Google a Monopoly?

Does Google have an unfair advantage? Probably yes

Currently there's no strong competitor of Google in the market. There exist two situations first being a competitive market and second being Monopoly. Many of the times a healthy competition is considered better cause Monopoly might end up displaying the brand an evil. While for Googlr the picture changes a bit

Google always makes sure that it never appears evil in any way, but what is evil? Evil is when some brands takes an unfaire advantage of having the maximum users. It could be over charging the consumer or not letting the competitor brands get a single breath

As it is always said one single feature added by a big company can kill hundred startups, While Google doesn't let itself appear a Monopoly and doesn't look evil but is that 100% true? Is Google a Monopoly?

I am working on a Startup and there's no day Calm

I am working on a startup and the experience is life changing, I started with attending Entrepreneurship events in college. Then i started working with some startups by my seniors

During this i participated in multiple Quizes, Competitions, Events, Challenges and many. One year back i was still wondering what is the right career path for me but now it has made me clear. Now i have got the idea what fits me the best. I realized that i can work on product management, i like research, understand the consumer and designing the product, without saying yes to all the things it would have become difficult to identify it

Now applying my knowledge into my startup, i think, research, design and compare everyday. Everyday something new happens in the market, Sometimes i fear what if my idea gets launched by someone else before i even build it? What if the trends change in the future?

There are a lot of "What if?"s. But i think being ready for all this and tackling all these problems and coming back stronger is what is Entrepreneurship and Business, Keeping this in my mind, i work hard and hope for the best

What difficulties are you facing? Let's make the comment section look like a corner for founders to yap about their problems

Target your 10 years of growth in next six months - Elon Musk

So here we have a big advice from absolutely the first trillionaire of 21st century. Yes bro literally has ADHD but the advice is not ignorable

Targeting 10 years of growth in 6 months, You may not achieve the growth of 10 years but will definitely achieve more than the growth of 6 months so yes the advice makes sense

What are your views on it?

I personally liked it

Bootstrap vs Funding?

Bootstrap vs Funding.

One founder builds slowly using their own money.

Another raises millions from investors and grows 10x faster.

One keeps 100% control but grows slowly.

The other gives up equity but can dominate the market before competitors even catch up.

If you had the choice today, which path would you take?

And more importantly, which one actually has a higher chance of building a successful company?

Are Indian parents the biggest barrier to entrepreneurship?

Whenever student entrepreneurship is discussed, one reason comes up again and again

"My parents won't support it."

Many parents encourage Good grades, A stable job, Campus placements, Higher studies

And honestly, it's understandable. Most just want financial security for their children

But at the same time, entrepreneurship often requires Taking risks, Uncertainty, Failure, Years without guaranteed results

So here's the question:

Are Indian parents the biggest barrier to entrepreneurship?

Or are students using their parents as an excuse for not taking action?

What do you think is the bigger obstacle:

Parents

Lack of money

Lack of skills

Fear of failure

Something else?

Curious to hear different perspectives.

Is a ₹30 LPA job actually less risky than a startup?

Is a ₹30 LPA job actually less risky than a startup?

Most people would say yes

A ₹30 LPA job gives you a stable income, well-defined career path, less uncertainty

whereas,

A startup gives you no guarantees, high chance of failure, years of uncertainty

But is the job really less risky?

You're still depending on someone else for your income.
You can be laid off
Your role can become obsolete
The company can struggle

With a startup, the short term risk is obvious

With a job, the risk might just be delayed

So what do you think?

Which is actually riskier?

A ₹30 LPA job or Building a startup

Is Networking more important than Skills?

We often hear people say:

"Your network is your net worth."

I've seen people get opportunities simply because they knew the right person, while others spent years developing skills and still struggled to get noticed.

At the same time, networking can only take you so far if you don't have the skills to deliver.

So what's actually more important?

Networking- Opens doors, Creates opportunities, Helps you learn from others

Skills- Creates value, Builds credibility, Keeps opportunities alive

If you had to choose only one to focus on for the next 5 years, which would it be and why?

