Ich komme aus den Tiefen von Ostdeutschland und war bei der Widersetzen-Demo in Erfurt. Seitdem gehen mir einige Gedanken nicht mehr aus dem Kopf. Das hier ist keine wissenschaftliche Analyse, sondern meine persönliche Wahrnehmung — aber sie bestätigt sich leider oft in Gesprächen mit Freundeskreis, Umfeld und auch in der Wahlwerbung der AfD.

Die Rechte hat ein Narrativ geschaffen, viele eigentlich starke Werte als „links“, „naiv“ oder „schlecht“ darzustellen: Menschlichkeit, Solidarität, Antirassismus, Gleichberechtigung, offene Gesellschaft, Schutz von Minderheiten. Dadurch entsteht bei vielen gemäßigten Menschen ein Druckgefühl: Sie stehen eigentlich auf dem Boden der FDGO, laufen aber trotzdem politisch immer stärker der AfD hinterher.

Ich will die freiheitlich-demokratische Grundordnung erhalten, weil ich nicht glaube, dass die AfD unsere Probleme löst — weder kurz- noch langfristig.

Ein Teil des AfD-Erstarkens hängt für mich klar mit 2015 zusammen. Nicht, weil Geflüchtete als Menschen das Problem sind. Nicht, weil Hautfarbe, Herkunft oder Religion automatisch ein Problem wären. Aber weil viele Menschen seitdem das Gefühl haben, bestimmte Konflikte dürften nicht mehr offen angesprochen werden.

Dazu gehören auch Ereignisse, die sich tief ins Sicherheitsgefühl eingebrannt haben und von der AfD propagandistisch ausgeschlachtet werden, welche ich hier nochmal gerne dokumentieren möchte

- Breitscheidplatz 2016 – islamistischer Terroranschlag in Berlin.
- Würzburg 2016 – Axt-/Messerangriff in einem Zug, laut Ermittlern mit politisch-religiösem Motiv; IS-Bezug wurde geprüft.
- Ansbach 2016 – Sprengstoffanschlag eines syrischen Asylbewerbers, mit Hinweisen auf islamistischen Hintergrund.
- Dresden 2020 – tödlicher Angriff auf ein schwules Paar, islamistisch und homophob motiviert.
- Duisburg 2023 – Messerangriff im Fitnessstudio; die Bundesanwaltschaft sprach von IS-Ideologie und Angriffen auf vermeintlich „Ungläubige“.
- Mannheim 2024 – Messerangriff auf eine islamkritische Kundgebung, ein Polizist starb; laut Anklage gab es Sympathien für die Ideologie des IS.
- Solingen 2024 – Messeranschlag auf einem Stadtfest; laut Bundesanwaltschaft handelte der Täter aus radikal-islamistischer IS-Ideologie.
- Magdeburg 2024 Ja, kein „Islamist“ und „Ex-Muslim“ Trotzdem wurde auch diese Tat sofort politisch ausgeschlachtet und hat viele Menschen im „Narrativ“ der AfD bestätigt! Traurig, dass wir mittlerweile soweit sind!!!

Wenn Linke, Demokraten und Menschen, die eine offene Gesellschaft wollen, solche Themen komplett meiden, überlassen sie sie der AfD.

Aber die AfD spricht nicht darüber, weil sie Frauenrechte, queere Menschen, Ex-Muslime oder säkulare Muslime schützen will. Sie spricht darüber, um Angst zu erzeugen, Menschen zu pauschalisieren und „Remigration“ als Lösung zu verkaufen.

Wollen wir ihr das wirklich zulassen?🤷🏼‍♀️

Religion prägt Menschen ungemein in ihrem Sozialverhalten und in ihrer Persönlichkeit aber auch im Denken, Fühlen, Verhalten und in ihren Rollenbildern.

Das gilt für Islam, Christentum und jede andere Religion. Problematisch wird es wenn wir religiöse Vorstellungen über Grundgesetz, Menschenrechte, Gleichberechtigung, Religionsfreiheit oder die Würde anderer Menschen gestellt werden.

Wenn wir das nicht offen ansprechen, wirkt Demokratie unehrlich und unglaubwürdig, dann entsteht genau das Vakuum, das Rechte füllen - wir sind ja mittlerweile alle „Zecken“ - „Alt-Parteiler“ - „Links-Grün-Versiffte“.

Meine Sorge ist, wenn demokratische Kräfte diese Debatte nicht führen, werden es andere machen — mit Hass, Pauschalisierung und extremen Forderungen.
Wir brauchen eine klare, säkulare, menschenrechtsbasierte und antirassistische Kritik an jeder Ideologie, die nicht mit der FDGO vereinbar ist.

