With Tekken being my main 3D fighter; there's something about VF that's hits different and love the level of unpredictability from this most recent tournament.

So why is the fantasy genre so popular with Conservative Christians & Mormons??

Hey y'all,

So this has been something sitting in my brain for quite some time. Like personally I like more more dark, urban and sword & sorcery type fantasy. But I've noticed high fantasy is huge with not just Mormons but Conservative Christians as well. If it's not Disney (which Disney adults are their own problem); Harry Potter, LotR, Chronicles of Narnia and let's not forget the author that's held above all other authors in Utah; Brandon Sanderson. Now full disclosure, I'm not hating on him (he's a good writer); I hate how overhyped he is in Utah, but I digress.

Is fantasy so big in Utah because they aren't allowed to watch R-rated movies?? Just curious, and if you're reading this on a lovely Sunday. Thank god you're not a church and have a blessed day.

So...what about Buddha??

Hey y'all,

So my landlord's wife is Mormon (he's Catholic) and the missionaries came to visit today. They were teaching about the Great Apostasy and I couldn't help but have a simple thought...what about Buddha?? Surely God could factor in a prince on the other side of the and how his gospel could be restored right?? Right??!

I really wish this was true...but it isn't. [6 years Ex-Mo]

EDIT: LONG POST, so read if you're interested. And if you're not, do what makes you happy because your happiness isn't dependent on a cult. You're still here?? Cool.

Hey everybody,

Hope you're all doing well. For context, I've been out of the church now for about 6 years give or take (left during COVID, was PIMO since I was 16 even as a missionary) and the faith transition has been the BIGGEST rollercoaster in my personal experience. I've had good days, I've had bad days. I've had days where alcohol & coffee are so cool; and I've had days where I was sitting in a jail cell forcing to face my own actions (a story for another time maybe). Family dynamic is weird which is expected, sadly. With all that being said there's a small part of me that wishes the church is true. Saying that out loud sounds ridiculous and you're probably wondering "why the hell are you saying this on subreddit that's focused on DISPROVING the church?" and rightfully so. A bit of cognitive dissonance for sure and simply put...it was all that I knew growing up.

My parents were super strict with the church and for them it gave them a purpose; I mean they were converts after all. For me and for some other siblings it was a different circle of hell. What was suppose to give us comfort, only drove us into conflict. What was suppose to provide a security blanket ending up being stitched together with lies and manipulation. The lies were warm & comfortable until it wasn't. The Book of Mormon was another testament of Jesus Christ until one day I said "Fuck a savior". The answers I tried searching for couldn't be answered from church leaders. Bishops, Sunday School Teachers, Apostles, Jessiyca from down the road. Down to me meeting two Apostles (Cook & Rasband if you're curious). And when everybody else talked about "feeling their light" from them. Personally; I saw two business men that had an appearance to maintain and the product was religion. The product was Mormonism. To quote Michael Jackson "They Don't Really Care About Us".

Now take this all with a grain of salt; I'm just a random guy here with ADHD that's obsessed with MMA & Martial Arts (so CTE might play a part here). But even a dummy like me can see the lies of the church. I've tried, I really really did. Hours upon hours of researching all the church history (church approved and real history) and the white washing of Indigenous America; it's disgusting. How can these so men that are "called of God" blatantly lie to Latin Americans about their history, their origin, their true blood. Latin American history is already complicated as it is but when no self-respecting archologist recognizes The Book of Mormon as evidence, what is the purpose of the book then??! Poorly written Bible fan-fiction?? CS Lewis made the Chronicles of Narnia and that Bible fan-fiction is actually good. I can't remember WHERE I read it but I remember something along the lies of "bold claims require bold evidence". In MMA, a dude can talk shit all he wants about how badass he is, until a better fighter comes along and punches him in the mouth. So if that concept applies to marital arts in it's SIMPLEST form, how is it any different in religion exactly??

From this journey this is what I personally discovered; believe in whatever YOU want to believe in (especially in yourself). Because at the end of the day we'll be 6 feet underground with maggots and worms feasting on our flesh. So rather than focusing on how scary death is (plan of salvation always gave me HUGE anxiety), let's enjoy this life and the time we have. If I can end it with one last thing; take from Grand Master Oogway "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift. That is why it's called the present".

But anyways, this was a lot longer than I expected. I truly do hope y'all have a good day today.
