Just a little note about a solar panel
I got a cheap panel from TEMU and it only makes 3w. So my RAK repeater is loosing a little ground each day. It seems 5w is the minimum. Hope this benefits someone.

One of the cool things we could do i nAPRS was create an object on the map. Is it possible to create an object? Maybe give it a time to live. Example: In in SAR and I want to place a marker on the trail head for the EMTs to come to my location. I would like to create an object and give it a life span of 24hours.
I want to be careful here... I'm trying to be mindful of cloging up the network. APRS ended up full of people beaconing every 60 seconds in their driveway. I love that MC favors less static network traffic and more room for messaging, but I think ojbects fall into the useful information category.... just do not allow them to exist >7 days for example... and maybe use a tapering advertisement for them. 3x the first hour, down to every 12 hours as they age out.
A little background... I was an APRS guru back in the late 90's. I got out of it in 2009 or so and now I'm finding meshtastic and meshcore.
This question is about routing... OK we flood 64 hops in all directions. In APRS we used to make an alias for our city or state (example SC7-7). Can we do that in meshtastic? As this grows, I can see the network getting clogged up. So while FLOODing is cool right now, Can we limit to a neighborhood? or airport designator region? This then begs the question can a user select between FLOOD 64 hops best effort or just flood my state?
There are two new repeaters in Charleston SC which are flagged as having incorrect time. Why is time important? Is time used for slot timing upon transmission? How accurate does a clock need to be?
If time is important why don't we have a NTP protocol on air?
If time is important, my RAK repeater has hte GPS module installed, is there a way to have it enable once a week and set the clock? It's solar powered so I hate for GPS to run all the time.
My sister owns a lighting and they came out an installed the home backup "evse" that has the CCS plug. I realize now that the way it works is that 240v is converted to 400v in the wall box and sent to the truck over the DC pins. Ok great. This can be used to back feed the house with a little additional equipment.... like an autotransformer to provide a neutral I speculate. OK.... Anyone chime in and correct me if I'm on the wrong path.
So my question.... someone plowed into her truck this past weekend and it may be totalled. She is considering a Chevy as a replacement. Will this fancy CCS home charger work with teh chevy or is it some proprietary ford version of CCS comms? And can this be used to back feed the house from the chevy truck?
thanks guys... I know you'll all pile on to answer this! 😄
