Need help with citations

Hi Everyone,

I am in ONE course for my entire degree that uses Chicago style for citations. I’m looking for someone who knows wtf they are doing and can add my citations into my paper. Will pay. Message me if you can help. Canadian preferred just so I can EMT, but I can figure out PayPal for the right person. I’m almost finished the essay and can provide the info, I just don’t have the mental capacity to learn this when I only have to write 2 essays for my degree using it. Thank you!

Advice - student with autism

Hi everyone,

I teach kindergarten and have a student who has autism with a 1:1 EA in my classroom. This student comes from a family that has several children with autism.

She has recently begun screaming so loudly that I honestly don’t know how it is possibly coming from her little body. It is so high pitched that I am concerned for my EA’s ears, along with mine and my students. She will remove her from the room when she starts, but it’s nearly constant. Nothing appeases her and she is doing this at home as well. The family is getting a lot of support at home but no one can give answers why she is doing this.

I am at my wits end. We basically are told “we don’t know how to help, wear earplugs” which obviously I support my EA doing however we all can’t wear earplugs. My students are often walking around with their hands covering their ears. Visuals haven’t been helping, she just continues screaming. Removing her from the room doesn’t help, she just continues screaming in the hallways or sensory room.

Has anyone dealt with this? What did you do? It seems to be out of frustration. If a toy doesn’t do what she wants it to do, she screams bloody murder. If she tries to get into something my in classroom that is off limits, she screams bloody murder. Tired, screams bloody murder. Communication is zero, eye contact is zero. She is learning to use an AAC device but we have a long way to go. I feel so bad for my student, my EA and the rest of my students.

Her family is very sweet and is obviously dealing with a lot of the same things at home (x3 with the siblings) but no one can help other than telling us to use ear plugs. Has anyone dealt with this and has any tips? She also destroys my classroom. Anything fun I plan she ends up ripping apart and needs to be removed from the room, and once again, she screams bloody murder.

Only just over a month to go until summer break but I would love to find something to help that can also be used next year in first grade. I know people will say maybe an underlying medical condition that is causing pain, and I did mention that to mom. But apparently her siblings were all similar at this age (I didn’t teach any of them).

EDIT: I wanted to address some of the comments here, I hope that’s okay! There is some really great advice. I’m a newish teacher, only a couple of years but I have worked with children with special needs for over 20 years. OT has come in to see her and has basically said “I don’t know how you are getting through the day like this” and walked away. We have tried weighted vests and compression vests but they haven’t helped. She has no interest in fidgets or anything. Sometimes she will play in water, but it has to be in the sink so that limits when the rest of the students can use the sink but we deal with that so she is happy for a short while. Like I said, visuals haven’t been working and the AAC device frustrates her but we are hoping once she catches on it will help to minimize a lot of these behaviours.

The principal is going to meet with mom, not sure how that will help since I have mentioned it to her several times but maybe she will look more into something medical causing distress? I will definitely try the noise canceling headphones, that is something that we haven’t tried yet so I will cross my fingers it helps.

Thank you everyone! Oh I also have a decibel reader and will be bringing it to school with me. Great idea. I will try and update my post if anything helps so hopefully it can help someone else who has a similar student.
