കോളേജ് കഴിഞ്ഞ് എനിക്ക് പ്ലേസ്മെൻ്റ് കിട്ടി എറണാകുളത്ത് ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന സമയം..
അതൊരു ചെറിയ ജോലിയായിരുന്നു.. ആ ജോലി കിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അച്ഛൻറെ അടുത്തു ഒരുപാട് വാശി പിടിച്ചു ഇനി അച്ഛൻ ജോലി ചെയ്തത് മതി എന്ന്.. പക്ഷേ അച്ഛൻ പറഞ്ഞു എൻറെ ജോലി വെച്ച് വീട് നോക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ല അതുകൊണ്ട് ജോലി നിർത്തുന്നില്ല എന്ന്.. ഞാൻ വൈകി ജനിച്ചത് ആളാണ്.. അച്ഛൻറെയും അമ്മയുടെയും വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞ് പത്തുവർഷം കഴിഞ്ഞാണ് ഞാൻ ജനിച്ചത്.. അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കോളേജ് കഴിയുമ്പോൾ അച്ഛന് പ്രായമായി.. പിന്നെ അച്ഛൻ ഒരു പ്രവാസി ആയത് കൊണ്ട് അച്ഛനും അമ്മയ്ക്കും ഒരുമിച്ചുള്ള ഒരു ജീവിതവും കുറവ് ആയിരുന്നു..അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അച്ഛനോട് ജോലി നിർത്താൻ ഞാൻ പറയുന്നത്.. എനിക്ക് ജോലി കിട്ടിയ സമയത്ത് തന്നെയാണ് അമ്മയ്ക്ക് കുറച്ച് അസുഖങ്ങളൊക്കെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്.. എല്ലാം കൂടിയായി ഞാൻ നല്ല ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ള ഒരു സമയത്തിൽ കൂടെയായിരുന്നു പോയിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നത്..
അതിൻറെ കൂടെ ശമ്പളമില്ലാത്ത കുഞ്ഞു ജോലി രാവിലെ 9 മണിക്ക് കയറിയാൽ വെളുപ്പിന് രണ്ടു മണി മൂന്നുമണിവരെ ചില ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ വർക്ക് ചെയ്യണം.. എല്ലാം കൂടി ഞാൻ ജോലി വിടാം എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചു.. അങ്ങനെ എൻറെ ബർത്ത് ഡേ തലേദിവസം ആയിരുന്നു മൂന്നു മാസത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടാവുന്ന ജോലിയിലെ മാനേജ്മെൻറ് റിവ്യൂ...
ആ മീറ്റിംഗിൽ ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു ഞാൻ റിസൈൻ ചെയ്യുകയാണ്.. അവർ കുറെ പറഞ്ഞു റിസൈൻ ചെയ്യരുത് കണ്ടിന്യൂ ചെയ്യണം എന്നൊക്കെ പക്ഷേ ഞാൻ എന്തോ ഒരു വാശിക്ക് resign ചെയ്തു..
അങ്ങനെ എൻറെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും മോശം ബർത്ത് ഡേ ആയിരിക്കും എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ച് ഒരു ബർത്ത് ഡേ ആണ് അത്...
ഞാൻ ആ സമയത്ത് NGO വേണ്ടി കുഞ്ഞു കുട്ടികൾക്ക് ക്ലാസ് എടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രോഗ്രാമിന് അപ്ലൈ ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.. യാദൃശ്ചികമായി അതിൻറെ ക്ലാസ്സ് എൻറെ ബർത്ത് ഡേ അന്നുതന്നെ വന്നു..
അങ്ങനെ ജോലിയൊക്കെ റിസൈൻ ചെയ്ത് വളരെ വിഷമിച്ച ഒരു മൂഡിലാണ് ഞാൻ ആ ക്ലാസ്സ് എടുക്കാൻ പോകുന്നത്.. ഞാൻ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ കുട്ടികളൊക്കെ മരത്തിൻറെ ചുവട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് എൻറെ കൂടെയുള്ള വേറെ ആളുകൾ അവർക്ക് എന്തൊക്കെയോ പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട് കുട്ടികൾ കളിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.. എൻറെ കൂടെയുള്ളവരെയും ഞാൻ ആദ്യമായിട്ടാണെന്ന് കാണുന്നത്... പെട്ടെന്ന് വളരെ സർപ്രൈസിങ് ആയി ആ കുഞ്ഞു കുട്ടികൾ വളരെ ഇന്നസെൻറ് ആയി എല്ലാവരും ഒരുമിച്ച് ഹാപ്പി ബർത്ത് ഡേ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു പാട്ട് പാടി എന്നെ ബർത്ത് ഡേ വിഷ് ചെയ്തു.. ആ കുഞ്ഞു കുട്ടികളെ അത്രയും ഇന്നസെൻസ് ഓടുകൂടി വിഷ് ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് എന്തോ സന്തോഷവും വിഷമവും എല്ലാം കൂടി ഒരുമിച്ചു വന്നു.. അതൊരു പ്രത്യേക ഫീൽ ആയിരുന്നു.. ബർത്ത് ഡേ ഒന്നും അങ്ങനെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ആളല്ല ഞാൻ... NGO ഉള്ള ആരോ എൻ്റെ ബർത്ത്ഡേ ആണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കി സർപ്രൈസ് തന്നത് ആണ്..അങ്ങനെ ഒരു പൊട്ട ബർത്ത് ഡേ ആവുമെന്ന് വിചാരിച്ച ആ ദിവസം ആ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെ വിഷസ് കാരണം നല്ലൊരു ഒരു സ്പെഷ്യൽ ബർത്ത് ഡേ ആയി...
ആ മോമെൻ്റ് ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോഴും ഓർക്കുന്നുണ്ട്..

Usually I am a quiet person..so I don't talk a lot. But sometimes, someone unexpectedly comes and starts talking..and suddenly I am talking nonstop, feeling comfortable, and even surprising myself like… “What… I can actually do this?” It happens so rarely for me, that is why it makes me genuinely happy when it happens. I work in Dubai and I am currently early well (4 lakh to 5 lakhs rupees per month), and I love my job. It’s comfortable, respected, and financially good. But for the past few years.. I have been feeling isolated here from society.. nature..and life outside work. Not many opportunities to truly connect or explore and that feeling has been growing. (I have few friends here.. we go for playing badminton, hikes, movies and do house parties..other than that nothing)
So after thinking about it for a long time, I have finally decided to move back to Kerala soon. It’s something I really wanted… but now that it’s getting closer, I’m also feeling anxious.
How is life in Kerala now.. if living alone in cities like Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, or Thrissur.. What kind of monthly expenses should I expect for rent + basic living?
