Why is there so much Hoka glaze?

I'm not saying this to shit on Hoka but if you are charging $200 for a pair of sneakers they better be the best damn sneakers ever made.

I have a pair of $40 Addidas running shoes from 4 years that aren't in the best shape but I can still run comfortably in them.

I have a pair of air force ones that I wear daily that I got in clearance that I have been wearing for 3 years daily and they still are in very good condition albeit I wash them often but the structure is strong.

I got a pair of Hokas not too long ago and my god after a year of daily wear they started falling apart. They're just not that well made for their price if they lowered it to maybe $120 I could definitely see it as a maybe but they should be $80-$90 for their quality.

Why do people like them and glaze so much? Is it "thing" bad, "thing" japan amazing! ?

After trying on HOKA Clifton Pros and Clifton 11s, I'm sticking with my Clifton 10s...

I really wanted to like both. But I have a wide foot and wear a size 9.5 and while the Clifton 10s fit me perfectly, I feel like they drastically changed the midfoot in both new models.

Anyone else notice this?

Foot caves in

I’m on my third pair of Hokas, got Clifton 10s recently. My left foot feels like it’s leaning in, kind of caving in towards the ankle. It drives me crazy, it feels like if I move the insole more to the right (the inside) that would balance the shoe but it doesn’t help. I’m always trying to squirm my foot in the shoe trying to get it to feel right. I have had this issue with other sneakers, but it’s especially bad with these. Is there any kind of adjustment I could make to the shoe that would make my foot feel like it’s standing flat? Thanks.

New release? Bondi 9 GLM

58F wearing Bondi 9’s for disabling arthritis, moving measurably better since switching from Oofos. Told by Hoka Cust Svc rep that the 9 is being completely changed for 2027 which has sent me into a tailspin. I think it’s hard to understand the impact of finding something that helps your problem if you’re not in these shoes (yes I absolutely had to go there.) So I stalk 9’s on Hoka, FleetFeet and REI, basically stocking up and delaying the inevitable. Yesterday I received an email from REI announcing this new “GLM” version of the 9’s. Has anyone heard of this version? I have seen zero announcements, ads, nothing. Thanks!

Speedgoat 6 vs 7 sizing – did you size up?

I’m trying to figure out Speedgoat sizing and want input from people who’ve used SG6 and SG7.
I wear US 7.5 in Speedgoat 6 and it fits well.
In Speedgoat 7, 7.5 feels like my toes lightly touch the front. Going up to size 8 feels too roomy in the toe box. Regular (non-wide) in all versions.

Did anyone else size up going from SG6 → SG7, or is the fit just different / breaking in over time? Trying to avoid either toe pressure or a sloppy fit. Or
Would US 7.5 wide fix this problem?
Thanks!

Tarmac to Trail

Hi guys,

Apologies in advance if this has been covered to death.

I have not used HOKA before but someone suggested the Challenger 8s for a mix of tarmac, bridal path and reasonably technical trail, mud.

I have used Saloman for donkeys but the last pair has only done 160ish Km and the lugs are almost worn to the sole on the outer edges. I like Speedcross for the breaks on declines (I run/hike with two Huskies attached so have to be able to slam on now and again).

I have a pair of S4s but the build quality seems to have gone off a cliff. While the grip is still amazing, I don't want to have to wear a diff pair for each section of my regular dog hike.

Would the Challenger 8s (or any other runner) be suitable for tarmac, trail, mud etc and offer a bit more durability without sacrificing too much of that glue feeling that you get from the old Speedcross 3s and 4s?

TLDR

Are the breaks good? Are the soles durable? Any advice before buying a pair?

Many thanks

Broke my foot in ora recovery 3 trying on for first time

My Ora Recovery Slide 3 arrived and I put them on the same day. On a flat surface, taking a normal step, the slide collapsed under my foot. My foot rolled outward, I heard a snap, and I ended up in the ER with a fractured fifth metatarsal.

When I notified Hoka, I wasn't routed to normal customer support. I was routed to a lawyer. She offered me $500 in store credit, but only if I signed a release stating there was nothing wrong with the shoe. When I said I wanted Hoka to cover my medical expenses, I was told, "I can't just go down the hall and cut you a check."

I was then handed to what Hoka called a "neutral third party," the insurer Zurich. That "neutral" process was to mail my shoes to Hoka so Hoka could inspect them for defects. I don't understand how the company that made the product deciding whether the product is defective can be called neutral. Unsurprisingly, the finding was "no defect," and the only offer was to mail the shoes back.

I was only ever trying to recover my medical expenses, and by pursuing that, the $500 offer quietly disappeared. Not that I would have taken it. I never really expected to get anything out of this, but I needed to try, since it was a very expensive ordeal. By the end I was happy to be proven right. Now I know I can't even expect a safe shoe that the company will stand behind.

I then simply asked support for a refund and was told I was past the refund window. When I pushed back, they suddenly found the ability to issue one, with no meaningful apology, only after a fight to get the bare minimum.

I've been a Hoka customer since 2012, both the product quality and the treatment of customers have declined sharply since their acquisition. I'm now out roughly $3,000 because of a poorly designed pair of $60 "recovery sandals." I would never sign away my rights. Buyers deserve to know how this was handled.

Hoka Clifton 10 shin splints

I bought Hoka Clifton 10s yesterday and after my first easy run today, 1k in, I instantly noticed my shins hurting more then ever before. I recently started running and I run in generic cheap nike running shoes that don’t have much cushion (or they have more cushion on the back rather than front).
I’m kind disappointed I was expecting it to feel great first run but it didn’t go that way.
Is it eventually gonna be better or no? Will I ever get used to it or do I need to change the shoes immediately?

