Sugars at 31 weeks versus what’s coming at 32- question!

I had an appointment today at 30w and 6d and my sugars have all been well within range, no issues. My doctor seemed very pleased and said everything is looking great. I mentioned that I read around 32 weeks things can start to change and should I expect some level of insulin resistance to rise. She just said anything is possible, cross that bridge when we get to it but I’m curious…
Has anyone had sugars that were perfect/great after diagnosis and took a downturn at 32 weeks or shortly after? If so what are some immediate changes you made, or things that helped to at least try to keep it under control?

Thanks everyone! This is my first time with this diagnosis and it’s so much different than the way my son’s T1D works, so I’ll take all the info I can get.

Anyone else having issues with circulation in their arms?

Im 30 weeks along night and every night when I sleep no matter what position my arms are in, they fall asleep/lose circulation and it wakes me up- even if I’m not laying on them. I have to constantly re adjust and re position them. Very frustrating and really odd, never had this issue prior to pregnancy. Anyone else experiencing this?

Curious about the 1 hour testing logic instead of 2 hour…

Hi all, I’m new to this sub, failed my 3 hour last Friday, diagnosed officially today via mychart message. Really disappointed but feeling pretty equipped to manage this given my son has type 1 diabetes so we’ve been doing the whole blood sugar song and dance for 9 years now.

My question is in regards to the testing at 1 hour after eating instead of 2 hour… Since we have supplies at the house I’ve been checking my sugars all weekend, once before I eat a meal to know what I’m starting at, a few times at 1 hour, but always at the 2 hours mark afterward. I had been following typical instructions we have for my son- with his type 1 we check 2 hours afterward to prevent any false readings from a late spike or delayed reaction to insulin being given.

Today the nurse who messaged me with the diagnosis said I only have to test fasting once in the morning, NOT required to check what my BG is before meals, but required to check one hour after instead of at the 2 hour mark. I messaged her back to clarify and just wanted to understand not testing before meals as well as using the 1 hour benchmark instead of 2 hours, but it takes them a few days to respond usually so I thought I’d ask here for some insight while I wait. Anyone have any insights as to why they use a 1 hour for gestational instead of 2 hour? Do all doctors do 1 hour instead of 2 hour tests?

My sugars have been good all weekend, great even but I do know from the few times I did test at the 1 and 2 hour mark I am always right at 140 or just slightly under at 1 hour, but always under 120 (80s-90) at the 2 hour. It seems to take my body a bit to drop so I’m worried if I only test at the 1 hour I may always be right at the line even though by 2 hours things look great. I know I could just choose to test at both if I want, but I also know with the way insurance works you’re only allotted a certain number of test strips a day and paying OOP would get pricey.

No water before or during 3 hour glucose test? Is this normal

Failed the 1 hour, taking the 3 hour tomorrow. Doctor gave me instructions and said to fast. Just to clarify on the fasting I messaged them back and said, okay just food though right I can still have water?
To which they replied no, Please do not to drink anything including water. If you absolutely have to you can take a few small sips. I was genuinely shocked because the fasting period is so long, food makes sense but no hydration? At all?

They said to start the fast midnight, by the time the test is finished tomorrow it will be almost 11 AM that will have been almost 12 hours without any hydration. However, we go to bed around 9 here (currently about to turn in as I write this) so for me it’ll be more like 14 hours no hydration. This seems absurd to me.

Has anyone else received this instruction before?

I am always making sure I’m hydrated so this is going to be perhaps the worst part of the test for me. They also said we have to just sit still, so it really feels like this test is done under really unnatural conditions. I don’t normally dehydrate myself, drink 100g of sugar and sit still for 3 hours. My cousin failed her 1 hr, passed her 3 hour and said she had completely different instructions, she was allowed to drink water and went to the target next door to her lab in between blood draws to walk around. I’m so confused on what’s “normal” for this test.

Thank you for any insight!

Anyone bought a quick guide for pregnancy and products?

