Cleric Beast +0 (Hitless)

Of course, the winning attempt is the one where I tragically whiff the opening transforming attack on his head...

This was much harder than expected, he has one-damage hitboxes on his feet during the multi hit combos which infuriated me to no end. I also tried not to use fire paper for quite a while (I didn't want my plans to involve having to farm), and I kind of think buffless +0 will be too much for this run, the damage difference is absurd. Ultimately, when I stopped being stubborn and finally dropped the lock on, things got much easier.

Owl (Father) Hitless (Charmless, Demon Bell, Reflection)

Phase 1 is peak Sekiro, absolute cinema. Phase 2 for some reason adds extra stalling and visual clutter courtesy of blue owl but the peak base moveset remains. Plus the fire owl is cool as shit. Can't forget the OST either.

Next is Great Shinobi Owl, who may be the hardest main game boss to no-hit in my opinion. Will take tips if you have any.

Malenia, Blade of Miquella w/Executioner's Greataxe (+0/NG+7/No Aux)

I was thinking of doing a gimmick fight for this but ended up deciding my idea was dumb, so I wanted to do my no aux kill better. I'm much more familiar with this weapon than I was with FKGS, and the crits on this thing are really good. It's basically like having a high stance damaging misericorde for a main weapon.

+25 I like RKR because of the crits + decently quickly CR2s but +0 you can't beat Flaming Strike/Lightning Slash/Sacred Blade. Lightning Slash also givers you that Dragonslayer Greataxe from Wish/Temu vibe which is a plus. Anyways, hope you enjoy (or don't, I'm not your boss).

Ranking Remembrance Bosses based on enjoyment during RL1 playthrough

Throw back to old-PCR. What you do in this situation.

I knew it was coming to hence me running for my life.

Edit: This was just an old clip btw. I’m glad it’s gone to be honest.

Bayle the Dread vs. Flower Power (+0/NG+7/SB0)

Scarlet Aenoia is such trash lmao. Without using Rot Grease at the start, a full Aenoia on the first stagger isn't by itself enough to proc Rot. Rotten Butterflies can do so (by itself) both the first time, and the second with heightened status resist (plus it's quicker and 33 faith is actually much easier than 35 without the physick). PFBT because it has flower in the name, Butterflies because they tend to like flowers in my experience.

I was gonna do it with the headpiece being the St. Trina purple flower but I really needed 33 faith, so haligtree knight it is. Getting to 33 without the physick and +2 from helmet would've meant needing Dragonscale Flesh to get to 28 Strength, then using Grafted Blade 2handed for Oath of Vengeance, to then use Fingerprint Nostrum (replacing flesh) to make up the additional faith - whilst retaining the flower aesthetic, of course. In other words, yeah fuck that.

Anyway, you can actually use Scarlet Aeonia to dodge Bayle's nuke, but it's both a stupid idea and incredibly unsafe to do so. But it is very funny to me, at least. I could have shaved off like 30 seconds from the fight time by going for Sunflower to finish the job at the end, but didn't notice in the moment immediately.

About to send my controller flying

Apart from being closer before the move starts, does anyone know how i could've dodged this attack in this situation? No idea what to do if I'm at range like this and she rolls

Romina RL1+0 SB0 no status/aux no hit

Annoying, stalling, boring boss to fight. Crucible talisman helped I guess, got the kill 3 tries after putting it on. This might just be the most stall I've ever had on a phase 2, the only real punish I think I'm not doing is dodging into the end of the roll attack, but I've tried a lot and cannot get consistent with it.

Just glad it's over

u/kadenmad — 1 day ago

This attack has be wondering if it's ever safe to do a charged R2

Just comes out ridiculously fast. I have never died when a boss is low health like this more times than romina, losing my mind this shit is insane

Tomoe Hitless (Charmless, Demon Bell, NG+)

An easy method is to go for 2 R1s during most punishes then react to whatever Tomoe's response is, since just like Isshin some of her moves have hyper armor. She has the fastest posture recovery in the game, but if you keep up the aggression and know which moves can be safely interrupted, you can prevent her from regenerating all of it.

