My First Off-Road Ride
Today I was honestly at the point of giving up. I crashed or dropped the bike around six times during the ride, and by the end of the day my hands were so exhausted I could barely grip anything anymore. Most of the crashes happened near Reward Mine on steep uphill sections filled with loose rocks and boulders. Picking the bike back up became incredibly difficult, so I eventually called for a tow truck, but every company I contacted told me they don’t deal with motorcycles. At that point I seriously thought I was done and almost gave up completely.
Then, almost like a miracle, another rider happened to pass by and stopped to help me. Not just once, but twice. He made it look so easy, but to me it honestly felt like a lifesaver moment. Without him, I probably would’ve still been stuck out there.
Later I stopped by a repair shop and found out my tire pressure was at 45 PSI. The mechanic said that was way too high for off-road riding and probably the reason I had almost no grip. They lowered it to around 25–30 PSI, and after that the bike felt dramatically more stable and controllable off-road.
Today also made me realize I packed way too much stuff for this trip. The extra weight made the bike much harder to handle. Next time I’m definitely packing much lighter.
