 6 price was hard to beat.

My hesitation: I keep seeing comments here about them running narrow. A running store told me modern standard-width shoes are wider than they used to be and I shouldn't need to size into wide anymore, but I'm still second-guessing myself after reading everyone's narrow shoe takes.

They felt fine in the store, but I know that's not always the full story.

How do you actually know if a shoe is too narrow for you? Is there a way to tell beyond just standing in them for a few minutes? I'm worried I won't notice until I'm 30 minutes into a treadmill walk.

For context on my use case: treadmill walking and group fitness classes, no real running. Neutral stride, heel striker.

If the Mach 6 ends up being too narrow for me, any other suggestions under $100 for this kind of low-impact use? I prefer a shoes that doesn't look too clunky and neutral colors. Thanks.
