Idk if I can do PAP

Every time I try to put my mask on I’ll wake up with it completely off of me (2-3 hours after sleeping) Like on the floor or something as if I threw it away.

I’ll put it back on, just to find it back off again.

I also mentioned how my nose might be the driving factor behind my UARS (breathing strips significantly helped my sleep) although I’ve seen two ENTs and have had no luck. (First one said I had enlarged turbinates and a slightly deviated septum and could consider surgery if sprays didn’t work, second one said I didn’t have either and didn’t recommend surgery) They were both honestly kind of dismissive so I don’t really know how I feel about trusting them.

This makes me think that perhaps I keep finding myself taking the mask off because it lowkey bothers my nose since it feels like it dries it up and perhaps causes some sort of irritation with my nose.
Sometimes I find myself breathing okay but I’ve noticed my nose breathing feeling more slow and sometimes like 80% blocked.

Anyone else have a similar experience? I saw someone reply to my post regarding this topic but it’s not letting me see it all I see is the notification.

Just got my first set of data from OSCAR

I’m not really sure what I’m looking at in the graphs but here were my results.
For reference I’m using the f30i and my main concern is that I keep waking up throughout the night with the mask displaced and at one point it was off me completely. I also don’t really know what I’m doing in terms of pressure and I did change it a couple times to hopefully fix it (?)

My air feels cold and dry

Idk if I’m going crazy but my air feels cold and dry even tho I set the temp and humidity to the highest.

I’m using the resmed airsense 10 autoset and even warmed it up but it feels the same / cool?? (I am using the climate tube and idk if it’s in my head but the tube doesn’t feel warm either)

Only thing that feels warm is the plate for the water

Like it feels cool and I feel like it should be noticeably warm at this point but it doesn’t ??
It feels like it’s drying up my nose and it’s uncomfortable

Just got my PAP machine

Ok so I just picked up my Resmed airsense 10 autoset from my medical equipment provider.

She let me try on different masks but my provider had listed in the notes that I needed a full face mask.

Originally I thought I might need a nasal one but that wasn’t an option since my prescription states I need a full face mask. It lowkey did feel a little uncomfortable around the mouth area especially but I’m sure I just have to get used to it. I got the F30i but I can switch it within 30 days if I want a different one (recs?)

Anyways I trialed it with her just to get a feel and it honestly felt a little suffocating especially when exhaling but I know it was my first time so I likely just have to get used to it. (Used without water if that makes a difference)

Any tips on how to make it as most comfortable? Any settings I should adjust?
This is covered by my insurance so I’m scared to change too much in case they don’t want me to? Idk

UARS update (misdiagnosis?)

I recently shared how my sleep study showed no signs of apnea and no signs of UARS (0.0 AHI, 0 RERAs, basically 0 for everything relevant)

And overall how nothing was recommended from my sleep study in terms of PAP.

Anyways, I went to a sleep specialist to review the results and I basically got told the same thing that PAP wasn’t recommended for my case. I mentioned my symptoms and stuff and then I don’t even know where she was looking at this stuff but she said I had an AHI of 5.1 even tho it literally told me 0.0 on the report (?)

I honestly don’t know why I didn’t ask but eventually she said that I could trial a pap machine because 5.1 constitutes for mild sleep apnea even though they had told me there was nothing at first (?)

Anyways I just wanted to share because I guess it kind of shows you can literally have an in lab sleep study and still not be recommended the proper care 🫩✌️

I suspect my mom has OSA

I’m 99% sure my mom has OSA because I’ve seen her stop breathing for long periods of times. She’s recently been having a lot of unexplained health issues and I was doing research and a lot of what she’s been going through CAN be associated with OSA. (I understand it can be other things but I do know she’s been having OSA related symptoms for as long as I remember and it’ll likely provide relief nonetheless)

She’s uninsured so I was wondering if we could just buy a CPAP/ PAP machine for her off Facebook or smth (not sure which machine; not sure what platform is best)

I’m kind of unfamiliar with the whole process so any help is appreciated!

My ideal goal but I’m not sure if this works is:

Buy a PAP machine off of Facebook and adjust the settings to what we think might work

OR:

Do a sleep study, get the right titration/settings (assuming the doctor gives you the settings?), and then buy secondhand

Need advice

Hey guys I definitely feel like my mom has sleep apnea, she snores A LOT and I’ve personally seen her stop breathing in her sleep. I’m currently having my own issues with sleep disordered breathing and i understand how important / severe OSA can be.

