Interesting how in Chinese, the version's name is 向渊行 which translates to "Into the abyss" and the Homecoming is the 2nd meaning

Also can we talk a bit about the fonts used for the version's name here? It looks so collapsed and ruined, really reminds me a lot of RE and Silent Hill lol.

Now I think about it, Fangyi's goodwill is quite literally the only reason why the Stockade still exists. The actual Hongshan academy doesnt give a shit about the stockaders.

I mean... do I need to elaborate on this?

It's Wuling, specifically Fangyi that cares about Stockaders, Hongshan Academy doesnt actually give a shit about them and prob treats them as nuisances.

10 years ago in the disaster Hongshan sent supplies and troops to defend Wulingers from the threats the exploded Very Large Rift caused but they never mentioned themselves covering aids to Stockaders despite them prob not being pirates before the disaster happened. It's Wuling or prob Fangyi herself having to share the supplies they got to Stockaders.

Summit who is directly under HAS authorities also treated Stockaders as Cangzei pirates, Fangyi had to correct him since she disliked stockaders being degraded like that.

And lately in the Mi Fu's quest, Mi Fu said it herself that Fangyi is the only reason why they are still there. Yea I mean after the shit Ruan Yi tried to pull and seeing many Stockaders joining the Landbreakers to terrorize Wuling city, Fangyi prob had to explain a lot why HAS shouldnt just flatten the Stockade after the war with Nefarith, esp after they have interrogated the captured stockaders in Hongshan City.

Imagine if Fangyi wasnt the viceroy and was someone else with a more hardline way of governing lol.

Sooo after reading Valenrodya's uptie story, a thought about Valencina occured to me

Isn't Valencina's entire battle style relying a bit too much on her eye? Of course I'm not saying that she cant fight normally or have a normal duel, but it seems to me that her eye is literally her ultimate winning condition.

Like in the entire fight against Lord of the Flies, we can see that a lot of her moves are basically following the eyes' calculations for the best possible outcomes to obtain the kill. Her entire Parlemetian style despite saying that it works best on a duel seems more or less exist to follow the eyes calculations? And the moment something unexpected happens, we see how she immediately takes a hit or lets her guard down way too much.

Is this why Lucio has such a hard time following this style lmao? Since Valencina isnt aware how much her entire style relies on following the eye's calculations so she keeps shitting on him for not being able to follow her correctly despite her having an entire AI giving her the winning strat.

This new Umbral stage really makes me realize how easy they went on us with CC's mechanics lmao

Yes, quite literally sealing, your operator's moves are cancelled immediately even their ult. They are immediately stuck there, unable to do anything. This shit makes that flash freeze risk in CC looks like coughing baby

Also this stage is pure cancer, since the Æthilu actually deals a shit ton of damage.

When you realize that Ereignis here is not talking about things in the past but a prophecy about things to come, it hits a bit quite different

Ereignis means "event" in German, but not just any event, it means an event that is great or of importance.

So when people looked at this, many initially thought it was talking about Endmin's past. However, the more I look at it, it seems to be talking about... the future? Basically it's a prophecy.

1st line: "Saw I the throne-bearer, lost unto his lore".

Throne-bearer here can specifically be refering to the religious bearers of thrones of gods which represent surpreme divinity. In this case it fits the Endmin who is of utmost powerful and treated nearly like a god on Talos II who has lost their own memories and it's because they quite literally well... sits on a "throne" in Dijiang

2nd line: "Saw I the war-bearer, fall'n amid the gore"

It's worth noting that in Chinese, the war-bearer here is 征服者 which means... Conqueror aka Nefarith's title. And she quite literally fell to her death.

So far, these 2 events have happened and they were predicted by Ereignis, the other 2 left that have yet to happen

One is of the Grave-mocker which I assume will be Ardashir? Since the phrase they used for Chinese is 拒亡者 which means death rejector. However, the 2nd part in Chinese means "having nothing at all". So Ardashir either will lose everything or it will be someone else?

However, the most interesting line is the 4th one where it is "O'er boundless realms, no crown endureth evermore" which translates to "Over the vast lands, no crown stands forever" which could possibly be refering to the Civilization band and the current entity/contract ruling over it which is the Band Accord who holds 90% of the Talosian population. So in the future after those 3 parts have happened, there could be a major event that will happen that will topple the current world order.

This seems to be more or less the case when the game has constantly hinted at the idea of internal troubles and internal enemies brewing. With the recent prophecy in Camille's quest directly talking about a great internecine war to come.