Ich spreche mich mittlerweile auch soweit aus, dass sich Linke, Grüne, SPD und CDU oder zumindestens die Flügel, welche sich derer Probleme bewusst sind, zusammenzuschließen. Es ist nicht Rechts gegen Links, sondern Sicherheit gg. Angst und ich werfe es keinem Menschen vor, der Angst hat, nur müssen wir dafür sorgen, dass a) die real größere Angst am Ende von der AfD ausgeht und b) Angst, welche durch idealistisch-religiöse Events, Anschläge und Kultur, steigt, durch progressive Aufklärung minimieren.

Schweigen hilft am Ende nur den Extremen und ich möchte einfach nur mit meinen Mitmenschen zusammenleben und nicht dabei zusehen wie unschuldige Menschen am Ende unter der Politik von idealistischen Faschisten leidet 💔

Reflections After the Widersetzen Demonstration on the Rise of the AfD and the Lack of Open Critical Debate on the Quran

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why the AfD has become so strong in Germany — especially since the 2015 refugee crisis.
Of course, there are many reasons: social insecurity, poverty, fear of downward mobility, failed integration policies, racism, distrust in established parties, media dynamics, real political mistakes, and the feeling many people have that they are not being heard.
But there is one point that, in my opinion, is avoided far too often:
There is too little open, honest, and visible critical discussion in German public life about the Quran, Hadiths, and Islamic teachings in relation to human rights, democracy, gender equality, antisemitism, freedom of religion, apostasy, LGBTQ rights, and the secular rule of law.
And this silence creates a vacuum.
When democratic forces do not speak clearly about these issues, the far right does. But the far right does not talk about them because it wants to protect human rights. It talks about them in order to portray Muslims, migrants, and refugees as a general threat.
That is a fundamental problem.
The AfD became stronger after 2015 because many people in Germany felt overwhelmed, insecure, and not taken seriously. For many refugees and migrants, Islam is part of their identity — just as Christianity, tradition, homeland, or culture are part of the identity of many people in Germany. That alone is not the problem.
The problem begins where religion is treated as untouchable.
When criticism of Islam is automatically dismissed as racism, many people lose trust in left-wing, progressive, and democratic spaces. They get the feeling that real conflicts are being ignored. And then the AfD can present itself as the only force supposedly “brave enough” to talk about these issues.
But the AfD does not want enlightenment.
It wants culture war.
It does not truly care about ex-Muslims.
It does not care about women’s rights.
It does not care about queer people.
It does not care about secular Muslims.
It does not care about human rights.
It uses these issues as weapons against migrants.
That is why I believe ex-Muslims, progressive Muslims, secular people, leftists, and democrats need to speak much more openly about Islam, Quranic interpretation, and religious authority.
Not to attack Muslims as human beings.
Not to fuel racism.
Not to help the AfD.
Human rights are not negotiable.
The Quran must be read historically and critically.
Religious rules must never stand above democratic law.
Women are not worth less than men.
Leaving Islam must be safely possible.
No one should be threatened because of blasphemy or religious criticism.
Antisemitism must not be justified through religion.
LGBTQ people have the same dignity as everyone else.
Islamism does not speak for all Muslims.
Criticism of Islam is not automatically racism.
When these debates do not take place visibly within democratic society, they are occupied by the right.
And that is dangerous for everyone.
Because at some point, many ordinary people start thinking: “The left and the democrats do not take our concerns seriously. Only the AfD talks about the problem.”
That is how the AfD gains more and more space — and uses the topic of “remigration” as one of its biggest political weapons.
Not because every AfD voter is a convinced Nazi.
But because silence, taboos, and denial make democracy look dishonest.
I believe we need something like a Muslim self-enlightenment within the framework of democracy and human rights. A kind of “Luther moment” — not imposed from the outside, not as Islamophobia, but as an internal and public process of criticism, reform, and responsibility.
And ex-Muslims should be heard in this process.
Because people who have left Islam may know exactly where the pressure points are: family pressure, fear of apostasy, patriarchal structures, shame culture, social control, threats, religious guilt, and the lack of freedom to ask questions.
A democratic society must be able to protect Muslims from racism — and at the same time protect ex-Muslims, women, queer people, and dissenters from religious pressure.
Both must be possible.
If we want to take space away from the AfD, we must not leave criticism of Islam to the far right.
We need a human-rights-based, secular, honest, and anti-racist criticism of Islam that clearly distinguishes between Muslims as human beings and religious or political ideas that must be open to criticism.
Silence helps extremists on both sides.
Islamists say: “The West hates you.”
The far right says: “All Muslims are dangerous.”
Both are poison — and hopefully we can all agree on that. 🙏