Interested to hear different perspectives

My Senior asked me a question, i couldn't stop thinking

We were asked to give a pitch on a startup idea of our own

Just like many people i also went to pitch on a startup idea we thought of two days before just for the event

He asked us to give the pitch, we spoke for 3 minutes, the pitch completed and he didn't say anything about our idea

Instead he asked us a question, In a few days you guys will be receiving fees refund of 15k, will you invest that money into your startup? Or you think that's very low to invest?

We kept thinking and gave different answers, he seemed unimpressed with all our answers

We came back and thought about it again, what can we do with 15k? Even hiring interns will require more than that, building our first working model will require more money, marketing won't be worth it right now then what can we do with this 15k?

What do you think, should you invest the money you have right now or wait to get fundings?

I think this is why Student based Startups struggle

Many students these days want to pursue Entrepreneurship but that's not the catch

These days students run behind early success

Thinking about an idea, assuming their own assumptions, seeing the world only with their eyes, planning something that may not fit everyone, imagining huge success at the age of 17

This is the reallity of many students who answer Entrepreneurship when someone asks them about their career plan

Many students have ideas in their mind but don't know whether they will work or how to turn them into reallity.

What i think is the first step is

Take a survey Broooo

Understand from people that the problem you are trying to solve is actually a problem or not. Don't waste your time dreaming of crores while your ideas is not even validated. What will you tell the investor when he/she asks you if the problem is real.

While you see the world grom your eyes in a way, the others see it in a different way. Taking opinions of different people is important. Imagine taking opinions of five front benchers and adding 5 extraclasses a week, the rest of the class will hate you for life. Take opinions of different minded people. Find your target audience and then design the product

What do you think is the most important first step in Student Entrepreneurship?

JEE vs Startup? A Query I received

Should a 15-year-old developer with ₹10L profit drop a 12-hour JEE grind to scale a startup and target newer IITs, NITs or BITS for networking?

Here's what i said

It is great that you are having skills that are paying you and you are planning for a startup. I really appreciate that for an 15yo. So now the real question is should you continue preparing for JEE or Leave preparation for Startup

So bro know one thing that even if you are very talented and earning well having a degree from a good college still doesn't lose the worth. Now you may ask Why? Because if things got tougher and nothing works out you can rely on your degree to get a job and get paid. In that case after a few years you can again start working on your startup when you get the stability

Believe me IIT/NIT gives you freedom

Being in an IIT/NIT also makes it easier for you to network with many talented people and the alumni also help you with the startup

I think having a degree from a good college is like cherry on the cake for you

What do you think JEE vs Startup?

Yes my CG is low, Now what to do MF

https://preview.redd.it/9zl6jdfikv7h1.png?width=521&format=png&auto=webp&s=8ff2b943fae3208f94f36eb6ebe13ff6a2bc5bcf

I love this meme of Kapil Sharma.
I am sharing a story of our senior from final year during placement season. A 8.5 CGPA Candidate rejected over 7.5 CGPA one. But Why?

So not revealing the college and not revealing the branch, just know that it is one of top colleges in India.
So why was he rejected? What was reason behind his rejection?

You won’t believe me what they said, they said

He is OVERQUALIFIED

And he couldn’t get placed, Surprising right, but it is true. Of-course it doesn’t happen with everyone but this is also an example that lower CG doesn’t mean no future

So what happened with him next? I don’t know maybe he is applying off campus now or pursuing something else but hope that he gets his desired designation

Steve Jobs didn't like the idea of Spotify

One of the most interesting startup stories is that Spotify succeeded despite many people in the music industry believing its model was wrong.

Even Steve Jobs was reportedly skeptical of subscription-based music. Apple's model was built around buying songs through iTunes, while Spotify was pushing the idea that people would rather pay a monthly fee for access to everything.

At the time, that sounded crazy.

Why would someone stop owning music and start renting it?

But Spotify's founders saw something others didn't.

People didn't actually care about owning millions of songs.

They cared about listening to the songs they wanted, instantly, on any device.

Meanwhile Spotify wasn't just competing with Apple.

It was competing with free piracy, which sounds like an impossible business challenge.

Think about it:

  • Free music downloads
  • Apple's iTunes dominance
  • Record labels that weren't fully convinced
  • Massive licensing costs

Most founders would've looked at that market and walked away.

