1979 K10, 400 sbc, Intermittent no crank.

It has only happened twice but I hate the idea of being stranded. It normally cranks like a mad man. I first thought it's the solenoid/relay switch but I don't think I could hear any click so I am now wondering if it might be the ignition switch. This last time it failed I started it and it cranked well and ran fine for around 20 minutes. I shut it off for about an hour and then when I tried to restart it nothing! The on position of the switch seemed fine, the dash woke up and the fan came on. I moved it to the start position, the fan stopped and no crank, release the key and the fan came back on. This repeated for about ten attempts. The battery voltage was well over 12 but I don't remember the exact value. I got a helper to turn the key while I read a voltmeter and it cranked quickly and started perfectly first try. Battery is relatively young and good with clean connections.

What do you think should be my first steps?

Edit, I should have added that my helper could see no dimming of the headlights when I turned the key to the start position.

Is the OEM KIA Granny charger a good unit?

I'm looking for a good used Level 1 portable charger.

I've got a nice Dewalt unit that is capable of using everywhere from a standard Nema 5-15 to 32 amps at 240 volts but the cord is really stiff, heavy and it's hard to pack into the frunk. I want to find a lighter and simpler unit to leave in the frunk for when we are not at home. I have heard recommendations for using a oem charger from a Chevy Bolt but I found a KIA oem unit not to far from me.

Any thoughts?
Thanks for reading.

Edit........

I've taken the advice of some of the people that responded and I've ordered the Lectron 12 amp charger.

Thank you all for your help.

My Dad's 79 K10 has been mine for 25 years. It needs some TLC

It has been awesome to own and helped me move when I retired. Now it is time to give it some love. I need things that I assume are not autopart store items. It needs window guides desperately and other things cab related like door rubber mouldings. An odd one is the mechanical (?) cruise control got so noisy I disconnected it. Is there a rebuild option for this beast? Edit, Do you square body fans have favorite places to find these items? Thanks.
