22F - writer, editor, AI trainer & multi-skilled remote worker looking for a remote job with flexible hours

Hi everyone, I'm a university student and published author. I'm looking for genuine, reliable remote work I can take on around my studies. I don't have narrow "one lane" expertise, I have a wide range of real experience across writing, AI training, design, content, and remote support work.

Writing & Editing

  • Content writing, blog posts
  • Ghostwriting and essay writing (personal essays, Substack/Medium)
  • Poetry and creative writing (published author, two books)
  • Editing, proofreading, manuscript development
  • Translation and transcription (English)
  • Academic support like: assignments, editing, and presentation-building

AI Training & Data Work

  • AI response evaluation and quality review (direct RLHF experience with OpenAI)
  • Content annotation and labeling
  • Business/data verification calling — worked on an OpenAI project with DoorDash calling restaurant branches to verify live menu items against app listings (not call center or dispatch work, so not looking for those)

Design (Canva)

  • E-books, presentations, and pitch decks
  • Social media graphics and ad design
  • Schedules, trackers, and planning templates
  • Branding and stationery design

Content, Audio & Video

  • Short-form video filming and editing, brand content
  • Podcasting, writing, producing, and hosting (grew a show to 9,000+ listeners)
  • Voiceover work

Remote/Virtual Assistant Support

  • Inbox/DM management
  • Scheduling and calendar organization

I'm looking for: Part-time work, 2–3 hours a day, maybe 3–4 days a week.
$250–300/month, bi-weekly payouts preferred.

Does anyone know of a job where any of this would be useful, or a job that would require my skills? Feel free to drop a comment or DM me.

Anyone Else Finding AI Data Annotation Incredibly Frustrating Lately?

Anyone Else Finding AI Data Annotation Incredibly Frustrating Lately?

I started doing AI data annotation and RLHF training as a side hustle because the flexibility and pay sounded great compared to food delivery, but the reality is becoming exhausting. The feast-or-famine cycle is brutal—you'll have a great week followed by days staring at an empty queue. On top of that, platforms like Outlier and DataAnnotation offer almost zero communication; guidelines change overnight, projects vanish, and support is a total black box.

I have the writing and analytical skills for the work, but navigating these platform hurdles completely alone feels like a guessing game. For those of you actually making steady money with this right now, how are you managing the dry spells and sudden changes? I could really use some advice or tips on how to keep a stable queue.

Which specific platform has been giving you the most headaches lately?

Would anyone like referring to Data Annotation

I have been accepted and I can provide codes to anyone who would like one, thanks!

Of course it isn't a guaranteed way in but it can't hurt!

Beware, Handshake AI are scammers.

I went through the signup process a couple weeks ago, including uploading my license for identity verification. After completing this process and trying to browse available work, the website claimed that I needed to go through the identity verification process again. I emailed support and asked why. After a week I get an email back stating that they were unable to complete the identity verification and I need to provide additional information to verify my identity, such as a college diploma. I emailed a picture of my diploma. An entire week later, I received the following email back:

^(Thank you for your patience while we reviewed your appeal. After a thorough review, we have decided to uphold the ban on your Handshake AI account.)
^(While we understand this may be disappointing, please note that this decision is final. We’re unable to provide additional details about the ban or respond to further inquiries regarding this decision.)

Also received an additional email "Notice of Handshake AI account deactivation":

^(We’re contacting you because our team identified irregular activity associated with your account that does not align with our platform policies and usage expectations. After review, your account was determined to have violated the terms of our agreement.)

^(As a result, we have deactivated your Handshake AI account, effective immediately.)

I basically did nothing with the account other than try to see what jobs are available. The fact that they claim that they can't provide any additional info about my account "ban" and take so long to respond makes this website an obvious scam. Furthermore, their website (yes a website for supposed AI jobs) is littered with grammatical errors.

Anyone on Reddit that claims otherwise is an obvious shill. As a victim of identity theft in the past, I will be reporting these scammers to the FTC as well as other websites.

Please do not attempt to signup for this shitty scam site!

Looking for remote work (no phone/camera) – 110 WPM, AI annotation experience, open to almost anything

Hi everyone,

I'm based in the U.S and looking for a legitimate remote job that I can start as soon as possible.

A few things about me:

  • 110 WPM typing speed
  • Experience with AI annotation/evaluation (Outlier and similar work)
  • Strong writing and English skills
  • Good with Excel, Canva, and basic Photoshop/video editing
  • Comfortable doing repetitive tasks
  • Fast learner and detail-oriented
  • Very flexible with work times

I'm specifically looking for jobs that don't require phone calls or being on camera. I'm completely fine communicating through email or chat.

I've already tried platforms like Outlier and DataAnnotation, but there has been barely any work available, so I'm looking for alternatives.

