Fast paced vacation reads?

I’m looking for some books to read at a lake house. It doesn’t need to be light but I’d like the books to be fast paced. Some books that I’ve liked that are similar to what I’m looking for are A Good Person, Just Watch Me, Big Swiss, Milk Fed, Fruit Fly, and Convenience Store Woman. This is my last bit of summer reading so I’m hoping to find some good books!

Books that feel like autumn

I get excited about making seasonal lists and I’m making my fall TBR. I’d love to put some fall feeling nyrb books on there. What books do you recommend for fall? I loved reading Abigail and Stoner in the fall!

Best vacation book?

I’m going on a beach vacation and of course I’m planning on reading the whole time. What nyrb books are good for beach reading? I’m thinking Dud Avocado or Three Summers.

Growing collection!

I’m up to 170 now! All of these were less than 6 dollars each at used bookstores in Maryland. Have you read any? What do you recommend?

In the Freud Archives?

Has anyone read In the Freud Archives? I just randomly came across it but haven’t heard anything about it. The Goodreads reviews are good. What do you think?

Book club suggestions

I’m starting a book club where it’s all moms in their mid 30s to early 40s and everyone likes different types of books so I’m trying to figure out what the first book should be.

I love literary fiction as long as it’s not cheesy and saccharine. One person doesn’t like sad literary fiction. Other genres people like are fantasy, sci-fi, and thrillers but I don’t like straight thrillers. I like literary mysteries like Long Bright River and Notes in an Execution.

I also read a couple hundred books a year so it needs to be obscure enough where I haven’t read it but at least a year old so we can find it at the library.

Some books I was thinking would be good for this would be The Calamity Club, Red City, Blood Over Bright Haven, and Project Hail Mary. I’ve read all these though

I know this is a complicated ask. I appreciate your suggestions!

Such a great book!

This is gorgeously written and perfectly paced. I loved it so much. I wish it were 300 pages longer. What a weird little thing! Will you read this when it comes out? Have you read The Invention of Morel?
