Wanted to give it a try, with all the lit candles recently posted. Hope you guys are not tired of it 🤓 Ideal subject for the black paper.
First try with black paper, 29x21 cm. Not the best result, but there are some positives 🍀🤓
I gave it a try with the same reference photo to see the difference between the first oil pastel attempt and now.
I've kept a similar approach with the same arrangement, to see the subtle details.

Almost exactly 4 months have passed and 40 "paintings" were made.

I was hoping for more tbh, but hey ho 🤷

Could you tell the difference?

Felt a bit like solving a sudoku of values and overlapping forms 😬🤦
Assignment from my wife, inspired by Motaz Albashar. Not exactly my style, but wanted to give it a try 🤷
How the simplest things are hardest to paint 🤦
I'm pulled this way, style-wise. Just wanted to see how it comes across. Let me know. 21x15cm sketchbook.
Had this set up yesterday in the kitchen, with the sun shining on a black table. With the light changing, pastels melting, sun setting.. quite a chase to capture the essence, mood and energy.
Not accurate proportionally, but i like it enough to share it 😊
Not perfect, yet still a satisfying moment to see these scattered on the field.. messy and somehow sorted at the same time.
Mixing it again. Pastel pencils and oil pastels. Can the cat beat the egg - social experiment test 🤓🍀
Pastel pencils and oil pastels. What's your experience?
Looking back at the early creation, compared to one of the recent. 32 months apart. Oil classic paint coach tutorial vs the oil pastel eye sketch. Do you ever look back to see how much progress you have made?