I'm interested in things like:

  • Data entry
  • Chat/email support
  • AI evaluation or AI-related work
  • Virtual assistant (text-based)
  • Proofreading/editing
  • Content moderation
  • Administrative support
  • Any other legitimate remote work that doesn't require calls

If anyone has recommendations for companies, websites, or jobs that are actually hiring (not survey sites), I'd really appreciate it. Also, if anyone wants to hire me informally, let me know.

Thanks!

The honest truth about using AI data annotation as a side hustle right now

If you’re looking for a solid way to make extra money on your own schedule, AI data annotation and RLHF training are actually incredibly viable options right now. You’ve probably seen some of the crazy hype on social media promising easy thousands, but the reality is much more grounded. It’s an excellent, high-flexibility gig economy option, but it definitely comes with its own headaches. The biggest selling point is that you can truly log on and work from anywhere at any time, and the baseline pay for general writing and evaluation tasks usually beats out standard food delivery or rideshare apps without putting wear and tear on your car. Plus, you get a front-row seat to how major language models are being shaped behind the scenes, which is pretty cool if you're into tech.

That said, we need to talk about the flip side because the industry can be deeply frustrating if you go into it blind. The main drawback is that the work is entirely task-based and project availability can fluctuate wildly, meaning you might have an amazing week followed by a stretch where you're stuck in an empty queue waiting on a new allocation. The onboarding assessments on platforms like DataAnnotation, Outlier, or Alignerr can take weeks to hear back from, and the communication from corporate support is notoriously slow and opaque. You’re essentially working in a silo, and when project guidelines suddenly change or a project channel disappears overnight, you’re left to figure out the technical changes completely on your own.

You don't need a computer science degree to get started, but you do need a solid level of baseline technical literacy, sharp logical reasoning, and excellent writing skills. Generalist roles usually require you to fact-check statements, write complex prompts, and explain in meticulous detail why one AI response is structurally or factually better than another. If you have a background in areas like coding, mathematics, or legal writing, you can unlock much higher-paying specialized tiers, but even at the entry level, attention to detail is everything. If you’re tired of trying to figure out these platform guidelines by yourself or just want a transparent space to share vetted leads and compare pay rates, hit me up or drop a comment below and I'll send over an invite link to our community Discord so you don't have to navigate the grind alone!

Found a flexible remote AI-work platform that may be worth trying

I know a lot of people here are looking for remote work that does not involve fixed shifts, constant calls, or a long hiring process, so I thought I would share this.

I recently joined Outlier. It is a freelance platform where people help review and improve AI responses. The tasks can involve checking answers, ranking responses, writing explanations, or doing work related to your background and skills.

It is not a guaranteed full-time job, and the amount of available work can vary, so I do not want to oversell it. You may also need to complete assessments and verification before getting access to projects. Still, for someone looking for flexible online work, it may be worth checking out.

Here is my referral link:

https://app.outlier.ai/expert/referrals/link/akXwvuUBg1blxGIh9xcF87vb3rI

Full disclosure: this is a referral link, so I may receive a reward if you qualify and complete the required milestones. It should not reduce your pay or affect your application.

If anyone here has already tried Outlier, it would also be useful to hear what your experience has been like.

How likely is it that I can get some form of remote job as a fresh college graduate with a bachelor's in Computer Engineering?

Ridiculous, I know. But I'll be graduating soon with a bachelor's in Computer Engineering from a US university. I'll make the question simple: how likely is it that I'll be able to find a remote job within a reasonable period after graduating? Unfortunately, that means I don't have relevant work experience yet, but:

  • I'll take virtually anything, even if it's not related to my major.
  • It doesn't have to pay well, I'll take $30,000/year if that's what it takes.
  • I'm willing to put in effort all day every day to find something and I'm in a position where I have support. Again, I'll take practically anything.

Otherwise, is there an advisable course of action? Perhaps find an in-person job, work it for some amount of time(?), then restart the search? Also, hypothetically, if I had a spouse that was a Dutch citizen, would that make it possible for me to perhaps find remote work somewhere in Europe? This is a very real possibility for me.

I want to make it happen (a lot of other people do too, yes I know).

Get Paid For Omegle Conversations

Hey All,

I just started working for Babel Audio earlier this month. I found them through a Google ad while applying for other AI companies. It's honestly been really fun and reminds me of Omegle. Basically, you get paired up with a random person, and the goal is to have a normal conversation. The latest project that I've been working on is English Video 2, where you showcase an item in your room and have a conversation with a random person about it.

I currently earn $100 a day through tasks, but I started with $30/day. Each session is 3-5minutes long and pays $50/hour. You have a limit of tasks you can do daily, you start with 10 tasks, but I've seen some people go up to 50.

You need a microphone and camera; many people use AirPods and their laptop cameras. You get paid every Tuesday, and all your tasks get tracked instantly. I haven't had any issues with payouts yet.

They just opened English Video 2, so get in while you can. Dm me for a referral if you'd like. You get priority processing and $50 while I get a referral bonus.
