PAYPAL STONEWALLING OVER OBVIOUS SCAM - NEVER USING AGAIN
Worst customer service experience ever. DO NOT USE PAYPAL CLICKTHROUGH WHEN PURCHASING ONLINE. Bought something for $45 on what turned out to be a fake website cloning the St. Vincent de Paul charity logo. Made the fatal mistake of using the Paypal clickthrough (which is how Paypal actually makes their money); payment "confirmation" showed up right away as 10,000 yen ($700+).
I immediately contacted the Paypal "customer service" bot and was told the payment would be stopped. A few minutes later the payment went through. Over the next days and weeks I filed a half-dozen Paypal dispute cases. They were all immediately denied.
Each time I spoke to an agent they agreed that it was an obvious scam that they would escalate to a "supervisor" or the "back room" (probably AI). I submitted more and more photos of every interaction including every email exchange, including that my order shipped before I ordered it and was delivered somewhere in Michigan (I live in Illinois). Of course no item ever arrived.
Sent images of online comments from people who said this site cloned their listings from places like Mercari with their exact copy and images. Deny, deny, deny. Warnings about my complaint time window closing. I sent proof that my credit card gave me a chargeback for the overage beyond the portion of the charge that wiped out my Paypal balance. Because it was obviously a scam. Deny, deny, deny. The last case I filed they never even notified me of denial. To make me go away. On my last call to Paypal I demanded to speak to someone higher-up who could address my issue. I was told no one was available and that I would get a callback later that day. Which of course never happened. To make me go away. THIS IS THEIR BUSINESS MODEL. AFTER THEY HAD RECENTLY HIRED A NEW CEO TO STOP THEM FROM BLEEDING $$.
