Russian medical student graduating in 2028 — Should I stick with India or consider UK/Australia?

I’m a medical student in Russia, graduating in 2028, and I recently heard about the NMC’s new requirement for a separate 12-month internship in the country of study, which apparently cannot be part of the 6-year medical course.
The problem is that in Russia, the internship is generally integrated into the 6-year program, and there usually isn’t a separate 1-year internship after graduation.
My potential timeline for India now looks like:
6 years — Medical degree
1 year — Additional internship in Russia (if even possible)
6 months — FMGE prep
6 months — Counselling/waiting
1 year — Internship in India
Almost 9 years before I can finally start working in India. 😭
Because of this, I’m seriously considering UK (PLAB/UKMLA) or Australia (AMC) instead.
For the UK, I keep seeing posts saying the IMG pathway is becoming extremely competitive, with fresh graduates potentially waiting 1–1.5 years just to get shortlisted for jobs. Not sure how accurate that is.
For Australia, I’ve heard that after AMC 1, it may be possible to secure a job, but I’m also hearing that the IMG job market is becoming saturated and getting that first job is increasingly difficult.
I still have time before 2028, so I don’t want to make a panic decision.
If you were in my position, which pathway would you choose — India, UK or Australia?
Any genuine advice would be really appreciated. I’m honestly pretty lost right now. 😭

Is PW FMGE course enough? Honest reviews needed.

Hello everyone,

I'm currently in my 4th year of MBBS and planning to start my FMGE preparation. I'm a complete beginner, so I wanted some honest, unfiltered opinions before investing in a course.

I've noticed that people often recommend or talk about Marrow and PrepLadder, but I rarely see anyone discussing the PW FMGE course. I don't see much promotion or genuine reviews about it, which made me wonder whether it's actually good or if it's just being overlooked because it's much cheaper.

For those who have used PW FMGE:

- Are the faculty and lectures good enough for FMGE preparation?

- Is the content comprehensive and updated?

- Can someone realistically clear FMGE by relying mainly on the PW course, along with a good test series and consistent self-study?

- What are its biggest strengths and weaknesses compared to Marrow or PrepLadder?

I'm looking for genuine user experiences. If you've personally used PW or know someone who has, I'd really appreciate your honest feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Cheapest ways to travel and experience more of Russia as an international student?

Hi everyone!

I'm an international student studying in Russia. So far, I've visited Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and a few smaller cities. I've really enjoyed exploring the country and learning more about Russian culture, and I'd love to travel even more.

The only challenge is that I'm on a very tight student budget. I'm looking for the cheapest ways to travel around Russia and experience local culture without spending much money.

I'm interested in things like:

- Budget transportation (trains, buses, ridesharing, etc.)

- Affordable places to stay

- Hidden gems and smaller towns worth visiting

- Student discounts or travel hacks

- Local cultural experiences that don't cost much

If you've traveled around Russia on a budget, I'd really appreciate any tips, recommendations, or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!

Thinking about visiting Dagestan for the first time!

I’m not Russian, I’m a foreigner, and I’m really curious about the culture there. One of the main reasons I want to visit is because I’ve heard so much about the wrestling and martial arts scene. It seems like a huge part of the culture, and I’d love to check it out.
I’ve also heard a lot of people say Dagestan is dangerous to visit, while others say it’s perfectly fine. So what’s the actual situation? Has anyone here been there recently?
Also, what are some places that are definitely worth seeing? I’m interested in nature, local food, history, or just anything that’s unique to the region.
If you’re local and wouldn’t mind hanging out or showing me around, feel free to reach out.
Would love to hear your experiences and any tips. Thanks!

International Medical Student (Graduating 2028) - Is Germany Still a Safe Bet for Doctors by 2029, or Will It Face the Same Saturation as the UK/Australia?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international medical student graduating in 2028. When I started med school, my plan was to pursue the UK (PLAB) or Australia (AMC), but the current job market seems much more competitive, with many IMGs struggling to secure their first positions.

Because of this, I'm considering Germany and have started thinking seriously about learning German.

My question is: Do you think Germany could face similar doctor/job saturation by 2029, or is it likely to remain a viable option for IMGs?

I know nobody can predict the future, but I'd appreciate honest opinions from people familiar with the German medical system.

Would you still recommend Germany to someone graduating in 2028?

Thanks!
