When will SFT60 5000K become available in Convoy flashlights?

I still have L21B with SFT42R 5000K in the cart, and the only reason I had not pulled the trigger is that SFT60 become available as an option. I read great reviews, but I swore never to get another flashlight with CCT above 5000K after buying from Sofirn.

Don't get me wrong, IF22A is plenty useful for it's purpose, and HS21's flood is a CRI monster at 5000K, but since I have a choice with Convoty, I decided to go warmer.

Favourite emitter ever so far is SFT70 3000K, and until 4000K R95 comes into mass production, and Simon starts offering them, I'm not going to purchase any more "smaller" flashlights. But, I had promised myself a thrower that in theory can reach over 1km, and that was L21B with SFT42R. Ok, it uses 10A, and heats up quite a bit, but... As far as I read from the reviews, at 15A, SFT60 does not produce that much more heat, but produces a lot more lumens, has greater compatibility with secondary optics, at the cost of only a handful candela, compensated for by wider hotspot.

Anyways, as the title says, any news for sft60 5000K?

And do you think i should just but L21B sft42r? It's not cheap to me considering I plan on expanding my collection of Convoys.

Is 3x21B going to get LHP73B as an option and when?

Under Q&A on 3x21B's store page, I saw multiple replies that he is developing a MCPCB, and a driver for LHP73B.

I got M21H with XHP70.3 HI R70 4000K, and am not amazed by the output. It's ok with stock TIR. 8° is too narrow, whereas 36° just loses output, and I think it loses it for real, not just on the spill. Tho I might be wrong. I love strong floodlights.

So, I am hoping that LHP73B could give ne that wow factor since it has better tint and more brightness driven by more than 30W, as I've read. Was tempted to order SFT70, then XHP70.3 in M21B with 8A driver, but it just heats it up more while not forcing much more lumens, not even a noticable difference, which LHP73B does.

Anyhow, correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, and since we are still here, any news when Convoy might start offering SFT70 4000K R95? I would consider overdriving the sssshh out of it. But then, high CRI lights do not need much throw, which automatically voids the need for much brightness.

Why is it not possible to put 22mm 6V 8A boost driver in S21B?

... but Convoy is willing to do so in M21B?

Talking about SFT70 3000K (which generates lots of heat, but takes the beating the same as XHP50/70).

As I understood, both flashlights use a 22mm driver.

Is it the thermal mass he is worried about, for the emitter not to burn out?

I am even considering ordering the parts, and modding / assembling it myself, but for now, I have no real experience modding flashlights, and soldering inside such small closed space.

Btw, that driver is offered inside L21B for XHP70.3, which is a lot more efficient emitter inside a larger host, tho, without MUUUCH better thermal management. I just recieved a message from Simon saying he can't do the order with S21B/G, but can with M21B. Don't wanna bother him any further with fruitless questions. Also, this might spark a discussion, and be useful to others, hence, I'm asking here.

Thanks in advance!

Did I damage the emitter? SFT70 3000K

Or is it normal for the tint to shift on the outer rings to blue / purple on Convoy's 21mm 10° clear TIR?

u/Ok_Profession_8471 — 11 days ago

Best flashlight I had owned so far - Convoy S21B

in gray, SFT70 3000K w/ beaded 30° TIR, and a 6V 5A boost driver.

I use it far more often than M21H.

Been keeping it in the pocked while bartending since I got it 5 days ago.

It even replaced IF22A as a thrower with this optic. But we'll see how long it lasts. Probably till I go mushroom foraging at night again.

I reverted to group 1, regarding UI with memory mode turned off which will be mandatory for every 12-group convoy I buy in the future. 0.1% of 5A is not nearly as dim as I would like real moonlight to be, but 1% in group 5, which is my fav is even worse, tho useful as "low mode" for looking under table, etc. 100% turbo makes sense only outdoors, and 10 and 35% are plenty enough for ceiling bounce as on the balcony, as in a room, and surprisingly, the flashlight does not heat at all on those. It starts getting hot at 50%, which is not much brighter to make a difference to the naked, adapted eye, which is why 100% makes sense only outside in order to give me that punch, that throw distance, so to speak. I both love and hate the UI. Group 1 because of 0.1% and battery check only!

PS. Update on the lost S12-UV: I had no luck finding it during daylight either no matter the black cord standing out in the leaf litter like a thorn in an eye. Guess I'll have to order another one... Before asking Simon for 3xSBT10XUV...

u/Ok_Profession_8471 — 13 days ago

I just lost my Convoy S12-UV.

It's 2 months old and somewhere on the forest floor in grass, leaf litter, and twigs, all alone, on a stretch of 100-200m, 10-15 m walk from the entrance to the woods 30 min away from my home if you were to cycle uphills. Burned through 3000mAh in HS21 lookjng for it for solid hour an a half ... Oh, and it's near a seemingly abandoned tiny house with cast iron doors and windows in the middle of the brush, which is coincidentally the only place I saw fireflies tonight. A rotting animal can be smelt faintly from the inside. Almost supernatural

Here is the last pic taken of it's tripple-emitter glory... Russula Aropurpurea.

Will be back during the day, just ... Could've spent the time doing something else ... And the flashlight is not cheap by my standards (40E including a battery). Today I had gotten a tooth filling for free tho. Guess that cansels it out

Can't decide which Convoy to order. Help between S21B and M21H.

I want and need a flashlight that will spend half it's time on my MTB's handlebars and half handheld assisting me mushroom hunting instead of IF22A, in the woods, alongside HS21.

It needs to be warm and... Half floody.

