I thought I was a minimalist..

..until I started packing for a cross-country move with only what I can fit in my car and a few boxes. Turns out I am more sentimental than I thought.

How do you continue to pare down after you thought you were done? If you have done an extreme purge for a move, do you regret any part of it?

finally modded my osprey daylite 26+6

I love this bag and have taken it on several onebag trips. I was content with the shock cord in a big "X" using just the 4 original attachment points, however it was always the goal to make it more supportive by adding two attachment points along the sides. Finally had some time to do a little DIY.

**also, since this is reddit,** I am aware this is a very type b version of a job that could be done better with the right color paracord and a sewing machine. I used what I have and thankfully care more about functionality than making it look perfect. :D

Here's a simple breakdown of how I did it:

  1. Measured and marked the new attachment point with white pencil. Each dot is 4.25 inches from the closest original attachment point. White dots are 1 inch apart.

  2. Stitch-picked the beige binding tape threads inside the bag. Used a yarn needle to wiggle paracord between the black threads in the seam from the outside.

  3. Once I had the length I wanted, I cut the paracord and used a lighter to seal the ends. Then I used black thread to sew the ends together. I originally tried tying them in knots but the binding tape wouldn't fit over them.

  4. Stuffed everything inside the binding tape and sewed shut.

  5. Finished product from the outside.

  6. Added shock cord. It'll move around a little but no biggie! I may redo this with a slightly longer cord.

Single mom and kids starting over in a new state.

I could really use something light-hearted and optimistic that is similar to my current situation:

I recently won custody and will leaving my home state that I love. New home is 3500 miles away and I will be living with family for probably the first year. My abusive coparent claims he will go back to his home country after we leave to "take care of family" aka avoid child support.

My kids will definitely thrive there. We will have so much support and they will go to better schools and participate in sports that I couldn't afford here.

I'm trying to put on a happy face but I am grieving. I love my kids but their father is a deadbeat and I am so worn out from years of working my ass off and sacrificing for them. I'm still relatively young and I know the possibility of living a whole second lifetime there is absolutely possible. I know my kids will be better off, and selfishly I hope that I will find happiness, too.

TLDR- Hoping to find a book about a single mom finding happiness in a new place. Whether it be from friendships, a meaningful career, new hobbies, or a relationship.

Some planned stops:

- Skydive Chicago
- Niagara Falls

Any quick, fun stops you know of along this route that we shouldn't miss?
Anything I should know ahead of time? Thanks!

Suggestions for healing purity culture shame with NSFW fiction

I am looking for some books that can introduce me to erotic romance without being too much. I'm in my mid-30's and only recently realizing how much growing up in purity culture has stunted my sexual confidence and ability to experience real intimacy.

I'm looking for wholesome, passionate, shame-free exotic content with a good storyline.

Thanks!

PS. I am also not opposed to suggestions for non-fiction self-help on the same topic. I am about to start Mating in Captivity by Esther Perel but wouldn't mind starting another book at the same time.

Glock 23 owner

Currently a CA resident and possibly moving to NH this summer. I have a couple questions regarding the ban.

1 - Would it be beneficial to sell it here and just pick up another when I leave? Can I even sell it to a CA resident?

2 - If I end up staying, what are the chances they are going to ban them entirely here? How would they even go about taking legally purchased guns?