Also side note, I like how the lines later lit refer to the Endmin. They rose through the ranks by their contribution in the 1st Aggeloi war, then remained in power and revered through their deeds in the civ band, but one day it will all end when "time" comes to them which is now when they are supposedly at their weakest in terms of powers.

That countdown at the prologue now makes a lot of sense, it is quite lit counting down to when all of this will happen, it's a big symbolism.

Welp, I guess I will stick around to see the civ band being toppled.

A character retrospective, Char (Camille quest spoiler and some AK main story spoiler obviously). In my opinion, possibly the most interesting character yet in EF.

So recently I have become really interested in Char not only because of his role in the story and the implications of it, but also essentially his mindset as a whole. I think overall, he's a very interestingly written character that subverts the whole self-fulfilling prophecy trope in a very unique way.

Smug ass Duq'arael larper

1. The people that he and his brother are parallels to

For non AK fans, Char and Camille are supposed to be a parallel of Duq'arael, a major antagonist in AK and and his brother Danso whom Duq killed because he disagreed with his brother's pacifist policy for Kazdel as he was chosen to be the race's leader.

While we do not know what Danso was like since he is only briefly mentioned and since he's well... dead, we do know what Duq'arael was like.

Duq'arael, the Sanguinarch of the Vampire

Duq'arael was a man who was full of himself, prideful and is exactly one of those hard stubborn old man who prefers to be a worm over a genZ bat as he prefers to preserve his precious Teekaz blood. He would probably want to raze Ses'qa to the ground if he were to see it.

Ehem, anyways, he killed his brother and claimed his Teekaz blood because he disliked his brother's policy like I said so the crown can choose a better ruler than the pacifist one like his bro but time and time again the crown chose pacifists which lead to him becoming disillusioned by it and considers the crown to be pitiful.

This is mostly because he believes in a very violent prophecy or fate that vampires like him are borned and lived by blood, he revolves around blood which he associated with violence. So to him, pain and violence is naturally part of the cycle so he dislikes pacifist route a lot.

Obviously this is wrong on so many level lol, but I think if you have played Camille quest, you can roughly see the parallel which is why the game gave you the note about Duq'arael and Danso in the theatre section.

In a twisted sense the cycle of violence continued like Duq believed, but the way it continued is genuinely very intriguing because it more or less is a self-fulfilling prophecy, but Char is the one actively fulfilling it

2. Char, a very insecure man and the obsession with his brother

Char Arno is more or less a very prideful person that feels insecured about his position relatively to the world, others and even his own brother. This ultimately stems from his inferior power and lack of talent for arts compared to Camille, so he constantly feels like everyone sees him as useless and lacking.

Unlike Duq'arael that has the power to back up his goals, beliefs and his prideful attitude, Char doesn't have any of that so he constantly feels like he's always living in his brother's shadows, being disregarded thus slowly building up hatred for the world and people around him. But most of the time it was just that, he felt inferior but he kept it to himself and just swallowed it not expressing it to anyone.

That is until he hears about the prophecy which was the turning point in his life:

The Sarkaz prophecy about 2 brothers inevitably clsahing, hinting at a possible internecine war

The prophecy talks about 2 brothers that are destined to seperate but they will reunite and will slaughter eachother until only one remains which can be a hint for something bigger, a bad omen of a great war to come.

Normally when seeing this, anyone would try to prevent it as much as possible as they do not want great disasters or destructions brought upon them. However, when Char saw this, he believed in it and took it seriously, but in an extremely twisted and messed up way:

Char's comment about the prophecy

He did not only believe in it, but to his child's mind at the time who believed that everyone hated him, he genuinely believed that the reason why he is like this is because fate made him this way, that he was destined for evil, for seperation and destruction and the Ses'qa he already disliked to a degree supposedly already knew about this but they still allowed it to happen to him.

Imagine being a child who hated himself and wonders why the world is so unfair to you, then you got the relevation that supposedly, this is supposed to happen and everyone that knows about it let it happen.

This must have broken his mind to pieces and was the turning point in his life. He basically concluded that: "If this is how you want to play, I will play by your rules". You can only imagine when Jakub attacked Ses'qa and his brother gave him half of his power, he probably was extremely delighted that the prophecy is becoming true.

And the rest is history, from then on he firmly believes that all of his hatred, crimes and betrayal are part of the inevitable prophecy that will happen. So he doesnt take any remorse for it. One can also only imagine how the time with Jakub leading the Landbreakers prob shaped his worldview as well.

