Im currently working on my instrument rating and I’ve been meaning to start networking with other pilots and I’m wondering:

At what stage in your training does networking become appropriate?

All the CFIs at my school have a big network of other pilots and they tell me to just talk to people at FBOs and get to know them. I have done that but it usually never leads anywhere. I feel like that’s because I’m still a noobie working on my training, AKA im not an experienced enough pilot for them to want to get to know me. Unlike 600hr CFIs, I dont have any cool ratings to talk about so conversations usually consist of me asking about their flights and future plans, then answering questions they have for me and we go our separate ways. I feel as if I’m missing out on a key part of conversating and that’s why I can’t connect with other pilots. This has left me feeling out of place in this industry and rethinking my career choice.

Also, my school has mainly 141 students from an international program while I’m a 61 student. They don’t timebuild much and once they complete their program, they go back to their country of origin, so I dont have much luck talking to other students at my school either.

Bonus question: what is the best way to find other pilots who are willing to timebuild? What worked for you?

Hi reddit, I’m 19F 100lbs and I’ve had cases of severe acne and cases of mild (but persistent) acne over the span of 4 years. I’ve had lots of topical treatment but it seems that the creams become less effective over time. I was on accutane for 7 months last year and my skin was acne-free for exactly 1 year after I stopped the treatment, then it all came back on a random day last winter.

Because of how sudden it returned and how I cant reasonably pinpoint other factors for my acne (diet, bacteria, product, etc), I really do think it’s hormonal. I really don’t want to go back on accutane because it’s inconvenient, especially those monthly blood tests, and it might not even be a permanent solution the second time around.

The acne now is prominent on my forehead ever since it came back. It also comes and goes on my cheeks and around my mouth. This month’s acne has been literally only on the right side of my face (4 on my cheek, 2 on my eyebrow, 2 on my lip), I sleep on the left side of my face so it can’t be my bedsheets. There are days where it all goes away and comes back 3 days later.

What should I do? Should i get on more tropical treatments or just go on accutane again and hope for permanent results? I was also considering going on birth control to balance my hormones and hopefully reduce my acne. My dermatologist is online and rarely responds now so it’s a hassle trying to contact him.

I got a ticket for rolling a stop sign in March and a speeding ticket (45 in a 30) last month. Which one is worse in terms of adding more points to your record? Which one usually raises insurance rates more? I‘m planning to pay one and go to traffic school for the other one but I’m not sure which one I should go to traffic school for. Any advice?

Hi everyone, I got a speeding ticket for going 45 in a 30 in California by a sheriff a month ago. This is my first ever speeding ticket but my second traffic ticket. I’m not sure what to do, I’m planning on bringing it to court but I dont know what I’m supposed to plead or do in court lol.

Context: I made a left turn from an intersection and saw the cop sitting in a parking lot right off the corner of the street, I didnt pay him any mind and kept driving, a minute later I see him pull out onto the road behind me and turn on his lights. Note: by then, I should’ve been out of his line of sight when I went past the speed limit so I’m not sure if he got me on radar before or after he pulled out. Also, yes I was going over 30 but I don’t believe I was going 45 like he claimed, maybe 40ish. I didn’t ask him anything about radar or how he knew I was going 45, all I did was apologize and told him I’m late somewhere because I panicked.

I’ve heard the usual “go to court and pray the officer doesn’t show up” advice but how true is that? How likely is it that the officer won’t show up? And yes, I also know the best advice is to just not speed at all, but I was running late for school and the road had light traffic so I thought it’d be alright to go a bit faster lol.

More context: ive already done driving school for a previous ticket within the last 18 months so im not eligible. My biggest goal is to keep the point off my insurance record

Hi reddit, has anyone else ever had terrible customer service experience especially with internet service providers like Verizon or T-mobile?

I‘ve had Frontier’s eero internet plan for about two years now. A few months ago I noticed that my plan’s price went up; for reference, I used to pay $30 a month and then they were charging me $60 a month for no reason. I called them and they gave me a discount which brought it back down to $30/mon, but the agent did something with my plan and I got an email saying I have equipment to return. I called them again the next day and the new agent confirmed that I indeed did not have to return any equipment since I didn’t change my plan(?) and that they would flag my account so that it won’t charge me for the missing equipment return fee which is $150.

Fast forward to the next month, the $150 fee was taken out of my bank account anyway 🤦‍♀️ and so I called them again and the third agent tells me that they’ll refund my $150 in credit form to my frontier account and that they’ll prevent the future $150 fee from being taken from my account. IMPORTANT NOTE: while I was troubleshooting with this agent, he was rambling on about wi-fi security and Frontier’s additional services, to which I tell him many times that I am not interested. So we get the billing issue solved eventually and I hang up… to then receive an email 5 minutes later about a “purchase confirmation for monthly wifi security plus”. This agent had placed an order for an additional service to my account without my consent and I had told him no multiple times. So now I have the billing issue with the equipment return fee and a new issue with the wi-fi security plus service. Oh my goodness, I called them a FOURTH time and to cancel the wi-fi security service immediately, which the new agent did.

Fast forward to this month, I get a notification telling me my wifi account is suspended. Guess why? I was charged the $150 unreturned equipment fee AND the wifi security plus (that I had cancelled) despite all of my calls. I’m so lost right now and I have no idea what to do, calling Frontier customer service is like speaking to a wall. Half of the agents dont know what they’re doing, and the other half are actually trying to help, just for the system to charge me anyway.

Please give me advice on what I should do and who I need to talk to at Frontier for this is be fixed once and for all. I’ve been doing this back and fourth with them for months now.