I feel scattered with all the information out there. There’s just soooo much. I’ve saved some lists from Google, some Pinterest stuff, some reels on Instagram and have a lot of pregnancy books I’ve read that have been super helpful but I still feel like I need something more straight forward and all in one place.

Has anyone bought any like guides or PDFs that contain a complete list of everything you need to do before baby comes, hospital birth plan tips, and a list of stuff to buy? Before I spend the time writing my own out based on all the info I collected I figured I’d ask if anyone has gotten one they like from somewhere you can do digital downloads.

Thanks!

When did you start really preparing the nursery/buying things?

Currently 23 weeks and I’m just wondering when most people buy their big ticket items and start prepping the nursery… I know typically you wait until after your baby shower and get whatever wasn’t purchased from the registry but we’re not having one.
I know I can technically start buying anytime but I have had anxiety about the pregnancy and never feel in the “safe zone” so I haven’t gotten anything yet.

When did you start getting your items and the nursery set up?

RDU terminal 1

I typically only fly in the AM, so just curious… anyone know how busy security is in terminal 1 (small terminal) around 3-5 PM? Thanks!

Edit: the day of the week is Wednesday, flying out tomorrow.

Burning pain when walking

Has anyone else experienced a burning/searing pain in their lower pelvis when they try to go for a walk or do the treadmill (no incline, just regular walking)? It’s a pretty strong pain. I try to push through but at a certain point I tap out worried that something is wrong and I’m worsening it. The pain stops when I stop walking so I’m not thinking it’s typical round ligament pain.

I have a call into the doctor but it usually takes a day or two for them to get back to me so just curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar

Edit: just to add that I’m 21 weeks along

For those who can feel baby as early as 20 weeks how frequently do you feel them?

To preface this, I am very aware kick counts don’t start until 28 weeks when movement is more consistent. I am just curious for those of us who can feel baby kicking already (not just small butterflies but actual kicks), how frequent is it for you?
Once a day? A few times a day? All day?

wtf with these dreams…

Every single night I have the most vivid awful dreams. I feel like I am severely stressing my baby out because I wake up so upset or so panicked. Even when I tried to go back to sleep either go right back into the same bad dream or just have a different one. Sometimes they’re so vivid I feel like I’m not really sleeping. It’s exhausting.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Anything you’ve done that has been helpful?

I’m sorry but these doctors are so unserious with the “recommended weight gain” for pregnancy.

I went to my 16 week appt yesterday and for some stupid reason my brain decided to make the mistake of asking the midwife I saw how I am doing with my weight gain. Since I don’t have much of an appetite and am not really eating a ton I guess I was curious. I started at a normal weight for my height, no concerns with being overweight. So far I’ve gained just shy of 7 pounds.
The midwife replied the recommended weight gain is 15lbs, 25lbs max so I’m doing “okay” having gained 7 already but I should “be careful and shouldn’t deliberately increase my eating”. I was like that’s interesting because I have no appetite so I have to force myself to even get down 3 meals a day…but sure, Roger that.

I had the heard 25 pound recommendation before but never 15. I’m sorry but 15 effing pounds?! Maybe for some women but I’d venture to guess the majority of us surpass that easily. I had an 8 lb baby last time- he would’ve make up more than half of that alone. It just seems so unrealistic. My sister in law ate absurdly healthy (annoyingly so, going out to dinner with her was awful 😅) worked out every single day right up until the week my nephew was born, looked “all belly” and still said she gained 38 pounds.

I need to know what MAN way back in the day undoubtably made these weight gain “recommendations” 😒 bodies are different. Pregnancies are unique. I don’t even really understand why these recommendations exist anymore. Anyway… rant over.

I’m not going to stress over the weight. I plan to continue to eat healthy, work out, and enjoy my pregnancy as long as I can. I hope all you other mamas are feeling happy and healthy as well!

UPDATE: I have no idea why this post got locked. I’m assuming a moderator did it. Thanks everyone for your comments!