Was thinking about:

* S21B SFT70 3000K wide TIR

* M21H XHP70.3 R70 4000K

Originally I wanted to order both, but am having second thoughts. Seems counterintuitive to turn a SFT70 flashlight into a flooder, and an XHP70 into a thrower.

I wanted a high CRI compact one, and high output one with good sustain. Seems like the perfect choices, but ...

Do I really need a 3500 LM flashlight? It'd be blinding. And I doubt it'd illuminate down a 100m long tree hugged path before the next turn.

But then... Wouldn't S21B get too hot too soon and sustain only around 500LM, the same as my H25LR which is not a lot to me?

Should I get ONLY M21H with SFT70 3000K?

But then I do not want to change lenses often...

Help, brothers.

Anyone have multiple M21H we could compare?

I'd love to see beams, max lumens / cnadela, sustained... Etc...

Of M21H or similar, preferably 6V5A w/ TIR with:

  • SFT70 3000K
  • XHP70.3 HI R70 4000K
  • LHP73B 4000K

I would love ideally to purchase only one flashlight (M21H) with only one of these emitters, and maybe another S21E or M21K with the other, but, really... I work minimum wage in Serbia, and am on the verge of financial struggle not supporting only myself, but... I think Simon deserves our money.

Anyhow, I strayed too far from the topics. Owners of these beasts, assemble and lend me your comparative strength in the battle of beans and flux!!! Meow

How easy is it to cause damage to the eyes by looking at things lit by UV-A?

So, today I foraged mushrooms for solid 4-6 hours using Convoy S12-UV (9W) w/ 365 nm filter on, intermittently, at max power, and managed to find lots of Russulas which all fluorescense under UV light. Oh, also I burned trough 2 fully charged 5000mAh 21700 batteries. I have PC clear cycling glasses altho I did not use them. Did I do some damage? I feel fine tho. Was mostly using it in combination with Sofirn's HS21 on low (flood or red).

Also, how cooked am I if I continue doing that without wearing glasses?

Pomoć u vezi kupovine Schwalbe spoljašnje gume - okolina Beograda

Pozdrav,

Ostao bih uz Schwalbe jer sam zadivljen dugotrajnošću. Zasad se, koliko googlam, dvoumim između:

Smart Sam Plus (Double Defense) 29x2.1

Marathon Plus (Smart Defense) 29x2.1

Unapred hvala!!

I just found a broken glass lid in the closet of our kitchen.

I got other things to get done before heading off to work which is soon. Won't tell anyone at home until they discover it... It feels terrible, but I don't even have time to type more than this.

Help me correct my wishlist from Convoy:

From the most to the least important to my needs and wishes:

  • M21H sft70 3000K w/ beaded and stripe TIRs for my bicycle.

  • L21B sft40 3000K for ungodly throw across misty hills and meadows as compared to IF22A

  • M21K LHP73B 5000K for maximum power

  • S12 3x519A 4000K because the host is as beautiful as freshly shaven bollox

  • S21E B35AM 4000K cuz why not. Probably bad for MTB, but awesome for camping, hiking, and indoors.

Tho I was contemplating M21H w/ XHP70.3 4000K for handlebars since it doesn't matter which one - no driver other than for sft40 has a spring on it's side. I greatly value lumens, then throw, then spill for bike. But I do not need another low CRI light... Altho XHP70.3 r9050 somehwere in between HI and R9... W/ positive DUV... Shame.

Forgot to post 620nm red light w/ SMO reflector the last time:

Medium, low, high (moonlight is not visible on camera from that distance), white on high.

u/Ok_Profession_8471 — 2 months ago

Some on low, some on mefdium, a few on turbo.

The difference between Orange Peel reflector and a 5° TIR.

Difference between high CRI 5000K and <R70 6500K.

WB not locked.

Was just having fun.

Hope you appreciate the lowest of efforts.

Different lights, different uses. And tbh I do hse them a lot, not just for fun.

I did not want to show my messy apartment, so this is the second quickest I could do beans-vise. Got the flashlight several days ago after 14 days since the package was sent, which was shortly upon I confirmed the order, after deciding which long-wanted UV light to purchase for outdoor use, mainly in a forest to forage mushrooms at nite when the season begins, and after messaging with Simon, and him patiently explaining why some of my requests for custom order were not realistic, also helping me tremendously to decide between S12-UV, and M21A-UV, both of which you can google reviews for specs and what not. Emitters, altho lower power, have grown to me, and the buck-boost driver really does keep Reliance battery in check. I love the SMO reflector aswell. Has a nice range outdoors, about 5-10m at which pigments that reflect UV as white light the most are still visible. The effect is even more pronounced with filter, but it does throw further and act like a proper weak flashlight with usable spill with a clear AR coated lens that lets the white light through.

Now, I took pictures in the following order:

  1. With ZWB2 365nm glass filter lens Low
  2. With filter Medium
  3. With filter High
  4. Control
  5. Without filter - w/ clear glass
  6. With clear glass
  7. No filter
  8. The flashlight
  9. Emitters without filter
  10. Emitters without filter
  11. ...without filter through clear Polycarbonate cycling glasses
  12. Emitters with filter
  13. ...with filter through the anti-UV glasses

I deffinetly am really enjoying using this flashlight, which I did do in the woods, and let me tell you, this is one of my best purchases to this day. Needless to say I am in awe with everything, the aluminum body, ease of swapping lenses, battery, tailstand, rope, button, actual cooling surface of the head, robustness, size and weight, Simon.

I will deffinetly be purasing more Convoy handheld fladhlights.
