Just realized it while watching random videos. What a career! So glad he won it all before he retired.

Last year we did a similar trip for Utah’s mighty 5. We flew to LV and drove to Moab on the same day. Then we started making our way back to LV while visiting all five parks plus state parks and NMs. We want to do something similar this time too for about 12 days.

Currently I am thinking of flying into ABQ and driving to Durango or Cortez on the same day. Start our trip with Mesa Verde. Then make stops at Monument Valley, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Saguaro, White Sands, and if possible Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe before flying out from ABQ.

I am still doing research on weather, season closures, and optimal routes to reduce driving time. Ideally planning to fly there weekend before thanksgiving and fly home Monday or Tuesday after thanksgiving.

I know these might be lot of stops and not enough time. But again, nothing is set in stone. We are open to subtracting and adding something else to it. Any thoughts?

Our top performers are many fortunately. Unfortunately our record does not truly reflect that or the bad parts are weighing this team significantly enough that we are better off retooling by adding more to the prospect pool.

So you are in charge. Who do you trade or who do you keep?

Wood? Abrams? Griffin?

Is it just free for all or do we keep someone like Wood around? Crews who hasn’t fulfilled his promise just yet? Is this Abrams’ peak and best to trade for more talent or keep him by extending?

I know 2018 doesn’t bring back great memories but winning HRD as a National is solid part of his legacy besides winning mvp in 2015. I thought we would hold onto him and he would go into hall as National one day. Everything worked out I guess since we won it all and he got his big contract and some contention with Phillies.

As far as personal player achievements go, this is one of top ones in our short history. Strasburg’s finals mvp, Soriano’s 2006 season, Harper’s 2015 season are some of the top ones. I feel like this one also belongs up there.

I am thinking of asking my kid have spend x amount of time daily on Duolingo for a language of his choice. In the past, he took little bit interest in learning Spanish on it but then kind of moved away from it. It was during school year so I didn’t push it. Now that the summer break is here, I would like him to start that again so he has something productive to do on a screen instead of just playing games and watching.

Have you tried it with your kids? Is it actually useful? Something that can legitimately teach few lessons? I don’t expect he would be fluent in Spanish by end of summer. But I don’t want to instill any wrong habits about learning a language at least.

I will be honest. Before season started, I wasn’t sure that we have much of a team. On paper, it seemed we had a worse roster than previous opening day that went on to lost nearly 100 games. I expected couple of folks to perform decent to good but overall, I expected a painful season.

Imagine the surprise that the team is somehow above .500. They have given up the most runs but scored the most too and playing competitive games against division leaders and even winning series here and there. Pitching has also improved some over last 30 days. It is still giving ton of runs but it isn’t the worst in the league and starters are going deeper in the game which means that not every game is a bullpen game. I like how they have utilized Parker so far too. Wood and Abrams are leading the offense. And others are contributing enough to keep Nats in the lead for runs scored.

Having said all that, my expectations for this season are still close to 2005 than anything else. There are more WC spots now as compared to 2005 so likelihood of making it to playoffs maybe a smidge higher. However, I don’t know if this team can survive the long season and still be a contender at the end of it. What are your expectations? Do you think the team can pull off a miracle and make it to postseason or at least keep contending until Sept? Or do you think mgmt might still make some trades as they were expected to, i.e. keep the course to replenish the farm some more? Which in turn will cause the team to end below .500?

My kid (10m) has been playing soccer in a recreational league for a couple of years now. He is excited to go for practice and games every week. I like that. He enjoys playing and has fun with his teammates. However, when he is playing, he seemed scared of playing. He is just around the ball. He will never go for it. If anyone passes to him, he quickly tries to get rid of it. He will not try to dribble it up ahead or anything.

I feel like he is afraid of making mistake. In the past, he has accidentally scored on his own team. But he has been playing like this before that. I just want him to be a bit confident about being able to handle the ball. How do I encourage him not to be afraid of jumping in and going for the ball? He isn’t like that when he is doing other things. Just soccer. I am not sure what to do.

Might be driving between Cosmic Campground and DFW in August. It is a long drive that I intend to do in two days. I am open to making it longer if there is more stuff to see. The nearby 3 NPs aren’t options. I am planning to visit those on the way to Cosmic Campground from DFW. It is the going back part I need help with. I see Roswell and the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge as potential stops. Is there anything else worth considering?

At the same time, I am exploring one way rental too. Meanwhile, open to suggestions.
