May have bit my dog idk he barked at it and led me to it while my cats dumbahh rolled on it but I’m guessing the snake didn’t bite him. Snake never acted aggressively and was 50 ish feet from our pond I think we’ve seen him before but I wanna make sure it’s not venomous

How to prepare a mustang for the dentist

I’ve got this mustang that’s not broke yet, she’s currently in the process of being halter trained but I have to go slow and steady because she has some trauma from the last time someone tried to “train” her by flooding until she panicked and ran through several fence panels. Just the other day she cleared a fence just bc she got separated from her herd for a moment so I know she still has high anxiety with being away from them.

Now she’s got this thing where she chews weird and drops most of her feed on the ground if I don’t put her tea in there long enough for it to soften the feed so I’d like to get someone out here to look in her mouth but I’m not sure what all I need to do to prepare. I’m worried it will further traumatize her but I know there’s a few tricks that can make it less stressful for her like desensitization to different tools/sensations, lightly sedating her before the appointment, etc. what else can I do?

Rain barrel for showering instead of well water?

Considering the pros and cons of getting a water collection system. Currently I’m in an rv that received well water and it’s ruining my hair bc of the harness. Given I make sure the rain collected wouldn’t be worse for my hair, would it be worth it to set a system up? Or should I just invest in a good filter for my current water?

How to convince my dogs other owner not to breed him?

So I’ve been doing some research on breeding and I think I posted about it on this sub before describing the situation, but basically I have this male American Akita who’s other owner desperately wants to breed him and I’ve been telling him for months that it’s not a good idea but he’s firm enough on it to be willing to get into an argument with me about it.

My Akita is not breed standard as per his temperament, he’s basically a golden retriever and the other owner wants to breed to get a puppy with similar temperament. I told him the likelihood of that is very low since anyone willing to breed their bitch to him would be a backyard breeder and thus not reliable when it comes to predicting outcomes for temperament compatibility. On top of that, he’s never been shown, done genetic testing, etc. I told him that if he wants another dog like him he should just buy a golden retriever bc the research I’ve done shows clearly that this wouldn’t be a good idea and would not uphold breed standards for the continuation of the breed.

I’ve told him I don’t want to contribute to more people like the breeder we got him from fooling people into thinking these puppies are all glowing to grow up to be like my dog and then end up like the other dog someone i know got from the same breeder that was aggressive to dogs, small animals and also humans. That’s not fair to anyone involved including and especially to those dogs who are just expressing their breeds traits. He doesn’t care, he just yells about how he’s gonna do whatever he wants with his dog and that I think I know everything. I told him that at least I see the value in trying to research and he brushed it off. This is especially frustrating because I’m currently in the process of getting a service dog prospect, and I wouldn’t be able to do that at all if he got another puppy. We also live in an rv (granted, on 18 acres but it gets hot here so my Akita stays inside a lot) which is already crowded with my dog and two cats which is why I chose a specific breed for my service prospect that is smaller. It just seems so inconsiderate, defensive, and honestly possessive. I don’t know how to handle this situation bc it ends up an argument every single time. What do I do?

Edit: I am not a legal owner on the dogs registration

Update: other owner is in agreement not to breed him. I presented the idea of saving his specimen to use when he’s older or passed since attempting to raise a puppy right now would ruin my chances of success with a sdit. Thank you to everyone who has shared ideas and educational resources!

Do I need to protect my sd emergency vet money to maintain status?

I live in the us and am in the process of getting a service dog, I’m worried that the money I save for medical emergencies will interfere with my disability payments and status. Specifically, for my states Medicaid and a form of ssdi that I am currently applying for. I also have another dog and a horse that I need an even larger emergency vet fund for (if you have horses you know they love to get themselves hurt lol). I’ll be getting pet insurance but I’d like to have money saved too. I know there are certain resources I can use to save up money without effecting my status, is that necessary for this? Or do i just need a specific account allocated to funding for this as it pertains to my disability?

Service dog for preventing relapse?

I’m starting to make progress in my agoraphobia recovery and am wondering if anyone knows if service dogs are particularly useful for preventing relapses in recovery? Since most of us are prone to relapse and I specifically know I am.

Ive considered getting a service dog for a while now but have been afraid I won’t be able to properly train since I wasn’t able to go into public very well but now I’m able to go into a specific store that allows all dogs so I take my dog there and it brings me a lot of relief but this store is known in self training/guided training for being a solid store to take younger SDITs to. Also I’d been putting it off for years because I hear that it can be counterproductive to become overly reliant on a service dog as you start recovery so now that I’m progressing that might be less of an issue.

I’m getting disability support soon so I’ll finally be able to afford to do everything properly as I want so it’ll be less financially stressful as well. My agoraphobia is caused by paranoid personally disorder so relapse is mot not rlly something that can just be avoided by treating the “root cause” as it’s usually a lifetime condition, but I am starting anxiety meds soon so I’ll think more abt it, just wanted to see if anyone in here has any experience or insights on the topic