Bondi 9 torn along side in 6 months

Saw another post here complaining about how their HOKAs failed them so decided to share my own story.

One day the entire side stitching just fell apart.

Bought these 6 months ago, and used them mostly for running / aerobics and every day wear. Not that much running, probably 50km total.

Can I fix these?

I got these shoes today for 50% off due to the discoloring. Is there a way I can make the discoloring whiter? Pics attached :)

Hoka Bondi 9 / SR - breaking within 1-6 months!! Any one have recommendations of different shoes??

A couple years ago my podiatrist recommended to buy Hoka Bondi shoes. They genuinely felt like walking on clouds however $250-$299 for a pair, and the stitching comes out within 1-6 months. Anyone else experienced this???

1st Purchase: Hoka Bondi 9 Black ($289 in August 2025): lasted 5-6months.
Hole was top right shoe & stitching down the side came undone too.

2nd Purchase: Hoka Bondi 9 Tan/Green ($240 in November 2025): Lasted 2-3 months. Hole in top Left part of shoe this time. (Right shoe was fine).

3rd purchase: Hoka Bondi SR (leather look all around) - $299 in May 2026.
1 FREAKING MONTH!!! I already have a hole in the top right part of the shoe… stitching loose again. WTF!!!!

I average 10k steps per day…. Nothing excessive. Wear them to work, and a couple 30 min dog walks per day … again, nothing too excessive.

Any recommendations on another shoe good for walking & everyday use?
I’m pissed with this shitty expensive brand!!! Waste of money!!! In under 1 year - no Hoka shoes lasted.

Delivery Dilemma

Tell me why..

I ordered $200 worth HOKA Bondi SR work shoes (including $20 for 3-day shipment) and it’s been over two weeks and I still haven’t received the item yet.

When I purchased the item on HOKA‘s website, unbeknownst to me, HOKA auto filled the address from my Apple Pay, and it turns out that address is outdated. My shoes were shipped to the wrong address.

I filed a support ticket with fed ex the same day it was delivered and after a week of dragging it out, they finally told me they couldn’t retrieve the item. Reason being they delivered it to the exact address that HOKA gave them, even though its not my address. I find that messed up.

I contacted Hoka and they pointed at fed ex, telling me to file a claim with fed ex or they can’t do anything for me. Yet fed ex just refused to retrieve the item. Fed ex is also telling me that Hoka has to file a lost claim with them. They’re pointing fingers at each other and not helping me at all.

I managed to file a lost claim with fed ex but I fear they’ll deny it like they did with the support ticket, and that could also take weeks to complete.

for all I know, someone just got free $200 worth shoes (shoes that I bought for my foot pain) that I spent hard earned money on. While everyone is leaving me hanging. I tried to dispute with Cash App, yet they’re telling me it could be up to a month‘s wait and I potentially could not get my money back.

If I reach out to the police I fear the situation will drag out even more and I still won’t be helped, because they’ll just tell me to reach out to the two companies, which is proving pointless. Plus there’s not enough evidence on who took it to knock on their door, even though I suspect the resident that currently lives at that address took it because their address is on it.

It’s been nearly two weeks now and nothing, HOKA isn’t doing anything and even flat out refused to give me a one-time courtesy refund. Fed ex isn’t helping either. I fear they’ll drag this out until the time window for help expires. This just proves that these companies only care about money.

I can’t help but lay awake at night, anxious that my $200 was gone to waste, and dreading having to go to work with my rusty shoes and suffer terrible foot pain. That was nearly half my paycheck, I make a mere $500 every two weeks, I was really looking forward to limiting my foot pain with those shoes. What do I do? Please help me spread awareness.

The Elusive Good Pair of Bondi 9s (400mi+)

Seen lots of posts recently about Bondi 9s falling apart, so figured I’d share some pics of mine! These have about 400 miles on them. Mostly road, but some trail runs and treadmill. Held up pretty well for me!

Hoka cielo x1 1.0 and 2.0

I ordered cielo 1 and 2 versions to check which one I’d like better. The first is more casual, stable. The second is more tempo. I wanted to keep 2 ver., but there is no serial under ultraviolet light! That’s odd… have anyone came across this, do all originals have serial in uv light?

Does this happen to other people?

I like Bondis, but the tread is poorly glued. Luckily, it's a pretty easy thing to fix.

Barely Worn Bondi 8s Falling Apart

I bought a pair of Bondi 8s two years ago (well past the warranty window now) but wore them only a handful of times and then parked them. I picked them back up after a long running hiatus and was shocked to find that despite looking PRISTINE because I hardly used them - they have a large tear on the inside where the tongue is almost entirely separated from the body of the shoe. I reached out to customer service to ask if there was anything at all they could do since this was clearly not wear and tear and they basically told me I was SOL and to try getting them fixed out of pocket.

After reading through a lot of similar accounts of the Bondi 8s and 9s I’m starting to think build quality of Hokas has just gone downhill and maybe our family should move on to a different running brand entirely.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Was anyone successful in finding a repair shop able to fix tears in their Bondis? I’m gutted.

Hoka Challanger 8 for trail and sidewalks - prominent rock

I’m looking for just one pair of shoes that I can use daily for all types of activities, I would say I do 35% trails and 65% sidewalks/concrete daily. I enjoyed how the shoes were taller and had better heel and arch support than my current shoes.

They seemed comfortable for all except the rocker. Everytime I took a step my head would bob/bounce and it was really annoying and was giving me a small headache. It was a front to back rock, not a side to side. I feel I could adapt to this maybe but I’m not sure. Has anyone else experienced this?

Edit: I'm going for the ASICS Trabuco 14 Trail instead