He believes in the prophecy not because of a noble or mighty goal, but I believe it is more or less a coping mechanism for him to justify his actions, positions and status compared to his brother and the world. This is why he is so obsessed with his brother as well, he doesnt love Camille, he wants to keep Camille around and torment him because it is the only way he can satisfy his own insecurity by believing that he's on equal ground with his brother through the prophecy. This is why when Endmin mocked his prophecy, he genuinely got mad at it because it was essentially attacking his own ego and coping mechanism.

And now from all of that, he is ready to wage a major war against the Civ band.

3. Final thoughts

Genuinely, I think this is the best written antagonist Endfield has written yet even if the bar is low as hell. I would dare say even by AK standards, his characterization and backgrounds are really well done and makes more sense the more you think about it.

You guys probably do not know it, but I love this kind of character's motivations and backstory. It is not some mythical or godly background where char X is destined to be god's vessle to save the world, or antag Y is destined to fulfill a greater purpose. No, this is just raw character doing bad things because he was shaped to be like that.

Char really hits like home for an AK story enjoyer like me, not because of his edgy themes or Duq'arael or whatever, but more about how emotionally and self-grounded he is about his actions, goals and motivations. One big thing I really like about AK is not its themes about war, conflicts, etc... but how grounded many of the characters feel, that their motivations, goals and actions are shaped by their own experience, beliefs and mindset.

Char is exactly that, he is the kind of AK writing I want and I cant wait to see more of him in the future.

Also he is a really unique take on the self-fulfilling prophecy trope. As he is the one causing it all on his own, no one did this to him but himself, but instead of actively preventing it to cause it to happen, he is fully aware of it and wants it to happen.

Finally, f they can pull the same thing off with the vagueposting pasha when his backstory is revealed, I would be genuinely really happy.

By the way, since they wrote Char so well, can we get the same thing for Neffy in the future too when we have Endmin flashbacks or smt. If Neffy was as well written as Char, the story would prob have been more enjoyable

About the prophecy in Camille's quest. What are you guys thoughts on it?

I think people have all done it by now so I ask everyone's opinions on the prophecy what do you guys think?

I think it's interesting because as a whole, this is actually the 3rd time we have been hinted at an inevitable war that ends everything to come.

1st is by Ereignis in the prolouge where they prophesized everything will eventually has to come to an end, 2nd is in Last Rite's 4th file where Fleming (yes the founder of Ses'qa) mentioned that Last Rite should remain a child before things get real on Talos II. This 3rd mention in Camille's quest just brings it up directly to players.

It's interesting since it brings up a common theme that I only have been realizing up until now in Endfield. We are quite literally at the end of things.

A lot of the major things have happened in the past, many things we at the present arent really connected to but can only feel that it has happened from the stuffs we see in the present. They were all inevitable in the end and we could not change how they happened. And now, the exiles are ready to cause another massive full scale war against us with how many hints they are teasing.

Also idk if this is related or not, but since AK as a whole takes a lot of inspirations from the bible and Endfield logo is also mostly just a flipped logo of Babel, I think there is an interesting line from the bible that interestingly lines up with Endfield's situation quite well:

"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."

- Matthew 24:6-13

"Wars and rumors of wars" : many hints of an inevitable massive mutually destructive war to come in game

"Such things must happen" : Ses'qa leaders accepting such a thing will happen and Char is fulfilling it whether intentional or not

"you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations" : Ardashir talking about a betrayal from 10 years by our own allies that lead to our current situation

"At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people." : The betrayal from 10 years ago means there is a decent corrosion in the trust for Endmin going on, and many people like Nefarith turned to Æther for salvation instead of Orignium and promised people a better future than the ones right now. They also obviously have a shit ton of allies in the civ band backing them.

Like I'm not to say it's intentional or smt, but isnt it lining up a bit too nicely lmao? If this is intentional then damn, we have smt going on.

I normally dont enjoy corny moments of "you are not alone" in story but I do have to admit this was a really good sequence with the small details (Camille quest spoiler)

Yes, I took it from a video on youtube because I have already played my part and I'm just rewatching it for some details if anyone asked why there is a logo

Anyways, I really like this sequence because it's really simple yet characterizes the Endmin really well and shows that Camille has opened up to them more. This scene occurs after Camille almost got trapped by Char's trap so Endmin exerted their powers and manipulated Originium to pull Camille out.

If it were a normal scene I wouldnt talk much about it, but the scene after you have Endmin staring into the open space and looking at their own hand that just got golden veins, pondering to themselves while Camille looked in worry. Endmin saw that and they had to think a bit before reassuring Camille.

