The Brilliance of Robert Hunter

This specific instance of his brilliance comes from the Amazon documentary 'Long Strange Trip'. They're discussing him being notoriously reclusive and unwilling to discuss the meaning of his lyrics (Dark Star):

"...shall we go you and I while we can, through the transitive nightfall of diamonds....well what's unclear about that??!!"

Brilliant!

This Show Restored My Faith in Humanity, Then Removed It

Reasons it removed my faith in humanity - it was cancelled.

Reasons it restored my faith in humanity:

"It gives a name to pleasurable midday wetness..."

"There's probably cool wine bars and sh*t..."

Most things Cool Rick does and says (Era Authentic Beastie Boy sweats, when he plays Root Down, when he tells Alice he's a Tavner and he won't talk about what John does)

When John asks the HR guy in Paris what's important to him in his life...replica model trains and landscapes..."those guys said that was f*cked up...."

The Swiss watch maker approach to the geometry and logistics of many scenes. When John is in the pipe and many people come to him demanding things, we see Dennis way off in the background walking towards John. It must be 60 seconds or more until he reaches John but we see him the entire time. Amazing and precise and courageous!

Too many other scenes and lines to list.

The Living History Museum of the Grateful Dead

Its just an idea I've had since the boys are mostly gone. A living history museum of the Gratefeul Dead, probably in the Bay Area. It would be similar to the Sphere in Vegas, very advanced and modern and a huge Wow factor. As one enters, it would be 1964-65 at Magoo's Pizza. Huge images of Jerry and Bob and Robert float overhead and they are just babies! Advancing through the museum its now later in the 60s and the acid test is going on around you, with Pig going nuts and Neil Cassady speaking from another dimension. We see Bear in the kitchen whipping up a batch. Moving into the 70s we see album covers emerge, along with 1000s of pictures and videos painting a picture of the solidification of the band. American Beauty rises up, so does Workingman's and you constantly hear Ripple and Black Peter and Uncle John. The videos and music from Europe 72 materializes in the next section of the museum. it could be a bit unblinking, with some of the issues with the band discussed in 74 (and others). You get the picture, on through the month and years and Days Between until the last haunting image is Jerry, white and ethereal and probably already crossing over, playing So Many Roads in Chicago 95. The final section is the Living History dedicated to Dead Heads. There must be millions of photos, tapes, tickets, shirts, sermons, and memories out there in shoe boxes and drawers and cherished by the community. Some of this could be sent in and on display, plus the archive warehouse, showing the music and the scene and the vibe living on for Eternity. The total cost could be hundreds of millions. Just an idea!

Does It Ever Get Any Better?

53 year old man. CPTSD from severe childhood neglect, trauma, and abuse. I've tried 5-6 different meds. Read every book. 4-5 different therapists. EMDR, journaling, psychedelics, prayer, exercise. I still feel like i end up in the same spot, feeling like a 9-year old boy whose scared sh*tless and alone in the world. CAN it get better?