Yet Spotify became one of the biggest music platforms in the world.

The lesson isn't that experts are always wrong.

It's that sometimes a startup wins by betting on a change in consumer behavior before everyone else sees it.

Spotify wasn't selling music.

It was selling convenience.

What's another startup that succeeded by challenging something that industry leaders believed would never work?

Hyundai may have created a problem for itself

Am I the only one who feels Hyundai has made Genesis a much harder sell?

A few years ago the difference was obvious. Hyundai was the value brand and Genesis was the luxury brand.

But now Hyundai interiors look premium, the tech is great, the designs are turning heads, and some of their cars genuinely feel expensive.

At that point, if I'm spending my own money, why wouldn't I just get a fully loaded Hyundai instead of stretching for a Genesis?

The weird thing is that Hyundai becoming better is actually a problem for Genesis. If Hyundai keeps adding more luxury features, Genesis has less room to justify the higher price. But if Hyundai stops improving, then it loses the value proposition that made people buy it in the first place.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it feels like Hyundai and Genesis are much closer together than brands like Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura.

What would you choose for the same money: a top-spec Hyundai or an entry-level Genesis?

Someone asked me "Is it easy to find co-founder"?

So i got this question "Does being in an NIT make it easier to find a co-founder?"

In One word i will say NO

Finding a Co-Founder or building your team scratch won’t become easier just because you are in NIT. I will tell you from my Senior’s experience with his startup. So i have worked with multiple startups with my seniors and one problem i saw them facing is building a team.

He started his startup in first year only, for the first six months he couldn’t find a Co-Founder. He stopped looking for his batchmates and started looking into other branch’s students and still couldn’t find one. Then he looked for a Co-Founder in his seniors and then barely he could fid one senior agreeing with him. Then later on his another friend joined as a Co-founder.

After One year he started searching for interns. He ran google forms in multiple groups and guess what no response from his batch. He then circulated the google form in Junior’s group where around 30 people filled the form and he barely could find two of them matching his requirements. Its 1.5 year now, His old co-founder left him

Now the question is

Why?

Building a team from scratch is not easy. Specially in the initial stages of startup when you can’t pay anyone it becomes very difficult to find the right interns. A Co-founder needs as much commitment as the founder, as the co-founder is the first person you discuss anything with. Your co-founder must be someone reliable as his/her role is very important. In the initial stages people come and people go, some join just for experience or some just for spending their free time but hardly anyone stays for long

Finding a Co-founder is not easy, When you look for a co-founder make sure they as much commited as you

Entrepreneurship as a Student

Entrepreneurship started in college? Sounds cool right
So I am in a prestigious engineering college in India and what I have observed in my seniors is that they are running fast. While working on their startup they are also consistently participating in many clubs. Some technical clubs, some cultural clubs, some are a part of Department council, Student council and a lot many things. The craziest thing about them is that even while participating in multiple things they are not average in any of them

While thinking of student entrepreneurship many people imagine a 20hr schedule, working all day in front of your laptop, meeting with associates and managing events. But is it truly all about this only.

What I can see is that in the early stage of building the startup our seniors barely did any field work or sat in front of the pc for 20hrs. What they did in the initial stage is Validating their idea with seniors, other students, surveys, and talking to alumni. The first thing i can see to do for a startup is research and survey

You can do a lot of research, you have multiple sources to do that. What I think is the difficult thing is the survey because not everyone thinks the same and absolutely not everyone thinks like a founder. So what modes do we have to do a survey? That’s the question that comes to the mind of the founder. Well what i could see our seniors did is taking surveys from campus students and from Linkedin. What could be different modes we have, We can have a good discussion on it

I read this book, and believe me it is worth it

What Valuable Company Is Nobody Building?

This is the question you must ask yourself before building a startup. Zero to One is an amazing book that i am reading now and it has one line repeating many times.

The next Mark Zuckerberg won't build another Facebook

The next Bill Gates won't build another Microsoft

Your startup must solve a unique problem with a unique solution. The question is why should i move to another social media app when i have Instagram. Why should i go to another site when i have Amazon. Why should i look for another app when i have Spotify to listen to music

Your Startup must answer this "Why". And if it can then great, you have crossed the first stage of building your startup
