she confides in her rapist but doesn’t know that’s who he is

{in love with the devil by sky blu} had a similar vibe to this.

astoria didn’t know that the night time appointments she had with julian, had also been the same man who she had day time appointments with. she wasn’t confiding in the doctor, aka julian, but she was fantasizing about him, him being the one who rapes her at night.

that’s the exact dynamic i want.

she doesn’t want it and genuinely hates it. but, he’s so kind with her, and gentle, and he whispers sweet words into her ear during their night time appointments.

her “falling” in love takes a while, it’s a slow process but, he’s patient, maybe he loses control once or twice or a few times but he generally is able to keep his composure.

i have yet to come across anything triggering so recommend anything besides, blood-related incest, historical, sci-fi, fantasy, mafia, rina kent, shantel tessier, and kate raven.

edit: the book i mentioned is not a dark romance, it’s erotic horror.

MMCs who are consumed by the FMC

{never far by A.A dark}

boston was obsessed with lucy and even saying that is an understatement. he couldn’t stay far from her for a long time and needed to always be with her, it was like he would’ve died without her. boston was unhinged, even with his amnesia, he killed everyone around her so she could only have him to depend on and manipulated her into staying with him. though, it honestly felt like lucy and everyone else was dumbed down to give boston an upperhand.

my only complaint: >!i didn’t realize lucy wouldn’t be the FMC in the series or that she’d die. it ruined the whole book for me, so i’m choosing to end their story in the first book and keep the series a separate universe.!<

i want more MMCs like boston who isolate the FMC by making her dependent on him, manipulating her, and physically needing her. i want his need for her to be so carnal, so depraved, and rooted so deep in his soul that he lives because of her. his manipulation runs so well, she doesn’t even realize she has already given up and is needing him the same way he needs her.

there aren’t many MMCs who come to mind.

{if i can’t have you by deathsdoll} is close but that might be a stretch. caleb could function just fine without orla, whereas boston was antsy without lucy.

{deviant king by rina kent} kind of fits? we all know aiden would follow right after elsa into the afterlife but the book isn’t as dark as, never far, nor does aiden use the same tatics.

{even if it hurts by sam mariano} could be the closest? dare does manipulate aubrey and isolate her from everyone and his methods could even go as far as cheating (which i don’t mind) but he’s not very.. loving? in his own way, sure. but generally speaking, it’s different from the other MMCs.

{in love with the devil by sky blu} bit of a wild card here but julian feels the closest to boston. since this is an erotic novel, the story doesn’t itch my romance tingles.

eta: the fallen fruit under the paradise fits pretty well, ulrich manipulates the situation for lizbel to fall into his hands and they work every time. but like dare, he doesn’t feel very loving.

i’ve tried a bunch of drethi anis’ books but have only finished one book from her. her MMCs just don’t give me what i’m looking for.

feel free to recommend anything as long as they’re dark and fit what i’m looking for. please don’t recommend any non-dark romance, even erotic horror.

long seried, same couple

(third repost but formatted differently because it keeps bugging in OG format.)

longest series i’ve read is {bad apple by selena} 5 books and over 2400 pages. personally, i think all the pages were well-used. she stuck to the plot and the story progessed instead of making up new BS to keep the pages turning.

{ominous by KV rose} 2 books, over 1300 pages. i’d say that’s enough pages to satiate my craving for the same couple but that’d be a lie. i’m so excited for the last book in the series to come out in june ‘26.

i know title says series (edit: or was supposed to) but i’m fine with standalones as long as it has a minimum of 650 pages.

i like almost anything and am also open to reading new things, but can be picky with the plot. a book can have all the things i love but if the plot lacks in story and growth, i can’t stick.

love, but don’t need: non/dub, somno, breeding, cum play, nurturing MMC, kind-hearted FMC, strong & intelligence FMC, psychological mind games, manipulation, and needy in a “i need to always be with you” way.

no: historical, sci-fi, fantasy, mafia, blood-related incest, rina kent, shantel tessier, penelope douglas, and kate raven (just in case).

they’re kids and he’s already decided that FMC is his

simple request, not too much. i’m someone who is open to almost anything so please comment down whatever you can think of as long as it’s got this!

i just ask for no: blood-related incest, rina kent, kate raven, or shantel tessier.

