RE4 Boat Fight

Was really in to RE4 on PSVR2. Then stopped at the lake monster because the boat fight gave me a little motion sickness..... Now I want to go back, havent played in a while, and that particular part is just a recipe for nausea....

Is there any way to skip it?

10 min Rapid vs 3/2 Blitz

I have much more fun playing 10 min Rapid than 3/2 Blitz. The games are more strategic, the players seem better and less rude, and whether I win or lose I usually have fun.

The 3/2 Blitz games are stressful and most of the players are kind of annoying.

My Rapid rating is much higher than my Blitz fwiw.

I used to think Blitz was a better use of my time, because it was shorter. I used to play it more for many years.

But tbh I think I am done with Blitz. Even when I win, it feels less meaningful.

Just thought I would share - If you are frustrated playing Blitz, Rapid is filled with better players and you will have more fun.

What about you - do you prefer Blitz or Rapid?

Apple Vulkan Support

Why doesnt Apple support Vulkan? (I know KosmicKrisp exists)

Is vendor lockin that important? Does that strategy work for them - are there many developers that use metal and not support other platforms? Seems like the result is not really lockin, but just forcing more work for developers?

Kind of feels like a poor architecture decision that helps no one, except maybe giving slightly more control to Apple at the expense of their developers as well as the complexity of maintaining another api.

VK_NV_low_latency2 and VK_AMD_anti_lag

Are there any plans to standardize these into one common extension?

It seems that a single extension would align more philosophically with having a standard API across hardware.

Related question - How is Vulkan evolved? Does Nvidia/AMD agree on the direction?

Thanks for any insight - just trying to understand the dynamics of the process

<BEGIN RANT> Apologies for complaining about player integrity:

I was playing a 10 min match... and my opponent made a blunder in the beginning and lost their queen.... but surprisingly they keep playing.

So I was like... ok lets not mess this up and just trade pieces. But of course I eventually make a blunder myself, and I lost my queen too!

At this point it is an even match... and I am like - cool, well at least it is a fun challenge again.

So we keep playing ...

Eventually they make another mistake and have to make a move that will end up losing their bishop.

But... they ... dont move....

With 4 minutes each on the clock at this point, they still dont make a move... 1 minute... 2 minutes...3 minutes....

At some point, I opened up another browser window and went about my morning routine surfing the net, but I kept the match in the background so I could see the clock.

Maybe they "forgot" and left their browser open instead of resigning?

Sure enough, with literally 5 seconds left on their clock .... they make a quick move.

I end up winning in the end, but they were able to waste our time.

The lesson here: Dont be that guy - just play or resign.

</END RANT>
