"Trump Should Take the U.S. Military’s Warning on Iran Seriously" (Feb 2026)

Re-reading this article today, written four months ago i.e. a few days before the start of Operation Epic Fury, shows how foolish the US government was in starting a war with Iran, despite the warning provided by their own military experts.

>Iran still has larger numbers of short-range and anti-ship missiles. Those missiles could be used to target U.S. bases in the region and oil infrastructure belonging to U.S. allies such as Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

>The ultimate nightmare would be if Iran were able to temporarily close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important commercial arteries (about 20 percent of global oil consumption flows through the strait), thereby spiking global oil prices.

>The United States could still successfully strike targets in Iran, but it is far from clear that such attacks would bring major concessions from the regime. The president would be well advised to take these considerable risks and costs into account before starting a war without an obvious exit strategy.

What is this tree? Is it considered a pest / weed in Auckland? Also, what NZ native flowers / plants would you place alongside a corrugated iron fence?

I trust human gardeners over A.I. tools to give me those answers. Thank you 🙏
And yes, that tree is flowering right now, crazy.

Shovel repair using random tubing, bolts & nuts, and J-B Weld's FiberWeld.

Took this opportunity to make that short shovel a bit longer. The FiberWeld was more for the cosmetic final touch and to avoid water ingress than for strength. Not shown is the gob of epoxy putty added on the underside to close the tubing and stop soil getting in.

Recommendation for neuro specialist in Auckland to confirm early-onset dementia?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) are associated with an increased risk of early-onset dementia. So asking for a friend. The one I see every morning in my bathroom mirror...

I was on Hobson Street, walking on the left side towards Cook Street, about 20 ~ 30 meters from the intersection when I heard a vehicle coming fast behind me, in the left lane that was totally clear. I know the traffic light ahead was a solid red (i.e. not yellow-about-to-turn-red) because multiple cars had already came to a complete stop in the right side lanes, several layers deep. I was even thinking of jaywalking at that point LOL. Anyway, the car zoomed past me and I thought "WTF!" as I could see one cyclist and several pedestrians already starting to cross the street. The car did not even slow down; the driver swirled right to avoid the people, before driving fast down Hobson Street towards the motorway entrance. Coming home, I could not help replaying the scenario of what carnage that could have been... Is this driving behaviour more frequent now?

EDIT: the car was so fast that I had no chance to take note of the licence plate.
