Stardust help and First Strike

Learning asol, and curious about some things:

How best to get stardust in the early game? Is it better to spend my abilities on poking my laner for champ damage and last-hit autoing minions (with occasional E) or should I be focusing less on my laner because of mana costs, and only using spells to CS/get executes on minions? Especially if it's a mana-less item route

Why not first strike as an option, with sorc secondary for the manaflow? (or maybe I am thinking of him too similar to Syndra)

  • FS alone as a keystone gives some gold with its proc and bonus damage, which would work well off poking in lane (unless vs a control mage maybe)
  • FS gives cash back, which would be less value if going rylais first since it's a cheaper item but mostly only affects that as first item. Everything else will be 3k
  • Could do triple tonic for extra skill point at 9 and bonus adaptive force earlier on
  • and approach velocity or JoaT for his AP bruiser style (AP, AH, health, boots = 1 break point, then add flat pen/%pen, some MR or something, and so on)

In the times where resistances are needed, could he forgo an AP item all together and get something like abyssal mask + Bloodletters curse for the bruiser aspect and MR?

GHFOD Vol.4 and Box Arrived

Got my book+box from Yiggybean!! The box pieces came in a bubble wrapped envelope. There are still some minor scuffs through out the pieces, I think due to rubbing against each other inside the packaging since it wasn't very snug and they had a lot of room. Not sure if that is a Yiggybean packaging choice or how they received it from Haitang, but I feel like the pieces should have been plastic wrapped so maybe Haitang didn't do that before sending to Yiggybean.

The pieces snap together, then the white peels off the corner guards and I put those on the bottom which has adhesive to hold the pieces together, as well as preventing scratches where ever I put it.

non-burstable champs (also, using W)

Hi all,

I'm learning aurora and wondering what to do into a team where you can't one-shot 2-3+ of the team. Since her burst build is pretty low AH, one combo and done, does she stack more ability haste in that instance? ionian boots, crypt, etc? AP bruiser items (but that still seems like low AH)

Then more match up specific: how best to use W vs a yone? If I use it to dodge a Q3, he runs at me with E. If I use it to bait out his E, I don't have it to dodge his Q3 (then, also his ult). Or how does the aurora v Yone match up usually go?

Does aurora ever consider antiheal? (maybe in a comp where she can't one shot and builds utility instead?)

Are Faelights Bait?

Faelights encourage warding and everything which is great, and it helps newer players figure out some good, basic warding locations. But then, it gives bonus vision score for using those locations.

Vision Score rules:

  • Faelight superwards grant 25% bonus Vision Score.

So that's to say, if we try some more advanced warding, our vision score is inherently lower even if they are "better" positioned wards. And of course, everyone will scan a location with red trinket over a faelight, so it also is a beacon of "there's probably a ward here to remove" instead of having them in more sneaky/unsuspecting spots that give the same information.

Or like seeing This Coaching Clip (tiktok), the benefit of those ward locations is explained, but because they're not on faelights, they don't grant the bonus vision score (or the increased temporary range). And if a control ward is placed in a nearby faelight, it will reveal the ward anyways (outside of his "predicted sweeping paths")

So it feel like faelights provide great incentive for people who are learning or might not regularly ward, it also punishes people who try to do other warding that are not on faelights, even if thats the real information that we need (such as deeper jungle wards/jungle camp wards).

Struggling and Looking for help

I'm new to Zyra and trying to pick her up as a midlane pick. I've been trying her out ever since I got my ass completely melted by another Zyra midlane, and no matter how much I try, I'm just not getting that same result. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong on build, runes, spell rotation, or what.

The game vs her was a while ago but iirc: Tear into Liandrys, Seraphs, Shadowflame/Void/Rabadon's was her build.

I've tried that build and that's been the lowest amount of damage I've done as Zyra.

I really struggle to get items, where my CS I know isn't the greatest (5-6 cs/m) but I also am never able to secure a kill. It feels like playing vs a Zyra, her ult near one shots me, but my ult does nothing and the enemy lives with a fraction of health left.

With that in mind, I've never made it to a full build on Zyra (seen in my most recent 40min game and still only having like 3 full items). I've tried some: 1: BFT Liandrys combos, 2: Tear + Liandrys into Seraphs, and usually try to do shadowflame since my damage feels so non existent.

I know Rylais only applies slow on Q lashers since E lashers already slow, and slows don't stack, so it's not an ideal item. But in the game included, they had two unstoppable ults (WW + Malphite) and a Fiora who would either dash, spell shield, or flash my root where I could never ensure CC before they were on top of me. Like my overall damage wasn't bad, I still did 30k, but I never had kills to show for it (or even many assists for that matter).

It was like no matter how much effort I invested into poking down vex in lane, I could never actually kill her. I could show up to a fight, be throwing out as many lashers as I could on rotation, using ult, and still never kill anyone or do enough damage to help my team get a kill.

So I am looking for any advice on builds or runes (here I am comet, manaflow band, transcendence, scorch with domination taste of blood and relentless hunter, taken from the client suggested runes)

I got tear on first back but sold it (bad I know) but build order was BFT, sorcs, Oblivion orb, Shadowflame, into rylais. Was going to go Rabadon next.

I'm also looking for tips at CSing, it feels like even if my plants do all/most of the damage to a minion, their damage isn't enough to last hit consistently so I miss a lot of gold. I've been trying to get better about Q-ing the back row of casters when they're low for the gold, but I don't use E on the wave a lot since its also my cc.

I max Q, W, then E in lane. I am not sure if the best damage/poke is to use Q on plants, or use E on plants since the E empowers them (more). Or, if I Q first does E still empower them after?

LoL in I Can Do It and other e-sports

so Jiang Zi Bei uses League of Legends for ICDI. Maybe I saw it on another discussion here, but how exactly did she get away with including an actual/official game? Would Riot's legal team not see an issue with using their content in a book? I feel like most other authors use "rip offs" of games, describing similar mobas but naming them something different to make it "totally not that game". In Glory, the game is called "Glory" but it is basically LoL as well.

It's not like JZB contacted Riot like, "can I use your game in my webnovel" (or did she? lol) Or is it because Riot is owned by Tencent which is a Chinese company? So even though most of Riot is US based (development teams, etc) maybe Chinese laws apply for intellectual property? Or that JZB writing ICDI was never caught, and/or they've just never taken action about it?

And if there's nothing stopping authors from using real games, why don't they do that more often? Mobile gaming is bigger in China, so maybe I am just less familiar with mobile games and if they are real/fake when used in esports novels.
