Need a second opinion about a study I found. Where should I ask?

I ran into this study which suggests that, among Americans:

  • 41% personally know a trans person
  • 89% agree that “transgender people should have the same ability as anyone else to get the healthcare they need.”
  • 79% agree or strongly agree that “transgender people should be protected from discrimination in hiring and employment.”
  • 83% agree or strongly agree that “transgender students should be protected from discrimination and harassment in schools.”

Here is the article and the document detailing the methodology.

These are very encouraging numbers, but I find them a little hard to believe, given the utter state of things right now. I want to get a second opinion on this study and its methodology. Where would be the best place to get one?

Blinding stew? How about blinding AND stew?

The situation

I thought I was being so clever, routing shine bug eggs directly to my kitchen to be cracked for resin. I thought the kitchen being nice and cool for my dupes' comfort would have no drawbacks whatsoever.

The culprit

Nope. Egg cracker gets entombed in solid resin, which means the eggs don't get cracked, which means a flood of shine bugs. Good thing I was playing base game, cause if I was playing spaced out this would have suuuuucked

Hengist Duval's ghost just tried to kill me in real life

So there I was, on a Wednesday evening. I had just gone out to eat, and was settling down to play some Elite: Dangerous. Finally, time to get G5 access to Liz Ryder.

I delivered the last load of landmines and brought over my Cobra MkV to put some High Cap on the seeker missile racks. What should I do for experimental effects? I'm thinking Overload, but perhaps even drag munitions for piracy. Who knows? This is exciting!

Suddenly I notice my stomach feels uncomfortable. Probably nothing.

I finish putting High Cap on one of the seeker racks and decide on Overload munitions. Piracy can wait until I get packhounds.

I got a message. Etienne Dorn is interested in doing business, and I now have intel on Hera Tani! I'm particularly excited for G5 power plant engineering but Dorn might also-

Okay, now my stomach actually kinda hurts. I'll have to look into that in a bit.

I look at the requirements for unlocking Hera Tani and my heart sinks a little. ‘Rank of Outsider or higher with the Empire’. Sure it's only one rank, but that means I'll have to do something nice for the Empire! I've spent a lot of time being nice to everyone except the Empire, and taking every opportunity to piss the Empire off! I don't want to-

And then it happened. The mild pain in my gut suddenly escalated. I was now in so much pain I could hardly think. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was in more pain than I had ever felt in my entire life.

In a haze of confusion and agony I turned off the game and hobbled off in search of water and/or medicine.

Half an hour later, now that the pain has subsided thanks to a Pepto Bismol, a bunch of water and multiple bathroom visits, I can think of only two explanations for what just happened. One, something I ate at that pizza place really didn't sit with me, or two - and I find this one more likely - Hengist Duval was so offended by the notion of me gaining even one Imperial rank that his ghost reached through the fourth wall and attempted to wrench my guts out.

I get it, man. The feeling's mutual.

Anyway, what's the current meta for gaining one rank with the Empire?

This thing terrifies me.

This post may seem quaint to more experienced players, but as a relative newbie, I'm still reeling from what I just experienced.

This is my Alliance Chieftain, seen here tracking the scent of a pirate some days ago. I named her 'Vercingetorix', because the thought of a ship named after a British tank being nicknamed after a Gaulish chief was very funny to me. It's my first medium ship, and one of the oldest and most dependable ships in my fleet.

But something has changed.

You see, I finally decided to put some effort into unlocking engineers, and I finally managed to get her some G5 Dirty Drag drives, courtesy of Prof. Palin. She lifted lazily off the pad from Abel Laboratories, retracted her landing gears, and boosted… to 531m/s.

I gaped. Literally, my jaw dropped, completely involuntarily. I've never piloted ANYTHING that fast. I had to try to kill something with this. So I went to the nearest haz-res to try it out.

Here I am, having logged off about half an hour ago, palms still sticky from sweat. Three NPCs dead. Cut to ribbons by two Size 3 overcharged multicannons. They never stood a chance.

I feel like I just watched a college roommate rip out someone's spine. I didn't know someone I knew so well was capable of this kind of… barbarity.

I'm particularly glad I got the G3 Charge Enhanced PD from Marco Qwent before coming there, as I didn't have to mess with my pips very much. I couldn't. I was busy hanging on for dear life as my former Chieftain flew circles around a Clipper desperately popping shield cell banks.

Yes, former Chieftain. Like I said, something has changed. She's not a Chieftain anymore. She's something else. Something with the speed and handling of a small ship, with enough firepower to send large ships scrambling to get out of mass lock.

She's not a Chieftain anymore. It's a night terror. Materializing out of the black and disappearing just as suddenly, leaving a trail of mangled steel and gore in its wake.

I love this thing. I need to get a dark livery on her immediately.

Also thanks to u/CatatonicGood for helping with my build.

I may have just stumbled into a Type-7 exploration build

I was just f▒cking around on Coriolis, trying to see what I could do with the Type-7, because I wanted to give the underdog some love. I remembered The Pilot, in his video about the Type-7, said it didn't have a great jump range for exploring. I decided to test that.

I started with the basics. Stripped out the optional modules, D-rated the core modules, put in a 5A Frame Shift Drive (SCO) and a Guardian FSD booster and got 43ly of jump range.

That's… not half bad, actually.

So I decided to take it a bit further with some engineering. Grade 5 Increased Range on the FSD with Mass Manager, and now we're up to an astonishing 62ly of jump range. That's not far off what a Phantom can do.

So now I have a build with an SRV bay, an AFMU (D-rated, but still), two free class 6 optional slots and 57ly of jump range. I'm seriously considering trying it.

Now, this definitely doesn't make the Type-7 a good exploration ship. It still overheats too quickly, and the AFMU might be too small for your tastes (this is why I included the module reinforcement). Plus the jump range, while surprisingly good, is not quite at the level of the dedicated exploration ships. But it's surprisingly good for a ship I once thought wouldn't be very good at anything.

Edit: Thanks u/gkar_falcon for suggesting a 4A power plant instead of the 5D. Also added the module reinforcement to the build