slow burn so slow you want to DNF

exactly as the title reads. i want a book where the leads are something but they don't exactly define it nor do they ever cross the invisible line. there's no kiss, no sexual caresses, nothing exact, but there are some teases like a hand too close here or they get lost in the moment and almost kiss. i want to be teased and drowned with the amount of sexual tension. maybe it goes on for 200 or so pages. this doesn't mean once they finally kiss they fuck like bunnies afterwards and there are constant sex scenes. i'm a horny bitch but i don't want the rest of the story filled with sex, sex, or sex.

this also only works if the book is long. maybe a duet, trilogy, or however many books in the series. slowburns only feel like slowburns if i'm looking at page 237 and they still haven't made a move on each other and there are still 400 more pages to go.

{ominous by KV rose} was a slowburn. it doesn't exactly match what i'm requesting but i'm not opposed either. they do kiss or something but they also tease each other and us all up until >!300!< or so pages in when they finally have sex. i actually had to put this book on hold for a week or two and read something else because it was so slow. 😭😭

please, no insta-love or anything of the sort, it kills the entire premise of what i'm looking for. also, no: rina kent, shantel tessier, kate raven, or blood-related incest.

what’s with these uni tropes disgused in HS?

whenever i read a college romance, the schools always operate like a HS. the bells, everyone going to classes at the same time, no one caring about their careers. what is with authors writing them like this?

ETA: i should’ve clarified and mentioned i was talking about US uni, sorry!

he doesn’t care that she’s on her period

i don’t know what this kink is called but umm yeah.. i’m a little scared to ask for a rec where he eats her on while she’s on her period but i definitely wouldn’t be opposed. he’d probably use the blood as lube.

i can’t believe i’m actually asking for something like this but my pussy is thinking for me right now.

no rina kent, shantel tessier, or kate raven please, other than that, i have no triggers.

i would prefer a darker story as opposed to a light but i don’t mind.

infertile FMC recs please

i don’t know why i’ve been on a pregnancy type kick lately but i’d love to see both sides so why not an infertile FMC?

no triggers but i just ask for no: rina kent, shantel tessier, or kate raven. thanks!

have you ever read a book labeled as DR and after finishing, thought, "was that really a DR??"

i'd say i'm a picky reader and am careful about what i choose to pick up but this book was a brother's bestfriend trope and i rarely ever come across those. i also picked it up because the FMC has selective mutism and those are even more rare to come across. it had a lot of things i was interested in, so i dove right it.

{quiet obesssion by IA dice} was great and i liked it a lot, but it just didn't feel like anything close to a dark romance. it was actually sweet. no killing, no dub/non, no mafia, not even really any morally gray characters. it'd have to be at the very surface of dark romance if actually considered. it could honestly be comparable to ana huang's blue twisted book or possibly the famous dark romcom that is really popular, forgot what it's called but i think the MMC's name is josh or something j.

my level of darkness does go way beyond most people and while i do understand we're all different, there are just some books where you have to question if it really is marketed towards the right audience.

definitely not upset that it wasn't dark. the book was a nice palate cleanser compared to the darker, sometimes even pitch black, books i usually like to read.

suicidal non-suicidal, for example: >!royal never went out of his way to kill himself but when pulled into the water, he also never made any attempts to save himself.!< {bad apple by selena}

{pure by layla simon} i really liked this book! the topic is important to the plot and wouldn’t feel the same without!

{loving the liar by lola king} i do wish lola dug deeper with the >!FMC’s SH!< but when i read that scene, my heart broke.

{hate like ours by nikita} yikes. this one made me cry like a baby. the scene was an emotionally hard read, i don’t think i’ve ever cried like that for a FMC in a while.

i would prefer it if the topic is important to the story and not some background thing that never gets brought up again.

no: rina kent, shantel tessier, kate raven, sci-fi, and non-MF.

{if i can’t have you by deathsdoll} is one, i don’t understand exactly why i feel this way. maybe because it’s so special, reading it a second time feels like it would take the magic away?

{the fallen fruit under the paradise} is another one. the unpredictability is the reason i enjoyed reading this book. a second time wouldn’t have the same shock value and wouldn’t create the same feelings as before.

what about you guys? do you feel this way too or is it just me?
