Why do my spot colors refuse to match my hex codes?

I am working with a vendor company to print some banners and they are telling me my colors are not matching their PMS. Our color is PMS 342, and the hex code should be #006747. I have the color set to spot color in my library but everytime I go to edit in in indesign it changes the hex code to #006847 for some reason and refuses to change. What am I doing wrong?

How do i make this not suck?

Some of you may remember this from a couple of weeks ago. Basically the brief was we need a campaign logo, something inspired by the architecture of one of our buildings. The top logo was rejected in favor for of a different building that kinda has one of those old style bank architecture with the columns and the pointed roof. The problem is that they didnt like that version and they want me to try to either combine the two or stylize the bottom in the same way that I did the top. I feel like its an impossible task and I am seriously stuck.

(I apologize for the crappy photos, but I realize you guys need to see the buildings for context)

How do you guys stay current with trends and the design world?

Where do you go when looking for the latest trends and other graphic design news? I feel like I only ever find branding passion projects and design influencers who don't understand kerning on Instagram and Pinterest. Where do the design professions go?
