One of my close friends has been spreading false rumours about my brother, claiming that they dated and that he ended things because he wanted to date multiple women and was a "player." None of this is true. They never dated. She was the one who had strong feelings for him, but because she is three years younger than him and is also my friend, my brother respectfully made it clear multiple times that he was not interested in pursuing a relationship. Despite this, she continued trying to push him into a talking stage and a relationship, but he consistently and kindly said no.

I only found out these rumours were being spread when one of our church leaders confronted my brother and asked whether they were true. It has left me feeling hurt, confused, and unsure of what to do. What makes this even more difficult is that she was someone I considered a close friend, and I have never confronted her about it. Since this happened within our church community rather than at school, it feels much more personal and complicated, and I'm struggling to process the betrayal while trying to handle the situation in a respectful way.