A suggestion is to use Phantom Kunai to counter her input reading for projectiles. I also recommend using Flame Vent's Living Force since she is weak to fire.

Spiral Cloud Passage has to be one of my favorite moves to fully deflect, though Loaded Umbrella is very useful if you want an easier time. That said, she will recover vitality on block so you should still spin the Umbrella. Phantom Kunai can be used for triggering the semi-scripted first Spiral Cloud Passage. Another tip is that you can Mikiri the finishing thrust during her Phantoms for a big punish.

I love how you are heavily rewarded for surviving her most difficult yet still intuitive moves, it's a sign of great game design. Absolutely one of my favorite bosses from the DLC!

I did it! SL 1, done.

I finally did it, I have been playing this game since launch, and finally decided to do a soul level 1 run this last week or so.

I recommend this challange to all old hats like me, the game nearly felt like new again.

I have platinum both PTDE and the remaster on steam. But this was the real Dark Souls of Dark Souls.

All bosses except for Manus and Kalameat, because... anyway dont give up skeleton

SL1 Oceiros No Roll/Block/Parry Flawless (with advice)

Excuse the audio, it cuts out cause I was in call with my friends and it cuts whenever they talk.

This is probably the hardest no roll I've done so far. Mostly because he's so incredibly obtuse between his hitboxes and strategies. I could've gotten it significantly earlier had I used DSA and done him with a +10 weapon and lightning grease, but I really wanted to understand the boss well.

Major credits to u/Zealousarchmage, AcaciaVix, and Mustafa Souls. Zealous' advice and the videos from the latter two helped me the most in getting this kill. Figuring out the strategies for this one is just crazy.

For anyone doing this kill, in the future, here's some advice (take some of it with a grain of salt, I'm not amazing at fighting this guy, just enough to survive a decent amount).

Phase 1:

The whole phase 1 strategy revolves around staying below him to avoid all his attacks. Two attack will basically stop you from doing this, the jump attack and the ice attack. Personally, I think the ice attack is unironically worse than the jump.

You can safely get below Oceiros by hiding behind the tree on the left by the way. Sometimes, I get clipped by his double swipe attack when sprinting straight in.

>Jump Attack

For the jump, Oceiros' jump will end up in different places relative to your position. This means there's a LOT of different scenarios you can be in where a specific method won't work. Here's the strategies that I found.

If Oceiros does the jump right in your face when you're not on his left or right, walk below him then walk backwards. Typically, Oceiros will do a 180 and you'll end up behind him. This is visible around 13 seconds into the video.

If Oceiros does the jump and you're on his side, keep strafing to that side. For example, if you're strafing clockwise/counterclockwise (I will abbreviate as CW/CCW), you will keep strafing CW/CCW. Generally, I recommend strafing CCW as his weapon isn't on that side. You can't see this in my video sadly as he didn't repeat the jump attack multiples times.

If you have a bit of distance from Oceiros, you can look straight up and see which way he rotates, then use that to go underneath or to the side of him.

If Oceiros does it with a bit of distance in your face or when you're right behind him, run backwards then strafe to your left (while facing him) to narrowly avoid the hitbox of his weapon. You can see this 30 seconds in mine after I avoid the ice.

It will take some time to get this ingrained in muscle memory, but once you have it, it's generally not that much of an issue unless you're in some nasty situation with the terrain.

>Ice Attack

For the ice attack, I just tried my best to bait the jump attack so then I could run away and strafe left to avoid the weapon. However, if this doesn't happen I like to keep close and get him to do his step backwards which helps you stay behind him longer.

If he moves forward, I'm sorry to say it, but good luck. I genuinely don't know how to stall him for long enough to get below him when the ice goes away. This is why it's the worst attack in my opinion. It's probably completely an issue on my end.