Recently she’s been having severe unexplained cognitive issues and I’m sure that OSA isn’t helping her case

However, my mom is uninsured and undocumented and I’m not too familiar with how insurance works, or the whole CPAP thing.

It’s come to my attention that you can buy second hand PAP machines but I’m not really sure how that works because I thought u needed a sleep test and stuff to get the proper settings applied to it and that it had to be done through like a doctor tailoring it? (Correct me if I’m wrong)

For reference I’m in SC.

Anyways my main questions / concerns are

  1. Is there any specific tests that is less expensive and will be most beneficial in my moms case?

  2. Any places in the area I can go to that may have lower prices (I know little river has lower prices but I’m not sure if that’s gonna be the same for the CPAP device)

  3. If I just buy a cpap machine, is it simple enough to change the settings?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Skinny fat

guys I feel like I hit a plateau and Im not losing any more weight/body fat. Like 3 years ago I made the conscious effort to lose weight i was 155 at my highest and maybe reached like 128 at my lowest. Since that point I’ve been in the 128-133 range and I can’t seem to get out of it no matter what. I don’t necessarily care about the scale I just want to physically look skinny/toned.

When i first started, i was mainly on a calorie deficit and i definitely saw a huge difference, weight dropped like crazy and I also did a little bit of exercise mainly cardio. But ever since then I tried to make my deficit higher but nothing really happened, if anything I felt like i became fatter. For like 1-2 days I tried to really count my calories and limit myself (kinda starve) but it only left me feeling weak and it honestly seemed like I was bigger)

When I was a kid i used to be super skinny like pure bones and I would honestly kinda like to go back to that point somewhere between how I looked then and how I look now.

For reference I’m male 18 130lbs 5,5. I definitely feel like I’m skinny fat like you wouldn’t see me and say oh he’s big but when I take my shirt off u can definitely see some fat but honestly it seems like the fat is only around my stomach / mid body area because I have really thin wrists and stuff.

Sometimes I feel like eating more makes me skinnier, or whenever i exercise TOO much I feel I also get fatter 😭 like I don’t get it. There’s definitely days where I do feel skinny like enough to be satisfied but it never lasts. Idk 😭

I highly suspect I have UARS but based off my in lab sleep results I don’t know what the next step is.

I’ve had severe sleep problems where I would wake up fatigued, hard to fall back asleep when I would randomly wake up, and overall poor sleep quality.

At first I thought it was perhaps anxiety related even tho it didn’t truly feel like that was the case based off my own personal feelings. So I tried therapy for months, improved sleep habits, diet changes, exercise, medication, literally everything you can think of, and nothing worked.

Then I tried using nasal strips/dilators and I have consistently been sleeping way better (I would say from a 3/10 to a 6-7/10) but it was still not completely fixed. So I went to an ENT and basically they found minor issues like enlarged turbinates and a slightly deviated septum but overall suggested I didn’t need surgery.

I’ve also noticed that sleeping certain ways like on my side helps me sleep better. So basically I have all the symptoms of UARS, found that nasal dilators, and positional adjustments made me sleep better which I feel like is definitely a sign.

I then had an in lab sleep study where I honestly struggled to sleep (took like 2 hours to fall asleep), partly because I was nervous but I also think not having my nasal dilators didn’t help since they’ve also made it way easier for me to fall asleep and stay asleep. Anyways I slept for like 3-4 hours but I honestly feel like it may not have caught my sleep at its most important stage (mornings is when I have random awakenings and wake up unrefreshed)

Basically, the study showed no evidence except I learned that I snore lightly apparently but literally all of my own personal experiences point to UARS and I’ve tried everything that I could have already if it really WAS more of a mental health problem than a respiratory one.

I don’t really know what I should do because it honestly feels like I’ve tried everything else that I could have. Maybe there’s something I’m missing so I want to keep an open mind but I still strongly feel like it’s a respiratory thing, at least a huge part of it.

Hello, I’ve been trying to deal with my sleep issues/chronic fatigue that I’ve been experiencing for several years. I suspect that it could be UARS (similar to sleep apnea) and wanted to see if CPAP/BIPAP could be beneficial. I wanted to know if someone had either machine that I could borrow to see if it makes a difference for me (i do have tests coming up but theyre several weeks away) I’m also willing to pay if needed.

Also, has anyone experience the same thing and is there any good resources/doctors in the area they recommend going to?
