Feedback on Wyonegonic Camp in Maine?

Hi, I'm looking to connect with some parents (or campers or staff) of Wyonegonic. I'm thinking of sending my daughter there. She loves the outdoors and it looks great, but it's been hard to find other parents (as opposed to the other camps). I know it has a long history. Any feedback?

What animal print is this?

I’m having the hardest time identifying this. The one of the left is the main one. It was big, like the length of my hand at least. The one on the right was near by. No other prints, but it was mostly a dry trail and this was a small muddy-ish section. Help me, Reddit!

This was on the Rock Lake trail in Indian Lake.

Lochearn, Kippewa, or Runoia?

I'm trying to decide between the above three camps for my daughter for next summer. I know they're different, namely that Runoia is a bit more rustic and outdoorsy focused. My daughter LOVES outdoorsy stuff so initially I thought I would be drawn to a more rustic place, but she also loves the arts and adventure, and so the other ones were appealing because they have more well rounded activities.

Mainly, my most important criteria is how people feel about the place, and the people who go there. I'm from NYC, but I don't want a place where girls are bringing their Louis Vuitton purses and very privlidged (I'm a teacher and my kids go to public school). Will Kippewa be too ritzy? I can't visit the Maine camps so I'm not sure how to make this decision. Any intel is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I posted this before and it was deleted so I'm rephrasing this... I'm just sharing and looking for any similar stories, and to hear how they turned out!

Last spring I had pain on the side of my neck that wouldn’t go away and went to the doctor. They discovered 3 nodules, all TRAD5. Two were biopsied (including the one that was giving me pain). TSH, T3, T4 normal. One was Bethesda 3, with nonspecific but suspicious molecular testing. That put me at a 50% chance, and I was going to move forward with a partial thyroid removal.

I decided to see an endo first (had only seen a surgeon at that point) and did repeat bloodwork. Well, my levels were all over the place (TSH was 58 at one point) and she said I might have subacute thyroiditis, which she said can imitate cancer. I was also feeling terrible, gaining weight, experiencing neck and ear pain, nerve pain, etc. She said it’s possible when my levels were tested earlier I was at normal but headed to the downswing (thyroiditis puts you in hyper first and then swings to hypo).

I delayed surgery and we’ve been monitoring. At my most recent check, bloodwork was getting more normal (TSH is now 8.8). The suspicious nodule shrunk a bit but is now just staying stable, still TRAD5. She says it’s likely I have thyroiditis, but cancer could still be there. She’s not really giving an opinion on surgery and says it’s my choice but there’s no danger to me to wait as long as nothing is growing.

I’m just so confused at this point. I told her I didn’t want surgery and I want to continue to monitor, but I'm nervous. Everyone keeps telling me “cancer doesn’t have symptoms” but I still, right now as I type, have mild ear and jaw pain. Endo also tells me the thyroiditis is now resolved. Nodule is stable and not improving, and I had that suspicious molecular testing.

Anyone out there also have a thyroiditis/potential cancer situation? I would love to hear any other journeys and stories!

I'm getting 300,000 from my father's estate, and need to figure out how to invest it.

Basically, my options are to pay off my entire mortgage (193,000 currently at 7%) and put the rest in high yield savings and brokerage, or to put everything in high yield and brokerage and leave the mortgage alone.

My husband and I co-own an apartment and the mortgage. We have a post nup that protects any investment I make into the principal, but splits any real estate appreciation equally (so in one sense, I won't get as much return as I would if I invest in the stock market).

We have a good marriage and I am not anticipating getting divorced, but I'm also realistic and have watched many friends get divorced, and want to be smart. We have two little kids. I'm earning under six figures as a teacher and he earns more than twice as much as me. My savings are decent considering my salary-- 300K retirement and 100K brokerage. I'm also expecting a higher inheritance from my mom once she passes (she's in her 80s), so while I want to invest in retirement, I'm not too panicked either.

My goals are:

-to protect my inheritance (not comingling or making it a marital asset)

-to lower our monthly costs (hence why I'm considering paying off mortgage) bc our expenses are very high at the moment

-to pad out my emergency fund

What would you do? In one sense, paying off the mortgage is smart because it's immediate monthly relief for the family and the money stays with me in the long run, but in another sense I'm missing potential growth and protection by investing or keeping all of it separate.

I've consulted with financial friends and different advisors and everyone is telling me something different-- Reddit, what would you do??

What would you do? Has anyone been through anything similar? Would love to hear others experiences with non traditional journeys to diagnoses.
