Is GST registration/GSTIN mandatory for selling digital products on Etsy from India?

Do I need to have a GSTIN **from the very first day I open my Etsy shop**, even before making any sales, or is GST registration required only after my sales/turnover reaches the applicable threshold?

I’m specifically asking about **digital products/downloads**, not physical products.
