These courses are such a waste of time if you’ve already done biology in HSC. I get it’s supposed to be for people who have never done hsc bio but isn’t that what bridging courses are for? Why not do a bridging course for those who haven’t done hsc bio and teach new stuff in the actual units? Or maybe don’t make those units mandatory if you’ve done HSC biology. I just can’t believe I’m paying over a thousand dollars to learn about Charles Darwin for the quadrillionth time. It’s ACTUALLY torture and it’s making me consider switching universities.

Just a heads up: This is a criticism of the misogynistic and patriarchal writing patterns of the story so if you don’t want to see this story criticised don’t read further. I get that this IS a fan page and not everyone wants to hear negativity surrounding the series they like. Also this is not a sophisticated think piece but more so just a rant.

Now I USED to be a yuunoa shipper. This isn’t coming from a place of malice but rather disappointment. I don’t think her having a crush on a male character inherently makes her badly written. She was a character that just happened to have a crush on Yuu (and it was quite sweet imo) but then it became SO forced and her whole character arc started to revolve around him. It’s been marginally better in some recent chapters but still not great lol.

Kagami just can’t write women. I don’t think a single member of the female cast passes the Bechdel test and it’s even WORSE in the LN (the light novels are genuine some of the most misogynistic things I’ve read but that’s another topic). I think that’s the reason this community in particular has so much bl content. Kagami doesn’t write the women like actual people and thus the depth of their relationships suffer too. This leads to the only connections that feel genuine are between the male cast.

What’s even MORE frustrating is seeing the relationships between the women in the series get sidelined and not fully explored in favour for romance arcs. Mahiru and Shinoa’s relationship was SO INTERESTING. It would’ve been so cool to see Shinoa’s conflicting feelings about Mahiru and see how that trauma affects her to this day. Mitsuba and her sister are even worse. I can count on one hand how many times Aoi’s dynamic with mitsuba was even mentioned (but no Aoi still had PLENTY of time to make out with kureto in the middle of a battle field)

Sorry to make this post with everyone posting about her right now. All the clips from the anime just reminded me of how deeply I loved anime Shinoa and how seeing her progression and slowly watching myself fall out of love with her just depresses me.

TLDR: I’m sick of the women in this show being diminished and having all other their relationships with non male characters sidelined.
