What do you guys use to track your purchases/DCA?

I’m currently using myounces which I LOVE except I didn’t know it had a limited number I could do. I just hit that limit and it wants me to pay $79 for pro and unlimited for life. That’s a tough ask since I can get another ASE for that but I also use it daily soooo.

Before I bite the bullet, what other options are there? What are you using to track?

First full ounce joins the stack!

It’s a baby stack but I only started this year. Just picked up a 2021 AGE with the new design from a “random year” purchase. Was hoping for the older design but first year of the new design is kinda cool. Now I need to get the 2021 old design!

Which ounce coin would you buy for your first?

Hi all! I’ve started slowly stacking precious metals over the last half a year. I was pulled to kookaburras for some reason and have been slowly trying to collect them all (I have 8 silver ones so far). I saw they had gold ones and have picked up 2 of the 1/10 gold kooks. Also purchased a 1/4 ounce Isle of Man Angel. Anyway, I’ve also been saving a bit and with the drop in gold prices I finally have enough to buy a full ounce gold coin. I’m torn on what to purchase though.

A lot of people like the AGE so that’s pretty high on the list. I also was considering the kangaroo because I can get that close to spot. Kookaburra 1 ouncers are gorgeous but doesn’t seem smart to pay about $1500 over spot for it. I did just find last night the royal dragon Tudor coin which is just about spot price.

Any recommendations? I know gold is gold but I also want to make sure I’m buying someone that I can easily sell if I have to (even though I’m planning on keeping forever).

Question about different gold colors

Hi all, I just started stacking and only have a 1/10 kookaburra and a 1/4 Isle of Man so far. I got the kookaburra first and loved how vibrant it was. I just picked up the Isle of Man and it’s a lot duller in person but has def grown on me. Why is there such a drastic color difference? Is it just because the Isle of Man is almost 40 years old? Or is it a different type of gold? It’s hard to pick up the difference in pictures but way more evident in person.

Mapei Ultracolor plus FA installation help

Hi all,

I’m a DIYer and attempting to grout using Mapei ultracolor plus FA. I’ve heard from you guys (and my research) that it’s challenging for a DIYer. I decided to give it a shot last night to see if I could do it and did a little section under the vanity since it will be hidden. I used a ratio of 4:1 and hand mixed. It seemed super dry until the very last minute of mixing and then it finally mixed but was still extremely difficult to get into the lines. After pushing it into the lines, I wiped twice and buffed with a microfiber. The grout looks good but it seems to be too far down in the grout lines.

Did I do it too dry? Did I wipe too much or too soon? Can I add more grout on top of what I did?

I used cold water, exact measurements, hand mixed with a spatula to limit air intrusion. Anything else you think I might have done wrong or need to adjust before I do the main floor? I’m going to try round two in the closet and under the tub so I have one more chance at practicing before doing the lines that everyone sees.

Threshold question

Hi guys! Back from our family vacation so I gotta get back on the bathroom project. I’m planning on doing a small threshold but the LVP in the bedroom goes right up flush with my hardibacker. Do I need to slice out some of the LVP and add a tiny strip of hardibacker, or do I just put allset on the LVP and call it a day with some caulk? Also, how would you set the threshold (green or red in the pictures)? I’m leaning towards notching the doorjamb like I showed in green so you only see the LVP with the bathroom door closed.

Lastly, I’m using 12x24 tiles. I backbuttered every tile for the floor (except the first one because I spaced out and forgot 🤦‍♂️) but do I need to back butter the 12x24 tiles going on the wall behind the toilet and other dry walls? Thanks!!!

What gold coin to buy?

Hello all, I received a small inheritance from my grandmother passing away and I wanted to buy a gold coin for my collection with no plans on ever selling it. I only received about $2,000 and wanted to find something that would represent her. I’m very new to collecting and only have kookaburras atm (one gold and the rest silver) so I would love any suggestions on what to buy in her memory. I want something that represents her.

She was born in 1930 and is American but her parents came over from Italy in the early 1900s. She was religious and always had angels in the house. Amazing cook.

Any ideas? I tried to find gold coins from 1930 but I guess there aren’t any American ones from that timeframe (at least what I could tell). Thanks!

Good grout for a DIYer?

Hi all, I’m finishing up my floor in the bathroom and looking into grout. My wife likes Mapei Alabaster but I’ve seen a couple threads pop up where apparently Mapei gets washed out? What grout do you guys recommend instead for a DIYer? Also, go easy on my tile job please lol. I did my best but I’m no pro lmao.

Brand new blade but still chip city

What am I doing wrong here? Every cut I make has lots of little chips. Is it just the nature of the beast? I thought it was my blade so I got a brand new blade and it’s still chipping. I’m using tape for my lines which seems to help and I haven’t had to cut anything that will be right in your face but I’d like to prevent this lol. Thanks!

Need advice on bump under kerdi membrane

Hi all, I just noticed a big bump under my membrane on my wall, big enough where it’s going to cause a lot of issues when I’m tiling. Especially because we’re using large format tile and it’s right where the shower glass is going to be. I’m 95% sure it’s from not squishing out the allset all the way in that spot. How do I address this? Do I try and slice the membrane and peel it off and then reseal after I make it flat?

Thank you!
