Upgraded to Gig Internet — Are my UniFi AC Lites now the bottleneck? Leaning toward U6+

Running a UDM Pro with 3x UniFi AC Lite APs. Just upgraded Spectrum to Gig using an ARRIS SB8200 modem.

UDM Pro speed test shows ~932 down / 41 up, but wireless devices (Laptop/iphone) are still only seeing around ~150-250 down (upload improved noticeably).

APs are hardwired with Cat5e and running 5 GHz @ 80 MHz.

I’m leaning toward grabbing the UniFi U6+ APs I found on Amazon (~$125 each) as an upgrade path from the AC Lites, but wanted input before pulling the trigger.

For those that upgraded from AC Lites:

  • noticeable improvement?
  • worth jumping to U6 Pro instead?
  • any issues running on existing Cat5e?

Seems like my WiFi hardware may now be the bottleneck more than the ISP.

Pulled the trigger. Needed one more Oz to round out my stack.

Wasn’t aggressively looking to buy more gold, but I’d been eyeing a few African coins for a while after a close family friend took a memorable Africa trip years ago.

Ended up grabbing one more ounce to round out the stack. The 5% back between CC rewards and Executive rewards definitely helped.

Part of the appeal for me is hopefully passing these down to my boys one day instead of just stacking purely for melt value.

Anyone else balance stacking for value vs buying pieces with personal meaning/story behind them?

How do you simplify cuts & relays at the 14U level?

Been diving deeper into defensive cut/relay responsibilities with our 14U team and realizing there are about 500 different ways people teach it depending on level, philosophy, arm strength, situations, etc.

Trying to get our coaching staff “on the same sheet of music” so the kids aren’t hearing different things from different coaches.

One thing we’ve discussed:
Some of our OFs absolutely have the arm strength to throw through cuts in certain scenarios, but I also understand the value of keeping things standardized and predictable defensively.

Curious how other coaches simplify this at the 13–15U level:
Do you have a core set of “automatic” cutoff rules?
Do you allow OFs freedom to skip cuts situationally?
Any books/resources/YouTube channels/clinics that helped your staff create a unified defensive system?

Feels like if you overcomplicate it, kids freeze up… but if you oversimplify it, you leave plays on the table.

Would love to hear how other staffs handle it.

14U practice balls

Looking for some practice balls for our 14U team. I saw these and they have pretty good reviews. Was hoping for some input from the field on this.

We’ve got a pretty big yard that I mow with a zero turn, but I’m looking for a smaller mower for around the house and tighter spots to cut down on trimming.

Also thinking it could double as something my kids use for small neighborhood mowing jobs.

Not in a huge rush—are there any upcoming sales (Memorial Day, etc.) where it’d make sense to wait and buy?

Parents of teens, I could really use some advice. I’ve always prioritized our family’s spiritual health—I’m at church every Sunday unless work intervenes, and I’ve stayed involved in midweek lessons and activities. Lately, though, my teenage boys are pushing back hard on attending. I don’t lead Bible studies at home, so I’m not sure if that plays a role, but I don’t want to create resentment. I’ve seen family members who were forced and later lost their faith. At the same time, I deeply believe in the importance of church and faith at a young age. How do you approach this balance with your teens?

This is mine. Son and I pulled a few years back. Walker has had a rough few years, but seems to have figured it out.

I grew up watching Pujols. He is growing up watching Walker. Pretty cool!

Hey all — looking for some local insight.

Thinking about making a ~5 hour drive up for an impromptu family trip to catch tomorrow’s game. None of us have seen the Reds or Rockies play before, so we were pretty excited about it.

That said, the weather has me hesitating a bit. Looks like the rain might taper off and even clear out by the evening, but I know that doesn’t always mean the game goes off without issues.

For those in the area — does this feel like a “they’ll get it in, maybe with a delay” kind of night, or is there a legit chance it gets called?

Just trying to decide if it’s worth grabbing tickets and making the drive.

Appreciate any insight
