Hickory Dickory Dock

Is there any episode funnier than this one? The one where Japp reveals himself to be completely domestically incoherent (that WAS an awful lot of mess in his kitchen) and washed his face in a bidet? Not to mention the face-off over faggots with Poirot? On top of all that, it’s a solid episode, very unique and self-assured.

There have always been these timeless blondes, cool and polished and untouchable. The 1930s had a few: Lana Turner, Veronica Lake, Fay Wray. Jean Harlow. Marlene Dietrich. Later came the ultimate blonde, Grace Kelly, whose appeal was more than physical, it was mythical. But the 30s, the age of glamour and interwar optimism, kicked it off. For me, Carolyn throws uncannily back to that era, even down to the thin eyebrows. Although she was THE iconic woman of the 90s she seemed out of time for that decade. Even her clothes with their long, clean lines and slip dresses cut on the bias remind me of that era. Any which way, she is out of time and belongs in that tier of mythical beauties and, even rarer, mythical blondes.
