Artifacts on bulb cam

Artifacts on bulb cam

Here's my driveway cam at night. Following a lot of rain i noticed the artifact. It didn't happen in the past and it's got a couple days to dry out. Any suggestions? The notifications also get tripped by this artifact.

The artifact is not visible when I turn on the bulb or during the day.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Wyze Outdoor power supply review

One use case in my house calls for wired cams in the front yard. Initially tried battery cams no luck. The wired cams work great so i ordered the Wyze outdoor power supply to power them. 20 ft long. Looks sturdy and went thru a couple of Midwestern monsoons already.

Two suggestions:

First, given the intended use case (outdoors) bright white is not the right color. Green or earth tones would help make it less visible.

Second, the product is a flat plug (nice), about 12 ft white power cord, the small power brick, and an 8 ft USB-C cable. I feel it would work better for the end user if the power brick is near the plug and the bulk of the 20 ft is the USB cable.

The adapter works great so far, awaiting a green spray can.

ELI5 - Bluetooth Low Energy for Wyze accessory bulbs?

I hooked up a bulb cam over the garage door and it works great. I saw you can add more accessory bulbs and bought a few only to find out that none of them can connect except one. Apparently it uses BLE to talk to the bulbs and that cuts the range bigly. So now I have to add another bulb cam to get the remaining bulbs to talk to it.

I wrote my first Bluetooth enabled application 27 years ago and to be blunt Bluetooth wasn't the best back then and it still isn't. It has its uses but when you're power limited usually. Here both the bulb and the cam are plugged in. Second, why low energy? Regular Bluetooth goes thru three floors in my house without issues (attic to basement). BLE, not.

Wyze gives 50 ft max then that becomes 20 ft and don't put the bulbs in metal receptacle covers because it cuts down on range. Outdoor can light receptacles are generally metal. The only use case i can think of is put the cam in a two bulb floodlight base and the bulb in the other, 6 inches away.

I would truly appreciate a response from Wyze on this.

Outdoor wired door bell cover?

Greetings Wyze users,

I'm about to deploy a pair of wired doorbells. The one in the front is in great shape, the front door does not get wet due to massive overhangs. The one in the garage service door, not so good. North facing, zero overhangs, Midwestern weather.

Any suggestions for a flip cover or other cover for it? I looked at depth on Amazon and the flip ups generally are too wide / large.

Thank you

how weatherproof are they?

Just had .20 inch of light rain for 30 min and both my battery cam pro's outdoor cameras are showing humidity in the lens. Hopefully it's on the outside. But to be honest they don't inspire the confidence of a legit outdoor rated product.

Should I look for some kind of weather resistant cover or enclosure that protects the front / lens area especially?

Battery Cam Pro issues

Greetings all.

I have a fairly reliable house setup with window cams, a couple lightbulb cams, and a couple wired doorbell cams. Things work well.

I had a need to monitor the backyard and front yard a bit too closely and picked up a pair of Battery Cam Pro's at home depot for $39 for two (75% off). It's a short term solution. The cams work well despite the connection ouchies never mind a 7 node mesh wifi system.

My question is tho, color night vision isn't very good, nearly non-existent. Tried regular night mode on, off, illuminators on off etc. No luck. The window cam covering the same areas has excellent color night vision.

My question is, should the battery cam be working better at night or that's all you can get from it? I'm not complaining for $19.50 each, they'll get deployed as squirrel house or bird house cams but still...