It says a lot about Endmin's character being a selfless person not caring about themselves, they are aware that their body conditions are not the strongest nor can they go full power without killing themselves but they still want to help others and gain their trust. In this small sequence, you can def feel that Endmin thought: "This is quite... bad" but still had to reassure others they are fine to get them worried. Which leads to a good sequence of Camille trusting Endmin for that to lore drop his brother's story immediately after.

It also basically fits with the Endmin's image we have seen so far being one of wanting to help others, not leave anyone behind while building trust and bonds no matter their own life.

I think this sequence resonates really well with me as well since back when I was young, I saw my dad kept being tired and asked him if he was fine, he just answered that he's fine but deep down I knew he just said that to not get me worried. I think anyone probably have had a few moments like that in their lives so they do get it right?

So what kind of fighting school or technique does UWST have for it to be as highly ranked as HAS special force

Was rewatching some parts of Mi Fu's quest and this part Mi Fu was trying to describe the Grandmaster prowess so she made comparisions to Yinglung and UWST??

It's something minor but it's interesting nonetheless to me because Yinglung specifically is stated to be recruited and trained using Yanese imperial guards recruitment methods so their troops' combat prowess must be quite high. But UWST being put on the same league as well? Sheesh.

Just exactly what kind of hardship or combat training do UWST fighting forces go through to be ranked in the same position as literal imperial guards training.

I have an idea to fix the game's lock on system of this game. And I want you guys to help me spread it and inform the devs so they consider it.

For context, I think we can all agree that this game's lock on system is ass, like abyssmally ass due to it not locking on the enemy you want properly and it switches the camera. You have tried CC and realized it's kinda ass and that umbral monument stage where a gazillion frogs spawn just plainly reveals the very weakness of this game's lock on system.

However, have you ever actually wondered why that is the case? Because how can other action games do the same lock on system of locking to the nearest enemy and it works fine but it's just stupidly annoying or say, even bad in Endfield despite it also being an action game?

After examining it carefully, I have come to 3 main reasons. Here are the reasons:

  1. Lack of option to untoggle camera lock on combined with how enemies are designed.

Many enemies of this game are designed to have a combination of both ranged and melee attacks and they know how to either flank or distance themselves from you. This creates many situations where your camera spins around horrendously when an enemy is flanking or moving around a lot which make it annoying esp when you have to deal with many enemies.

  1. Many enemies combinations in this game are designed with intentions for you to prioritize something first.

Let's say you fight a combo of the effigy and the water aggeloi that grants res to the enemies. So you want to take down those small supporting ones first, but when you get close to it, the effigy flies torward you and does a moment of "Aha!" and makes you lock onto it instead and since it is the closest enemy to you, you literally cannot lock onto the supporting aggeloi to kill, creating extremely frustrating moments.

The enemies design philosophy of this game and its action lock on system of locking onto the nearest enemy simply doesnt mash well like at all. You have prob experienced what I said already to a certain degree and we can prob all agree that we prob all thought "Omg, if only I can lock onto the enemy more properly" at some point.

  1. Battles in this game are sometimes extremely well, hectic.

Like I think we all agree that yea, a lot of times in hectic moments, you dont even know who tf you are even locking on. The improved indicator barely is even visible. And you dont even really have the time to see the white mark when other enemies around you are attacking you.

So by the time you realize who you are locking on, the enemy prob already did like 2 to 3 moves on you while the enemy you locked fly away flinging your camera with it.

These 3 reasons combined create a generally very unsatisfying lock on system.

So how should we fix this? Well I have a suggestion and here is my proposal.

Add a manual hard lock on that either freezes the battle or slows it down for you to choose which enemy you want to lock on when you press the lock on button.

This proposal is aimed torwards solving the issues mentioned above.

Manual lock ons to target the enemies you want to prioritize like the supporting or the ranged ones so they cannot snipe you. The freezing or slow down is to combat the hecticness of the battles with many things happening so you can choose which enemy to lock on. And of course, the lock on will not lock your camera to the enemy as well.

To disable it you will just simply press the lock on button again, and to lock onto a new enemy, just press to lock on button again to choose a new one.

This is my suggestion, in my opinion this can help solve the problem this game's lock on system is having, making it not only quicker, easier and more precised to use but also adds an interesting gameplay addition and opens to many enemies and boss's mechanics in the future where you have to prioritze something.

If you support my idea, what I want you guys to do is take my proposal and fill it in the survey. Or spread my proposal to others so they can think about it. I truly believe this implementation will help solve the problem the lock on system this game has. So if possible, I want you guys to help my out to spread my proposal and add it to the survey.

I thank you guys in advance and any feedbacks are welcome for further improvements and refinements.