Phase 2:

The whole strategy in phase 2 revolves around keeping the proper distance from Oceiros so then he doesn't do his charge attack. If you have that proper distance, Oceiros can only do a few attacks. It's a bit hard to explain, but it's like 3 steps away from his head. I recommend using videos to really internalize it.

Okay, now there's really two positions you should only be in, you will either be in front of Oceiros, or behind him. I'll talk about the front first.

>Front

If Oceiros does the charge immediately, you're not positioned properly. You are likely too close (do not be touching his head or below him), or too far.

If you have proper positioning, Oceiros can either do his bite, breath attack, overhead slam combo, and rarely the tail spin. All of which can be avoided by walking forward (except the last one), but slightly differently.

Bite: Walk forward with a slight angle to the left, you can get under the bite, then walk straight left to get out of him because he will follow this with the charge attack. He has two variants that I know, where he does bite -> bite -> charge, or the bite -> charge. Either way, you should have enough time to get out.

Breath attack: One of the freest attacks he can do. You just walk up and smack him twice then walk away till the proper distance (where the crystals break).

Overhead slam: You can immediately walk below it then do a light attack backwards to clip him. If you're low on stamina, I don't recommend the light attack. I also think that the light attack may be a problem for no sprint, but I'm not sure.

Rarely tail spin from the front: You're fucked. I seriously don't get how anyone is meant to recognize this in time or avoid it. I managed to avoid it once in all the times I've seen it which is a lot. I also have yet to see a winning kill where Oceiros actually does this.

The recommended methods I've been told is spacing it (maybe I just react too slow), or supposedly R1 duck it with some weapons but it's terrain dependent, I'm not the best person to ask about this attack.

>Behind

When staying behind Oceiros, he can do two specific actions, he can jump around to face you, or do his tail spin.

You want to stay in a specific area so that way if he jumps around, you are properly positioned for him to not do the charge attack. This can be seen in the video.

If he does the tail spin, you want to be positioned so that way Oceiros does one of his two tail spin variants, this will be explained a bit more below.

There is two variants of the tail spin, one where he slams down (bad) and one where he does a full 720 spin (good). The slam down variant will happen if you're positioned too far behind, or too far to the right.

The reason why the slam down is bad is because Oceiros doesn't keep the same orientation. You want to stay behind Oceiros' back right leg, but his slam down doesn't make him do a full 360/720, and instead it's more like a 540 which ruins your positioning.

When dealing with Oceiros' tail spin, you want to stay near his back right leg, then walk a bit to the back right. I find it's a lot more lenient if you do a CR2 as well. The positioning is hard to learn honestly, it's a lot of trial and error, sorry I can help much more with that.

If you mess up the positioning, you might end up at Oceiros' back left leg. If Oceiros does the tail spin again here, you can run away to space it. Otherwise, you can run below his tail parallel to his legs and get into the safe spot.

>Extra

If you're far away, Oceiros can do his straight breath attack, you can use this to properly position again.

If you're really far away, Oceiros will do his flying breath attack which can be avoided by sprinting sideways and jumping to clear it. Do not stay in front of Oceiros or else he will do his charge and kill you. I've seen in no sprint you can use the Onikiri and Ubadachi to clear it as well, but I recommend using AcaciaVix and Mustafa Souls' kills for reference on that.

Anyway, that's all. I hate Oceiros.

Lady Butterfly Hitless (Charmless, Demon Bell, Reflection)

Been dreading this so I left it near the end. Glad to get it done without too much grief, though far from easy. Sekiro's early game bosses are surprisingly difficult.

One of my least favorite memory bosses, really not sure what they were thinking with phase 2. It seems getting her stuck against a wall is optimal in phase 2 but apparently there's a bug where she instantly spawns the butterflies. I've never encountered that one myself, though maybe it's just RNG.

Rick is Now a Proper God

It was with a leveled up weapon and allowing only cold aux (only because I have no patience for a +0 run 🤣), but no vow, no fgms, no howl, just me helping Rick to achieve proper Godhood.
