Like many others I got an interview request for the TDSB OT list today (elementary), yay, but I’m concerned about this line:

“Please note that your references will also be contacted and must respond within 48hours; otherwise, your application will not proceed.”

Uhhhh my god! All my references are TDSB teachers off for the summer and probably on vacation. As are everyone’s references I’d imagine. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I email my references to check in with them, or is that redundant? Do all 3 references have to respond within this timeline or my application to proceed?

Hey has anyone had their wedding on the Toronto Islands? Specifically at St. Andrew by-the-lake church and/or the QCYC?

I have many, many questions… how it went getting guests on and off the island—not to mention your decor and supplies—did you stay somewhere on the islands overnight, were the venue staff smooth with the logistics, were the bathrooms clean…. lol! Also if you got married this year, how is the venue’s new catering service (Luciano Schipano)?

Or even just general tips from someone who has been down this road before. We don’t have a wedding planner and the venue has so far been really hands off (which is totally fine and expected, but leaves us a bit in the dark). Yay islands!

I applied to the TDSB OT/ETH list on June 22nd, with a transitional certificate from the OCT(I’m about to start my second year at OISE/PJ). I realize not much time has passed and I’m gearing up for a long waiting period, as well as the potential of not being able to supply in the Fall as I was initially hoping.

I’m curious if anyone has insight into what aspects of the application most significantly up your chances of being selected for an interview: beefed up prior teaching experience, a really well written cover letter, admin references? There seems to be a discrepancy in the experiences I’ve heard/read about on this page, with some applicants moving through very quickly, in a matter of months or even weeks, and some taking years. Thanks! And no I don’t speak French ❤️
