How do I get an absurd amount of customers?

What are your top priorities in acquiring new customers? Is it focusing on social media marketing? Focusing on getting influencers? Getting better google reviews and how do you convince a customer to do that? Seo? Ads? What are you struggling with?

What projects are you trying to work on right now?

I’m trying to figure out this retention and churn issue

What are some projects that you are working on to improve your studio / community but are getting stuck? Is there anything you wish you could give to your members right now but find it incredibly difficult or frustrating?

How do you guys do marketing?

Do you guys have a strong social media presence to get new members? How much do your members post about the gym and would it be better or have no effect if they had a subreddit or shared group chat of some sort to post about their experiences?

Is community building a hurdle or block for you?

It seems like a great community is a key to reducing churn and improving retention. But there’s a lot of aspects to building community like sending out personalized messages to people who miss scheduled events, hosting events, checking up on members, conducting exit interviews and hand written letters etc.

What do you guys do to improve your community building? How much time do you spend doing these activities or are there other activities you do as well? Do you automate it and what tools or software do you use? Do you wish your time was spent elsewhere? What is blocking you from building the community you want?

Anyone use GMS like mindbody?

Does anyone use GMS with partner integrations like Perkville or FitGrid? Have you seen an increase in retention or acquisition with these tools? What do you love / can’t live without or hate about them?

Roast my gym owner acquisition / retention tool

I’m a NSCA CSCS and have been building gamified fitness apps for the last few years. I’ve learned a lot about user psychology and how great UI/UX elements can increase retention and word of mouth acquisition.

I’m currently building a b2b2c software tool / app for gym owners to see if we can solve some of their retention and acquisition problems.

Churn is an industry wide issue because the problem is complex and behavioral at its root. People don’t generally cancel subscriptions or memberships they use. So our solution is to use behavioral psychology to maximize retention and acquisition.

There are 3 researched elements from SDT that create lasting habits: autonomy, competence and relatedness. If people go to the gym out of their own volition they’re more likely to go. If members feel skilled and powerful executing exercises they are more likely to keep coming back. And if they have a community or friends they go with they are less likely to churn.

We’ve built these principles directly into our software to provide members with an experience they’ll love. We can take all of the equipment a gym has and create flexible workout plans for strength, power or hypertrophy.

The user has the full autonomy to bias muscle groups, change equipment, exercises etc. The programs are very adaptable and can be tailored by the gyms staff.

We demonstrate competence by showing a gamified rank and streak section so users can visually see how much stronger they are getting over time and how consistent they’ve been. They lose their streak if they miss a workout in 80 hours. We give them an incredibly detailed analytics section to view their weight, reps, sets over time with any prs etc.

We have a competitive social feature where groups of 2-3 can compete for cash prizes. Users will need to recruit their friends and will get a referral bonus of $5-$10 creating natural acquisition for the gym. There’s also a way for friends and or gym staff to message members to keep them motivated to keep coming back.

We have clean UI and the app can be white labeled to use your gyms branding, logos etc. Users will get be able to check in, view their daily workouts, challenges, the gyms group classes or pt etc. The gym will get dashboards showing increases in retention and acquisition.

The app is very consumer heavy with the gyms own branding. We handle all of the customer support, challenge pay outs etc. It’s probably similar to a gamified / social fitbod that uses your gyms branding and where members can access account information and check in.

We’re thinking of pricing it out at like $89/m per gym with a 30-60 day trial. Feel free to roast the idea out if I’m missing anything critical.
